  The first firmware comes with RV042G is 4.2.0.03, so the firmware utility rescue v4.0.0.7 would not work.

  1. disconnect the power cable to the unit.

  4. release the reset button when you see the DIAG led are flashing.

• 2011 21 inch iMac won't start after the SSD upgrade

  Recently, I upgraded my hard drive for an SSD via a computer repair business in my neighborhood, I also upgraded the ram, but I don't think it's in the case. On a two weeks after the upgrade, my computer don't turn on more. I took it to the genius bar and they told me that the DSS had "failed." So of course, I took my computer to the computer repair company and they ran some tests, discovered that the hard disk does not (according to them, he only read this way because the apple store has run the test for a normal hard drive and not an SSD).   If you want to preinstall the device with the recovery media, you can do this in two different ways:
  -standard mode will be formatted the whole HARD disk and after the procedure of recovery on the HARD drive is just a single partition.
  -expert mode using this mode, you can create partitions if the HARD disk has only one, and you will be able to install the OS on the first partition (the other guy)

  Of course, you did using the standard mode and now the whole HARD disk is formatted. I'm not 100% sure, but in this case only fast format is done before the beginning of the procedure of the facilities. Try to find (Google) if there is a tool that can help you verify if all the data is gone. Using recovery media there is no way to do it.

  Drive external HARD is the right solution for the data backup.

  I just upgraded to 2.3 this morning and couldn't see that the problems of backup notice once I had updated. I had backed up my data before the upgrade with the old sony backup and restore the ap that was already on my phone. So, I know that the data is there on my SD card, but I just can't access it!
