Outlook Express 6: your server has unexpectedly ended the connection. The potential causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Error number: 0x800ccc0f

Original title: Windows XP and Outlook Express 6

I have a new computer with outlook express and went through the set up instructions.  When I tried to send a test email, I got this error message:

"Your server has terminated suddenly the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): Yes, error number: 0x800CCC0F. »

How can I fix this error message and have e-mail sent via Outlook?

It can be something as simple as turning off email in your anti-virus program that is unnecessary and can cause this. However, if it does not, ask the experts in this forum. Here, few people use this e-mail program.

You must make a few changes, not only on outgoing parameters, your incoming parameters also need changes.

Open your e-mail program > tools > accounts > your bizmail account > properties > servers, under outgoing mail server, check "this server requires authentication" > apply > advanced, under outgoing (SMTP) mail change to 465 not 25. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > under incoming (POP3) mail, change it to 995 no 110. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > OK

I can't send Emails of Outlook Express recently.  I deleted norton antivirus which has accelerated, but no shipping.  Even disable the firewall is not good.  POP3 is set up correctly in Outlook Express and I can receive Emails.  A message of support said disable the limitation on the bandwidth Exchange Server and I find no selection of Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager under administrative tools, so I'm at an impasse on this one.  Does anyone have a solution to this common problem?

I added the word Express in the 2nd sentence.

In my view, that the port settings have changed for MSN. However, it is a question of MSN and you will need to ask in the forum MSN here. I have no expertise in any program 'Live '.

  • Windows Mail 0x900CCC0F error code: "your server has unexpectedly ended the connection." Help!

    Hello

I am running Windows Mail on Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 on a PC HP for ~ 5 years. Our ISP is SBC (AT & T - Uverse) in California, 12 MB/ch wired high-speed Internet. Until recently, electronic mail has been working well. Then, we started to have problems with the speed of send/receive. When you perform one of these tasks, 100% of the time, the green in the status bar goes about to halfway and then stops completely. It takes a few minutes to complete the task (after that Windows Mail is responding again). About 75% of the time, the connection times out. This happened about a year. I had an AT & T technician examine the settings and questions several times and they all said that there is a problem with Windows Mail. The latest technology told me to turn off my antivirus, but then I HAD a virus, so I had to turn it back on. Anyway, I'm currently running Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer, and I read in a forum earlier that he didn't have a problem in this case. This was really inconvinient for us and I came close to switching Mailhosts. It is convinient for me to watch on my cell phone, it's the computer these days. So many random error messages and low speeds - Ugh!

And then, the e-mail completely stopped working today! Every time you try to send/receive, it appears: "your server has ended suddenly the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. "Account: 'Windows Mail', server: 'inbound.att.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, error number: 0x800CCC0F. This has been reviewed several times and AT & T said that there is a problem with Windows Mail. I can't send or receive e-mail, and it is completely ridiculous! Soon will contribute an expert please! (Otherwise, we change to another host)

    Sincerely,

    BMich21

I want to download Windows Mail as it is a more updated from Outlook Express version, my computer has Outlook Express preinstalled on it when I bought it but I have never used, it would be better to uninstall Outlook Express before you install Windows Mail or do I need to keep Outlook Express on my computer where Windows Mail needs to use some of the files I don't want these two e-mail on my computer programs as they would take so much space on my computer.

Sure. You can download and install WLMail 2009 on your XP machine. I have no idea why you prefer on Outlook Express, but each to their own.

How can I copy book addess of Outlook Express on your laptop running xp, to a new laptop running Win7 and office Outlook 2007.

I don't know if Outlook will import directly a stand-alone WAB. He could.

    You might try that first.

If this does not work, you have two easy options.

1 export the OE address book to CSV file and import that into Outlook. (Make sure you check the mapping of the fields before making the final import)

    2. install Outlook temporarily on the XP machine and import the addfressbook. Transfer the pst file that result to Outlook on the new, open and copy all contacts in all.

  • Outlook Express seems to set font sizes when the recipient receives the e-mail I sent.

