• Is there a Session end function in Cold Fusion?

  In .net, there is a session end function that allows you to perform functions end a user session, Cold Fusion has something like that? The reason I ask is that I have a user that generates several xml with the data files and stores them on the hard drive while they are visiting the site, but once they leave, I submit all of these xml in a database files and trying to figure out the best way to do it. It would be for multiple users on the site. Anyone have any ideas?

• Cold Fusion: necessary?

  I'm following training Dreamweaver CS3 by Janine Warner.  I was all set to consider the Advanced training in the same series of training for DW and then I started looking at the course outline and it seems to need cold fusion.  Imagine my dismay in discovering that my "include everything" "Master Collection" for CS3 does NOT include Cold Fusion, (CF)!  Not having not the $$$ for CF, I was wondering if it is meaningless for advanced training.  Thoughts?

  I have a few applications which may require a site focused on the database, for example a wedding photographer client that I'm courting.  (A LOT of images, and they change frequently)  One of these extensions include the ability to order?  Consider the scenario of marriage: friends & family will melt right after marriage to buy a few photos and want to order directly online, and this business would fall after a few months to be replaced by other marriages.

  I think that there are a few others focus on the data base 'modules' DW will work with, but I'm not familiar with them.  I think that PHP, JSP, ASP and ASP.net were mentioned.  I use the Microsoft Access database. Where can I find more information on these extensions focus on the database to DW?  Are there any that are free?  All work as FC?  What is the best?

  Are there other charges, that I am aware of the need for support for a database site?  I have a lot of PC and a fast internet.

  Any thoughts appreciated.  I am relatively new to the use of DW, but I learn quickly, and I have the time and motivation to learn.

  The trial version and the 'developer edition' are in fact the same program. During installation, you select the option for the developer edition, which is free and has no time limit on its use. You only need to pay a license if you want to manage your own server on the internet. It is intended for companies and large companies that have their own dedicated servers hosting.

  However, before commit you to learning about ColdFusion, you should do a little more research on the question of whether it is what you really want. ColdFusion is a powerful technology on the server side, but as Paula, it doesn't have a very large user base. Not all hosting companies offer ColdFusion hosting. If you are interested in developing database-driven sites, you can also consider the possibility to use PHP. It has a much larger user base and is widely available on hosting companies.

  Disclosure: I write books on PHP, so my perspective is not necessarily impartial. ColdFusion is very good and it is relatively easy to learn (like PHP). However, it is not easy to go from a technology side server to another, I've learned the hard way when I needed to switch from ASP to PHP, when I realized that ASP developed is no longer.

  1. poor (for no) support (very bad) - this forum has 39 people about it now - compare to SQLServerCentral - horrible.
  
  2 memory leaks - everywhere you read - our servers are blocking every week (at least) after upgrade to Version 8 - big mistake - a lot of headaches.
  
  Bottom line - Adobe did not Cold Fusion. They had no other choice, Macromedia had already bought Allaire. Cold Fusion is a "red headed" step-child in the home of Adobe - Adobe even held that it would not be just.
  
  Our clients REQUIRES more of us that Cold Fusion can offer.

  Oh no! We are not in this new it are we? Look, man, if you get ColdFusion 8 to work, you need to race in and an accountant or something. I'm not sure what you're complaining support because your user account saves two positions - which is that one! Seriously, how hard could you may have tried? There could be 1 million reasons why your servers are breaking a week - #1 culprit is probably your code. Have you tried to turn on crash protection to stop the fracas? I'll go out on a limb here and say 'no', you do not.

  This has nothing to do with ColdFusion. JQuery runs on the client browser, and does not interact with the ColdFusion server.

  You would use the datepicker in exactly the same way as you would on a flat HTML page.

  The Mac Pro has a future? Processors seem to have reached a plateau and it is no longer an Apple Display Monitor for it. I want to replace my 2009 model at the beginning because it will not support the Sierra and would prefer a Pro for an iMac as I run SETI 24/7.

  It is an old relative to corrupted downloads (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Source_file_could_not_be_read) error message, but has become more widespread in Firefox 33.

  To make a long story short... before, if the server sent a response which was smaller than the specified size, the gap has been ignored and the download was considered to be very good. From Firefox 33, a file that is smaller than the specified size is considered as being damaged.

• Attachment to the server for handling Cold Fusion

  Is it possible to send an attachment for Cold Fusion to handle.

  Kind of like < cffile action = "upload" > however user is writing the file in Cold Fusion Server.

  The reason for this:

  Now we have an application that reads the data on the users of smart phones and the user sends the file themselves.

  But now we have found in some cases we need to do some manipulation base that Cold Fusion could easily do to clean up the data.

  If user would be electronic data to our server and then server would clean up and send file cleaned up the user.

  If there is nothing in the CF to do this, another language?

• VMWare Fusion has a memory leak

  I believe that VMWare Fusion has a memory leak. Version 4 has done, makes version 5 and version 6 only. I think I narrowed down it to VMWare Fusion. When I Google the topic, I find little information about it, which confuses me, as I assume that others must have this problem. I talked to the support, I did some research and I've not found anything useful. If you have had this problem, or have figured out how to fix, please let me know.

  I believe that you never mentioned your guest OS?

  If you the disks are aligned then disable hard disk buffering might help reduce the memory idle problem you have.

  If your disks are aligned not - as the default with comments older operating systems such as Windows XP - disable and then hard disk buffering probably will diminish your experience of the guest OS. Windows Vista and later have their default aligned drives and I think that the hard disk buffering is less a problem.

  To change preference may affect you negatively in other words, it was not clarified yet, but you can turn off hard disk buffering. (Don't forget the current setting)

  With your VM close, go to settings-> Advanced-> disk buffering, change to disabled.

  FWIW a long time ago, I aligned the disks on my main Windows XP and turn off buffering of hard drive.

• Any changes I've made to a cold fusion file is ignored

  I've made a few changes to a CF file, but they are ignored in all my browsers. I even deleted the file from the path and that is ignored in any browser, and it still shows the original file. I tried this on 2 servers different cold fusion 9 and 10 with the same results.

  I can think of 2 reasons:

  (1) wrong path: the path of the file you are editing is different from the corresponding to the URL path you open in the browser. Check this. Rename the file temporarily and see what happens when you open the URL in a browser.

  (2) caching: what the browser keeps opening could be a cached version of the page. Launch the ColdFusion Administrator and go to the settings of the Server => Caching. Make sure the Save class filesoption is not checked. Press the Submit Changes button

  If you open the Management Console IIS, go to the site you want to check, more on the right where are the actions to stop and restart there is a link "trace request failed. Click here to open and activate it.

  I think that your Studio MX came with a developer edition of CFMX 6.0. There are now several new editions. Each is greatly improved over the original CFMX (more than 5 years now). I would recommend you uninstall CFMX6 and install the latest CFMX 7.02 to:
  http://www.Adobe.com/go/trycoldfusion or at least install CFMX 6.1 updater 1. Both are available at the same address. The drop-down is for CFMX 6.1. Each of the installers CFMX allows you to choose between a trial version (company for 30 days, then developer) or a licensed version, if you have a license. The original CFMX 6.0 is not a good option at this stage.
