Outlook Express 6.0 problem

When I send a message, it is hindered in the Outbox, never appears in my Outbox. I have to delete manually the outlet box and then have no reocd.  How can I fix?

You have apparent dbx file corruption.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

You don't say what problems you have with OE, then how everyone has to guess?

There is no such thing as a "Thunderbird account. You do not have an account with your email provider. To access this account, you can use OE, or Thunderbird.
But Thunderbird isn't your e-mail provider.

  • Setup xp Outlook Express 6.0 problem - no support.

I am trying to configure Outlook Express 6.0 on an old XP, my modem is connected to AT & T and my regular internet e-mail is through Yahoo.com.  I get conflicting information about the POP3 or IMAP protocols, and if I have to use att.net or yahoo.com. In addition, the updated 6.0 in place the form has no page for me to enter or leave ports.

I'm experimenting with Bit Torrent, U Torent, focus groups, etc., but after that I have, in various ways, "successfully" create an OE account, my connection fails.

    Any help out there?

    Thank you

    Yes, it does,

Your e-mail will be ATT or others in the ATT network.

Here is a step by step for Outlook, but it is quite similar to Outlook express.

  • Outlook Express sent Box problem.

Outlook Express 6 stopped saving messages in my Outbox.  I cleaned the Outbox and it started to work, but is now show the date as April 17.  How can I fix it?  OE6 can be updated?

Compaction removes only the space wasted in a file (at least that's what his supposed only to do, but he often corrupts - www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2, so backup frequently), so you should not lose anything by regular maintenance.  However, if the file becomes more than a few hundred megabytes, performance suffers and the file is much more sensitive to corruption.  So if you approach this stage, you can create a subfolder of sent items (for example sent_04262011) and move all items in this folder and then compact both.  This will give you an own sent items folder and sent items distinct that you can list the messages in.  You can also implement an identity where we keep older E-mail, but then it's time for that identity to access.

  • Outlook Express emails received no sender, subject and content in the code

Message posted on the office forum, but someone suggested that I should post in the Windows forum?

I use Outlook Express for years to receive my emails.  My ISP is BT I have multiple email accounts coming via Outlook Express and the problem does not occur with any identifiable pattern.  10 emails from ebay arrived at the same time - the first 2 were fine the next two had no sender, no topic and perhaps HTML code looks like in content, 2 were very well the next information was missing and then another was fine, etc.

I downloaded and installed all the updates from Microsoft, but that does not change.

An e-mail this morning that came to two of my email addresses was good one and the information on the other missing.

When I checked my e-mail via webmail on Yahoo, all emails had senders, subjects and relevant content.

I use Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8, and Outlook Express 6.

I would be grateful for any help.

    Thank you

Outlook Express has nothing to do with Microsoft Office. That's why they sent you here. This is the right forum for OE.

You have all these accounts set up in the very identity of OE? Your problem may be due to a variety of reasons, your security for one program.

What program do you use for security? Make sure that's not incoming or outgoing e-mail scanning.

If that's not the answer, set up a new identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Also, observe the following precautions for Outlook Express.

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

I'm trying to get my emails from an old windows me computer using outlook express.  the problem is I find all these files .ids as inbox.ids instead of .dbx and windows live mail as Outlook express on windows xp recognizes as files to import.  How do I return my emails?

  • I asked how to reinstall Outlook Express

I asked how to reinstall Outlook Express and got a response that I should go to "Control Panel" and open "add/delete programs" then click on Outlook express, but the problem is that Outlook express is not there. It has been deleted. I get the message "file MSOE. DLL could not be initialized when I try to poen outlook express. I need to reinstall it please help

This is a false error message.  They got an error message and they used it for everything.  You probably have the corruption of folders.dbx and if you delete and then OE opens fine.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#7 , but you may need also some message store corruption and so it would make sense to go to the file. Identities and establish a new identity that will give you a store own message and once works fine, using the file | Import | Messages to get the messages from the old identity.

In addition, its very important to save your messages in this kind of corruption occurs frequently.

so, dave and Divic, I just remembered!  I thought about all the boxes with the little red exes in them... One of the main areas where people can see the red X's in their email. If you use Outlook Express and have problems to see pictures in your email, open it and go to Tools, Options and choose the Security tab make sure the box "block images and other external content in HTML e-mail" is unchecked. Now, if you send an e-mail message and people are complained to you in the pictures does not show up, try this: open OE and go to Tools, Options, tab to send . Under the Mail Sending Format section, make sure that HTML is selected, and then click the HTML settings button. From there on, check the box "send pictures with messages" is checked. That should solve all your problems of mail.
