  Direct installation of R12 on Windows 2008 64 bit is not supported. You install it on a Windows 32-bit operating system, and then migrate to Windows 64 - bit.

• APEX on Oracle 10 G database installation

  Hello. One of my struggles with APEX installed at my place of work is that we lack of Oracle Database 10 g, 11 g not. This SUMMIT is not already installed on our Test Server. I don't have the technical knowledge to install APEX myself, so I need to ask a resource get the installation done. However, we have a very experienced Oracle DBA. If I had to estimate how much time the typical installation and post installation configuration would take our DBA (who has no prior experience of the APEX, but installs Oracle DBs with ease), which would be a sure to quote number?

  I am not able to comment, having never used the listener of the APEX, or any of the servers used with it. I never had any problems with APEX, mod_plsql, OHS, Apache (although many with the OAS and other things - including forms!).

  of course, just take a look in the directory $INSTALL_CONF. Files starting with swInst * reference a file in the directory INSTALL_CONF/answer answer $. Use an example configuration file or add your own answer file to install Oracle.

  I have installation problems of database 12 c on Oracle Linux 7.1, this is what I did and what is the result:

  Steps done in order:

  1. Configure a machine virtual box OL7.1 (has enough swap space, is fully updated and invited additions running)
  2. Install the package "oracle-RDBMS-server-12cR1-preinstall" to make sure that I have all the packages required pre
  3.   4. Obtained by runInstaller installation and chose to install database software ONLY.
  5. Run the root.sh as root script, after that the installation was successful
  6. DBCA: Create database, mode, advanced, general use create as CBD (an APB called pdb1), EM express (Yes), rather than default storage settings, install the schema example, character set AL32UTF8, by default all the rest.
  7. Edit the/etc/oratab file by changing the N a y at the end of the last line that is now "data1:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0.2/db_1:Y".
  8. sqlplus sys/oracle as a sysdba

  Your 7 step refers to an instance called data1, but you set your ORSCLE_SID to the cdb1. THERY can't be correct.

  I work with databases in Java for the first time. This week, I studied a lot about the hibernation, and I decided that I will use it to 'communicate' with the DB.
  However, I have a problem with the character encoding of the database.
  
  What's happening: I want to test my application before beginning of evolution society DB. I would like to test locally, with a database that I can 'spoil', delete, and insert data without risk. Oracle XE did this work. But... the database of the company (which is located on the server) is WE8MSWIN1252 encoding, unlike the Oracle XE database, which has AL32UTF8 encoding installed by default (and I can't change it).
  
  I would like to know how to make my local database WE8MSWIN1252 coding, or another way to 'convert' the WE8MSWIN1252 AL32UTF8 without data loss (although a test, I would like to have all the data with integrity).

  If you are referring to 11g XE, it is only available in AL32UTF8 characterset - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#XEINW138

  WE8MSWIN1252 conversion, although technically feasible, will probably cause the database to be damaged and unusable.

  I use XP Home edition V 2002 SP3.

  Other updates install OK.

  I noticed another user on this installation failure, but evokes a keyboard log failure:

  Please note, I do NOT have this message, but a recommendation has been to check some registry entries. I have an entry "scancode map".

  I don't know if the update failed, it's something to do with keyboards, (if I don't get this message) but I have installed a remapper small keyboard, InchWest MapKeyboard 1.2. I use it to remap the key insertion for people with reduced mobility. I also have the UK English keyboard as my default expanded.
