Outlook Express 6 with Windows XP updated with Service Pak 3.

I have Outlook Express 6 with Windows XP updated with Service Pak 3. I can receive emails but cannot open them, reply or forward them. This message is received for all the above "there was an error opening this page. An error has occurred. "

Also when I try to open my address book this message appears "unable to open the address book. The AddressBook is may not be installed correctly. »

Is Office or Outlook is also installed on this machine? If Yes, see the reference by PA Bear in this thread.

All of you who have the same cause.  Something is screwed up with your address book.

It could be several specific problems, which include:
-corrupted WAB file
-damaged or incompatible DLL files for the addressbook
-have OE set to use the Outlook98 / 2000 + contacts instead of the WAB
folder and there is something wrong at the end of Outlook

  • Problems with Outlook Express 6 in Windows XP

    Dear Sir or Madam:

My friend has problems with his program of Microsoft Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP computer.

He has saved all his program of Microsoft Outlook Express 6 e-mail messages.

There are 2 e-mails corrupt in its Outlook Express 6 Inbox folder; He tried opening and remove these 2 emails corrupted in the Inbox folder, which causes the Outlook Express 6 program stops responding and freeze-up Windows XP. He had to click the end task to close immediately the program Outlook Express 6 is not responding in Windows Task Manager.

It won't reinstall Windows XP on his computer from scratch.

    Please reply back soon.

    Thank you.

Same question as above, except the deleted items that is now corrupted. Follow the instructions above, but this time remove Remove Items.dbx with OE closed.

With all the corruption, you might want to consider a new identity that will give you all the new dbx files and a new registry hive.

File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • Using Outlook Express 6 with multiple identities.

Had the hard drive problems.  He has been replaced by Dell warranty.  I have set up outlook express 6 with multiple identities.  I can't go from one to the other identity and return to the original, without having to restart my computer.  Dell has said that some things need to be changed to make it work properly.  They tell me what they were without a heavy load.  I used to use this feature with my old hard drive.  Help me please if you can...  Thanks in advance.

  • Outlook express 6 in windows xp slow at the reception of the mail how to fix

my outlook express 6 in windows xp is very slow in receving mail. It seems to take up to an hour to receive messages, that I even go to the icon that says send/receive, and then click on that and it shows a little fill a box, then when it is filled with arrow says disconnect and I don't know where my mail went. How can I fix it

    Do a household.

1: do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

2: after you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

3: disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

  • migration of Outlook Express email in windows mail (windows 7)

Recently bought a new laptop with windows 7, now facing a big problem.

I works on Outlook Express in Windows XP in my computer earlier and have loads of data in her e-mail. After buying the new notebook with windows 7 without knowing the fact that Windows 7 does not support Outlook Express, I'm now completely stuck, helpless and I have no way instead of continuing my use of my old notebook with Windows XP to access my emails in Outlook Express as I take references for old mails unlike the response.

I have done the back up of my Outlook Express and copied in Windows mail in Windows 7 laptop, but it didn't work...

Kindly help me in migrating Outlook Express emails to Windows 7 with the steps that is the big question of mine.

I would be grateful if someone revert soon.

You try to use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail? If the latter...

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

  • I use Outlook Express messaging in Windows XP. How can I change the "READING" of West Euro (ISO) (Windows)? (ISO is default, NO selecttion option)

I use Outlook Express messaging in Windows XP. Display Hebrew characters of the name of the sender and the subject? and the body of the message often appears in giberish (I guess it's ASCII). My ' READ' international property is Euro (ISO), West it is grayed and I have no option to Western Euro (Windows), (no drop-down option). My "send " is OK, I had a choice, and it's on (windows).

  • Why Outlook Express "Identities Login" window launch daily by itself?

I am running XP SP3 and Office 2007. My computer is always turned on. I no longer use Outlook Express as an email client, but I've had multiple "identities" put in place due to several e-mail accounts for businesses. I now only use e-mail via a web browser. I also installed Norton 360 Internet protection suite. Daily Outlook Express "Identities Login" window is launched by itself. It also no longer displays the normal Outlook Express ICON on the taskbar button. Instead, it displays a different ICON which resembles something of Norton 360 can display, but they can't explain it.

Can someone tell me why this window would launch itself every day? It doesn't look like the PC is to be restarted because the other windows that should be present are not there. I have turned off the file msmsgs.exe from running at startup, but this does not seem to stop him. Someone at - it help him? Thank you.

