  The problem solved itself, Thunderbird has just started working. I followed the thread suggested by Christ1 and found none of it applied. No malware, no browser, no certificate error security block. I did, however, in Thunderbird, under Tools/Options/General uncheck the button for "When Thunderbird launches, show the Start Page in the message box." I do know that if this helped, Thunderbird still do not access Comcast mail for hours after that, even with several stops and restarts.

  Of course, the point marking in your recent post concerns the former developer SQL install connection very well during execution by the G-drive.

  Although I'm not sure of the exact rules, I noticed that when the Oracle client resides on drive C, but the SQL Developer install is elsewhere, captures some files in its installation rather than from the Oracle SQL Developer client directory. An example is the ojdbc6.jar file. So you could also try installing SQL Developer 3.2 on another drive (internal or external non-disque C) and see if it works.

  I created a PPTP connection in order to connect to my workplace and connecting I continually receive an 807 error.

  To check my internet etc is work that I have connected to the same place through my existing XP laptop computer (DELL precision M4300) which has the same VPN settings.  Everything connects aok.

  I'm also running ESET as my anti-virus and firewall and that you have disabled it to test (normally I have no problem running this and is also running on my XP laptop).  I also confirmed that windows firewall is turned off.

  I connect wireless at home, internet works fine, firewall has not changed at each end (I manage both ends) and such noted works for my machine also running more XP wireless.

• SFTP does not connect with the CS3 version

  I'm having a strange problem and I hope someone can help. I have searched the forums and talked twice to Adobe support and have not yet been solved.
  
  The server where most of my sites is hosted using SFTP. It worked fine with DW8. Now when I try to connect, I get a message that it cannot connect, the server is might be arrested or not accept connections (not true). Then I crash, with the small Windows XP box that says Dreamweaver CS3 has encountered and error and needs to close.
  
  My server guy says he can see me connect and then disconnect immediately.
  
  I tried all the troubleshooting things: Add the port number to the ftp address, deleted the sshhosts file, deleted my configuration files, etc. Nothing makes a difference.
  
  Now the strangeness: Adobe support had me create a new Windows user. This user CAN connect! So apparently some piece of software (installed because I installed CS3, I guess) is blocking my connection. I uninstalled my QuickTime/iTunes, I had installed after CS3, but who did not do. I cleaned the registry. I ran various utilities antivirus/spyware/etc. Still no connection.
  
  This is the server that I am paying. It is not acceptable for me that I can't use a key feature of DW, my primary web development tool, with it.
  
  Any ideas? Thank you very much.

  I am marking as the answer, although I do not consider that it a satisfactory. I ended up reinstalling DW, and now I can connect to my SFTP server. I still don't understand why I couldn't. It bothers me, because it could happen again.

  (And, I might add, it took an entire afternoon uninstalling and reinstalling, period during which I couldn't use other programs on the computer.) Grrr.)