Hi again.  I should have added to my query on Outlook Express is shrinking the font size of my e-mail in transit that he can be a factor of parameters of beneficiaries, because: a) they seem to get normal size of other people's mail, and IT was tiny - in other words b) I received my mail of I belong to and posted something on a mailing list My message sent 12 points received by the same machine that I had sent the message characters of 7 points.  Thanks again!

This is usually a setting on their end. If it looks OK in your folder, then there is nothing you can do. They need adjust the font size when reading in their e-mail program.

If it looks small to your sent items, make sure that you have nothing selected for mails including 'white '.

Needless to say I went to family safety settings on our PC and the Security Web site for the family repeatedly to change the settings that might seem to apply, but it has only settings web for her, no setting of Hotmail to update me at all.  Am I missing something, or is this a problem?

    Hi BigDcdn,

For us, in order to better afin de mieux aider help you with this issue, please send us screenshots of what follows:
    • List of child accounts on https://familysafety.microsoft.com
    • Settings for the computer of the child concerned on the site of the family safety (the page where it shows queries, e-mail notifications, etc.).
    • The list of the user accounts on your computer
I have sent you a private message for instructions. After you download it, please let know us in this thread.
    Thank you.

Okay, so I thought about it and it's ugly and not intuitive.

The REAL CAUSE of the ROOT of this error is that you CANNOT add a new kid in the Family Safety (FSS) Web site.

But as a solution, you can add a new kid on the Section of the Windows Phone website My family.

FIRST STEP remove account the offending child of family on the site of the FSS under the management of the list of the members of the family section. Once this has been completed, follow the workaround below.

    WORKAROUND

    1. Then from the sign of site Web of Windows Phone with your Microsoft Account (MSA) (parent).
    2. Hover over your name just below upper right of the search box and you will get a context box.
    3. In the context box, select My Family.
    4. In the Section My family, you will have two lists. PARENTS and CHILDREN, and especially an ADD A KID to the right of the list headers.
    5. Click on the link. Now, you will get a login screen of the MSA.
    6. Register your child or have them enter login and password. They will appear as a kid under the section of your Windows Phone my family. Even if they do not have a phone you can add.
    7. Ask them to connect in hotmail\outlook.com with their MSA will complete the configuration of security for the family.

    REAL SOLUTION

There must be a link on the site of the FSS for KID A ADD (add a child would be more enjoyable unless of course you are a family of goats) identical to that of the Windows Phone my family section. Seems like a logical place to have this option?

I hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

In addition to comments of Bruce, likely OE compacted messages and in doing so, he probably wiped out the where they are absent.  Check your Inbox and message store bak files which are backups dbx files prior to compaction (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2).  If you cannot find the bak files, then you will probably use the extract of the service drive of my DBXpress program (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).

    Change outlook web mail

I'm going through webmail with cable cox to outlook or outlook express, but finds it difficult to get the emails to my wife separately from mine.  Not sure how they get along with the different email address.  I tried setting up separate accounts and profiles in outlook 2003 and have also tried to separate identities and accounts in outlook express 6.  Any help would be appreciated. TKS Joe Novick

I can't speak for Outlook, even if it is very similar, but if you have configured the real separate identity in OE, as in needing to switch identities with it, avoid a problem unless you use both the same e-mail address.

If you use different addresses to your identity, go to tools | Accounts and remove its identity. Vice versa in its identity.

I use Cox and were three addresses in the three identities without problem.

Last night my operating system not found a set file and reloaded among other Outlook express things - is it possible to recover the address book, folders and emails?

    original title: Outlook Express problem

    Hi John,.

Try to locate your data from outlook express:

    Click on start-> Run & paste-> %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

You will see the folders as {xxxxxx-xxxx-xxx-xx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} click-> Microsoft-> Outlook Express, you should be able to locate the DBX files, these are the outlook database files. Ideally, you should see inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx... check the size of the file.

Now to get it back on outlook express, open outlook express-> click on tools-> Options-> maintenance-> the storage location.

Click on change location, and then select the location that you have your data in.

For the address book, see: click Start-> Run and paste the following:

    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Address book with wab extension, these should reflect your Outlook Express user name.

    I hope this helps.