Norton and OE never got along (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3) and it's probably Norton that causes the problem, even if their population do not know on this subject.  (This is a horrible program to install on your computer, because it generates problems of electronic mail and also slows down the machine a lot.  I would like to get something much less invasive, for example www.microsoft.com/security_essentials) If you use OE, then go and delete the accounts and identities and then it shouldn't bother you more.   You can also go to start | Run and type msconfig and disable startup items which can be access trigger OE to open.

  • How to send 31MB. WMV file using Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP?

How to send 31MB. WMV file using Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP?

If it is possible please provide step by step procedure.

All attachments add about 33% size thanks to the encoding. This makes your 31MB file around 41 ~ 42 MB. I doubt that your ISP/mail server allows something that big, and of course, I would not be the recipient of a message that size.

Create a YouTube account and put it there. You can make public or private and provide the link to the recipient.

  • loss of address book and records custom in Outlook Express when merged Windows Live ID with Outlook

Hello, I am new to Forum.  I got a Smartphone, a Windows phone, hooked through AT & T Uverse.  I merged ID them Windows Live ID with Outlook and then Outlook Express to check my email from other accounts that were active, and they were all gone, as well as my custom with saved email folders are all gone and my address book is empty - everyone passed.  Can someone help me find what I mentioned, it's gone?  Thank you.  Waiting...  Oh my desktop has Windows XP and my Smartphone is Windows 7.5.  Just thought this might be useful.

    Jessie.

All Outlook contacts are stored in a file with a .wab extension and mails are stored with the extension .pst.

Filenames usually have your login window. Do a search and find where are the .wab and .pst files, and then you use these files to rstore on your Outlook Express.

  • using outlook express 6 with programs it is bound to

I use 4 dell towers, 3 dimension 8100 and 1 4600. All are loaded with IE6 and OE6. OE is related to a number of programs both MS and MS No. One of them is OPEN OFFICE. I wrote a letter recently with OO and tried to send by email (OE6) only built the choice... Error "CAN'T FIND WORK email APPLICATION". I went on the desktop, open OE, attempted an email, the same error. I have tried other programs all the same error. I went on all THE PROGRAMS. NOT on any list! Even an internal search came empty. I tried a SYSTEM RESTORE. 'INCOMPLETE' as usual. With nothing else to try, I'm done reload the operating system, XP PRO, and then all my programs, once again. OE6 is now stable and performs as expected. To check, I saw the other 2. Both had similar problems. # 2, however a SR work MADE for a while until that the OE icon and the program disappeared on its own. A second SR did NOT work. OS Reload once again. Icon #3 was there, was not. Still another SR has been tried with success. # 4, everything was fine. Why all the variables is a mystery to me. Fortunately I have multiple My DELL operating system CD copies if no key is requested. The version of MS is also included on the same CD. I mean, sure, I don't have a key that the process will accept from these towers have been improved for XP by someone else in the past with everything that CD has worked for him. If there is another way out of this kind of disorder to reload the operating system, I would like to know about it. Reload only OE6, reloading with the included OE6 IE6 would be nice as well. My goal here is to my sad story in the hope he can help other technicians not like me. All responses with suggestions, solutions will be welcome.

... I wrote a letter recently with OO and tried to send by email (OE6) only built the choice... Error "CAN'T FIND WORK email APPLICATION".

I suspect that you will find that Open Office (like many other applications) requires an e-mail client (e.g. MS Outlook) full MAPI can SEND a file. Outlook Express is a Simple MAPI email client and so inconsistent.

A solution would be to save the file to your HARD drive and then attach it to a new message in OE.

You will find ongoing support for OE in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xpnetwork/threads

  • My Outlook Express came with my XP, I upgraded to IE 6 and now I can't reply to all threads in my emails? How should I do?

"" I get e-mails that contain a blue response below the address line, I was able to meet until late November 2011, but now the "blue line" will not use the addresses included in the emails. I continue to get online with Google Crome and IE and receive emails with Outlook express. What can I do?

1 start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults: select (check) the CUSTOM [<>] configuration option, and then click the arrows pointing to the far-right | Browser: select "Internet Explorer" here (to not "use my current... »).

    Illustration: http://teamtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/set-program-access-defaults-02.jpg

If you return to check the out parameter #1 above, it'll be "Use my current..." "but now it's going to be"point"to IE so that you don't need to change anything or reset. [Think of it.]

    2. check your settings here: IE tools | Internet Options | Programs | Default web browser: If the make default button is NOT dimmed, click/press it.

    3. right click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop: http://www.slipstick.com/doit/chromehtml.reg [1]

    3. double-click the file that you saved in # 3 above (i.e. chromehtml.reg) & accept invites him to MERGE with the registry data.

    4. setting of Internet Explorer settings through this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Tip: For best results, check the option Remove personal settings .

    5. restart & test.
