• Get rid of 'Other' storage space? Tried everything

  I have more than 80 GB of unused 'other' storage space on my Mac which is impossible to remove. I downloaded various software to counter that. I downloaded Onyx and did all the cleaning operations which gave no result, except that I tried fixing disk permissions, but the status bar has not moved for more than an hour, so I gave up on it (I guess that's maybe the question, but I can't solve currently). I can not also check the S.M.A.R.T status, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I downloaded OmniDiskSweeper but I don't know which files listed are those that Mac didn't actually need to run and who make up the storage space 'Other', so I don't know what to delete. It feels like I need everything that is there and just cannot locate this scum of mystery. I also tried to download CCleaner, but it was not supported for some reason any. I started in safe mode to force a disk check, but it just told me that my drive is full I already know.

  I regularly erase my history and internet data as well as download, garbage, the attachments folder, and I hardly have photos or applications. Are there alternatives to work to easily get rid of the unused data segment?

  Other includes your calendar and contacts (as well as everything that is in the other category) are you sure that you want to remove these basic data.

  Sorry, but it's the only category I found in the list of Apple that came even close to my questions. I can be in the market for a new computer. but cannot decode their advertising messages.

  Hi, I need help with the obvious problem I have with my storage. If anyone can help to reduce the size of the other section, it would be great. I read through many threads gone although the steps recommended without result. (first aid run the utility disk, and cleared caches, restart mac, etc.

  After running Sweeper of OmniDisk, I discovered the iPhoto library and Photo library files are apparently huge, or they carry on size of file in disk utility. I read that this number is not possibly represented the size of the files? What is the file of Photos Library.photolibrary_prepare?   I already cleaned everything that's obvious files... trash, downloads, etc. But I still 65 GB of the file in 'others '. How can I find large files in 'Other' and delete them?

  epson16661.dmg (08/10/14) (I didn't own a Mac until last year, so where is the 2014 thing comes in?)

  epson15207 - 2.dmg (26/09/14) (3 of them the same day)

  JRE-Bu31-macosx - x 64 .dmg (11/02/15)

  Is it possible for me to remove installers? How can I free up my disk space? I moved pretty much everything except 2 docs to my documents and really cleaned up the thing. She went 4.2 high at 14 and change, but still it is not enough. What can I do else?

  Yes, you can delete the installation programs, unless you think you might need them. Also, take a look at Omni DiskSweeper. Omni DiskSweeper can show you the exact size and location of all your files. It will be the inventory of your disc from files that occupy more space.   There is nothing necessarily wrong with 'other' as long it's documents, etc. that you need.

  Make a backup and a restore just grow what you have now. I would not recommend it.

  I am a current owner M1000e as well.  You have a number of different options.  You have the versatile mid-height M620, which can be set up as animals when it comes to RAM and CPU.  Optionally, you now have blades of height of quarter if your use case supports, are an attractive option.  The bulk of the case with them in my mind is the limit of RAM.  We just bought 4 M620 to replace some of our old M600.  A computational side, we increase the computing power of an amount of signifigant compared city blades according to old Harper.

  Personally, I had still stick with EqualLogic form factor standard for storage.  The storage for the enclosure has a few traps that might not make it the best solution for you.

  can anyone help me solve this problem, I tried to restore the Iphone to factory presets, and still no change, the size of 'the other' keeps fluctuating between 300mbs and 1 GB.

  This is a normal size, impossible to completely remove the other files anything over 2 to 3 GB is corrupted profile.

  What is 'Other' and what I can do about it?

• disappearance of storage with Safari el capitan

  I have a macbook air 13 "mid-2011 running version 10.11.4 El Capitan.  It has approximately 17 GB of free space for HARD drive storage.

  When I run Safari (9.1) and let the system and Safari open my HARD disk gradually drops and finally will be reduced to 0 GB!  This of course breaks Applications and I have to force quit.  The category 'Other' storage is the culprit who grows as HARD disk space becomes smaller.  If I Quit Safari drive HARD returns space to ~ 17 GB.

  This happens sometimes, but not all the time?

  I reindexed Spotlight and deleted the Safari Cache and history, but nothing helped.

  If Time Machine is enabled and the external drive disconnected when this happens?
