Problem importing files Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail in Windows 7__
My new computer has Windows 7 and, of course, Windows Live Mail. My old computer has Windows XP and Outlook Express. I copied my file OE that contains all my USB key *.dbx files. On the file menu of WLM, I then selected "Import Messages" and then indicated the location of my OE files on the USB key. When I clicked to import the files, a small window with a green status bar that showed all the imported files. I then clicked on "Finish." My problem is even if the import seems to be successful I don't think the imported files or folders in Live Mail. I tried twice with the same results. Did I miss a step? My just OE files seem to have not gotten in my Windows Live Mail program.
Look in the imported folders under storage folders. If you do not see the storage files, in the Menu bar: view | Page layout | The folders pane. Check: View the storage folders.
Missing Menu bar? Click the menu button to the left of the help button and activate the menu bar.
If still no joy, copy the database messages OE of the USB on the desktop and try to import from there.

Import e-mail messages from Outlook Express in Windows Live Mail?
I have recently moved to a new PC with Win7 and have been using Live Mail - more often with success, I thought with the exception of one or two faults, but I'll probably post a question on those.
On the audit of my old PC today, when I open Oulook Express have been downloaded more than 100 emails that have not appeared in Live Mail - dating back to the time I went.
I tried to export these messages of OE, put it on a USB key and then import in LM LM do not seem to recognize them - these are the dbx files. Suggestions anyone please?
Thank you in advance.

I followed your instructions and now have "storage folders" visible. However that a single user account recorded message records showing if you keep double clicking and scrolling down. There are 3 other user accounts whose records are not visible. I tried as well by importing and using Windows Easy Transfer for all alphanumeric codes in Outlook Express. I signed into Live Mail using the other our of the user, but this does not solve the problem... Please tell us how to transfer files from my old computer Windows XP to the new W7 mail.

Move Outlook Express on Windows XP to Windows 8
I'm putting my new PC running Windows 8. My old PC is running XP.
I have used Outlook express for email and have email POP3, my provider supports IMAP too.I started implementing the messaging application on Windows 8, but quickly found that, unless you use webmail is VERY limited. I have been using outlook express for years and currently have all my emails organized in folders for ease. I would like to find a way to transfer all emails, complete with the folder structure for a new e-mail program I can run on windows 8.I already have a hotmail address and a gmail address, which are related to the Windows 8 messaging application. What is the best way to go about this? I am happy to download new software, but prefer to stick to the free software. I read solutions using Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird, but I do not know how to best to achieve my goals. The old PC works always (but at snails pace) if that helps with a simple solution.Thank youYou would have the chance of better install an e-mail as WLMail ot Thunderbird client. Here are the instructions for WLMail. In Outlook Express, compact you files first.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. If you have professional, enterprise or ultimate edition, you can use OE in XP mode. There is no standalone version.
How to use Outlook Express in Windows 7
http://www.oehelp.com/OEnWin7.aspxI went with Thunderbird. It's not exactly like OE, but I like much more than WLMail.
Thunderbird
http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-us/Thunderbird/Of course there are others like Opera, Eudora, etc. You can Google for e-mail clients.
For your Favorites:
Import or export favorites in Internet Explorer

When I click on anything it either in the Outlook Express Preview window to stop answer and I have use the ctrl-alt-del combination for her all over again. Anyone out there have the same problem? If so what did you do about it.
Original title: I'm under Oulook Express 6 Windows XP Home SP3 environment.
Bruce:
The problem has been fixed (I think) but in a most unusual way. Let me explain.
When I was closing down to give the computer a rest yesterday, there was a pop up saying that vprotector expected to close. He really wanted the process of closing until I clicked on finish the process. Curious to know what vprotector is, I searched on the net and got a lot of shots, saying: it is a virus and should be deleted pronto. So I searched the hard drive for the vprot. * and found in the folder program files for AVG!
I then went to AVG to see if it's really a part of AVG and they said yes. If there is a problem with vprot, the toolbar is at fault and needs to be reinstalled. There was one click here to download and run the part of the program to fix the problem. However, I had WebRoot antivirus running that stopped the download of this program as a virus. Because I trust AVG, I've disabled WebRoot and reinstalled the AVG search bar.
I haven't restarted WebRoot and computer flying along as it should, and OE is the link to IE when I click on a link as it has always done.
Seems to me to be the faulty AVG toolbar and a cross with two virus programs upward was at fault. Thank you for your time. Your reply gave me a chance to think differently this problem could arise.
Computers are really complicated machines and we have to be complicated to deal with their problems.
Thanks again,
Fred
