Outlook Express 6 - I receive several emails duplicated - some as much as 5 times. other emails are received at once in my Inbox in?

My box often takes a long time to receive e-mails, Registrant receiving 1 of 5.  So when they finally come thrus, I could have 3 exact same emails from the same sender and other 2 separate emails from different senders.  Often, I get a message that says: there is a mistake and I want to wait until I click on Yes, and possibly e-mail messages are received.

Tools | Options | In general. What is: search for new messages every X minutes planned? If it's a short period of time and the previous download does not complete, it will start all over again. Increase the amount of time and see if that helps.

You can also speed up delivery by disabling analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Note that for many AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option is available.

If you still have problems, then the Pop3uidl.dbx file is damaged. This is the file that keeps track of what has been downloaded.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. Then, remove the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the messages once more, but it should be.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  • We recently had Comcast to att uverse & changed our settings in outlook express but now receive duplicate emails

    Outlook express duplicate messages

We recently had Comcast to att uverse & changed our settings in outlook express but now receive duplicate e-mail messages.  I have leave copy on the server checked so that we can access our messages from multiple computers, do not know if there is anything else that needs to be changed to avoid this problem.

Pretty much confirms that it is outside interference. You have McAfee on both machines? Close all programs and temporarily disable McAfee on both machines. Send a short test message now.

Norton and McAfee are two of the worst programs to use with Windows e-mail clients. They cause conflicts and must be removed in favour of a less intrusive program like NOD32, (not free), Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials, (both free). I use MSE on all my machines and it works fine.

  • Outlook Express 6 - can receive messages but not send - error number: 0x800CCC0E

Original title: Outlook Express 6 - can receive messages but not send

I recently installed SP3 on my Windows XP machine and installed Internet Explorer 8. After that, Outlook stopped mail (still receives, if) and gave me this error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.qmcompany.com', server: 'mail.qmcompany.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, secure (SSL): no, Socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800CCC0E

I tried everything but reinstall Outlook Express. Is there a compatibility issue with IE 8? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi John,.

Follow the steps described in the article below

Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you try to send and receive e-mail in Outlook and Outlook Express (OE)

(Article applies to Outlook Express 5.5, steps applies to OE 6)

  • Can not send message from Outlook Express 6, can receive ok.

I can't send messages.  I have Outlook Express 6.  I can receive.  When I send it crashes, there is no error message, if I move the box (click and drag the blue banner) is like a ventilated on card game.  No way to process, I need Ctrl alt dlt on Outlook.  I have Service Pack 3.  The "sent" box is empty.  I have Comcast, I have called them and went throgh their Checklist (incoming & out of the server settings will and everything is correct.)

Thanks, I'm back in business.  In addition to what you show in "General Precautions for Outlook Express" to understand why this happened.  I got a lot in the deleted items folder.

Once again, thank you.  I really appreciate your time.

You're welcome and thanks for posting back.

The default main identity can become corrupted very easy because there a few registry keys more than user created files that work very well.

The dbx file system is very fragile and also prone to corruption. By creating new identities, each single dbx file is new. Which have been the cause of the problem could have been determined by their replacement one at a time, bur which would have been a lot more time and a new identity is deeper.

If you comply with security measures, you are much less likely to have this kind of problem in the future.

  • I can't send email from my outlook express (I can receive them). Anyone know how to fix this?

I phoned my ISP that says that the problem was not with them, it was probably with the norton anti virus firewall. I called norton and they have made a few tests, including disabling the anti virus software and the problem is still there. Here is the message I get when I try and send an email ' 552: the message exceeds the limit of 200 system and was not sent, Port 25: secure SSL. " No Ox800CCC60 error number. "My blacbkerry will send and receive emails from my work by default email address, but my work email will not send from the PC on outlook express.  I can't talk to my ISP since they are based in England and I am currently working in California, anyone know what the problem is likely to be and how to fix?

If your ISP is also your email provider, they lie to you or the person to whom you spoke was just ignorant...  The error message is a mistake from their server server-side.  There may be no doubt of that.  It seems to indicate that they do not allow more than 200 messages, but the error is rather ambiguous it is impossible to determine what line the error refers and what period of time the limit extends.

Moreover, the original forum where you posted was on Outlook, not Outlook Express.  I moved your post to the correct forum.

  • When I send an email from Outlook Express, it is sent several times, usually happens when sending electronic mail to the affiliate

When I send email to the affiliate, it will send several times, fill their Inbox, and then the returned several e-mails to fill my Inbox. I have sent emails of the sample to my personal account, and that works well, except when I attach a pdf file, then it send twice. How can I fix?

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck the box: "Break apart messages...". ».

If that does not she, you have corruption of dbx files.

Create a new Outbox and sent items folder.

Follow these steps for the Outbox and sent items after you move the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Outbox.dbx and Sent Items.dbx file and remove them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

  • Outlook express problem - he receives an email from Comcast, but will not send it.

My Outlook Express cannot find the server to send e-mail.  I receive emails from my ISP.  Any suggestions to solve this problem

It would be useful to include any error message you get when something like that happens as it may for various reasons. However, I'll look in my CrystalBall and suggest this:

Change the SMTP port to 587 and ensure that: my server requires authentication is enabled.

  • Can't send emails via outlook express but can receive. Error message - outlook cannot connect to smtp (0 x 80042109)

Try to send 2 messages and I cannot remove it from the Outbox to prevent them from sending.

What is the version of Outlook Express you're using?  , and who is your email provider.

A few steps to try would be to do a connection test to see if the SMTP server has been configured correctly,

You can also see the following article in the Knowledge Base Microsoft Visual for several troubleshooting steps

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/302357

I hope this helps solve your problem,

  • Outlook Express 6.0 receiving emails 1-7 of 640, then the error message.

When I log in Outlook Express, I receive messages 1-7 then get this error message:

Number 8 of the message could not be found. Account: 'tarala', server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR timeout ', Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800420CD

Number 9 of the message could not be found. Account: 'tarala', server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Server network problem. Please try again after a certain time.', Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800420CD

Your server suddenly put an end to the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'tarala', server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800CCC0F

If I close the program and reopen it, I get the same 7 messages again then the same error messages.  I have 640 messages that don't is not loading.  Help!

Connect to Bellsouth and remove the corrupted message #8 and #9, eventually.

  • Outlook Express main identity and Comcast email server

I use Outlook Express (Internet Explorer 8) in Windows XP Pro.  A year and half ago my main identity ceased to be able to access the new emails through my Comcast email server account, but my other two (not main) identities Comcast can download all of their new emails.  I just get a message "unknown error", said that the main identity account cannot access the server.  PS. I can send emails, but I can't receive them.  I tried to look at all the POP and SMTP elements and they do not seem to be wrong Comcast took me through several steps but said the probel in my OExpress program and they were no help at all after that.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Tip: Create an identity third to replace the main identity. Import messages and address book and if it works well, remove the main identity.

Make sure that the SMTP port is set to 587 and my server requires authentication is enabled. (Many Comcast Tech don't even know it).
