  To delete an identity in Outlook Express, you must have already created secondary identity. In addition, you must also be logged on the second account to be able to remove the main account.
  Try the following:
  1. Of in Outlook Express, open the file menu, point to identities, click manage identities , and then click new.
  2. In the type your name box, type a name for the identity parameter.
  3. Click OK. Click Yes to the pop up to switch to the new identity now.
  4. Now open the windows to manage identity (step 1) again, select your old account and click on delete.

  This, of course, will remove anything within this identity, including emails and address book contacts.

• Can't the main Outlook Express identity

  I made a mistake and put in place a new identity of thought I changed just names - now I can not get my idenidy main return - when I start outlook it opens into the new identity but "unresponsive" so I can open anything in the toolbar so that I could edit in main identity.  What should I do?

  Folders.dbx is probably corrupted in the new identity.
   
  In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
   
  The path to the message will be very similar to this:
   
  C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express
   
  With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.
   
   
  You'll have a record of storage for two identities, but they will be easily identified by the names and sizes of the dbx files.

  For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

  If all else fails, try a new identity.

  You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

  Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  To import contacts and email from Hotmail addresses in your Outlook Express address book:

  • Set up access to your Hotmail account in Outlook Express.
    • If you already have contacts in your address book Outlook Express for the current identity and want to make sure that you only import Hotmail contacts, create a new Outlook Express identity for the Hotmail account.
  • Select Tools | Address book... from the menu in Outlook Express.
  • Choose Tools | Synchronize now in the menu of the address book.
    • If this choice is not available, make sure that you do not share contacts between Outlook Express and Outlook. Close and restart Outlook Express if you have made any changes to the contact sharing settings.
  • To import the contacts in a program other than Outlook Express e-mail, export the address book from the current identity and use the import feature of your mail client to add contacts from the .csv file.

  Follow these steps only if no one else is using this Outlook Express identity.

  1: in OE: tools | Accounts | Delete the account.

  2: delete all messages in the OE files and empty the deleted items folder.

  3: remove all the dbx files in the message of store with OE closed. When it is open, new, and create empty dbx files.

  Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP Pro.  My compose font is defined as Verdana 10 pt.  But when I compose a message now the text is 12 AND all attempts to change it to 10 in the wee top box have no effect - it boils down to 12.  And this applies to each of several alternative fonts (Verdana, Ariel,...) I tried.  I don't have this problem in the past.  Something changed - any ideas on how to fix?

  Certainly, reboot and see if something might get fixed by that.  Otherwise, you can go to file | Identities and establish a new identity.  This will give you a basis of costs of messages and fresh registry hive (where settings are stored for the most part) and that could fix the problem if its related to a kind of corruption of the registry.  It certainly won't hurt to try.  If it works, then you can go to file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.  You can also see what other programs are running.  It could be some kind of other program interfering.

  I get all my emails and all my contacts are using Outlook express for my e-mail - * address email is removed from the privacy *.   I did at least 6 years and more.   I recently had a "LogIn Identity" poster come up I have here NO password, because I can't get ANY of my emails.

  I am able to go online and get current email with Telus.  However, all my contacts and previous emails via Outlook and I prefer to use this system.

  I tried a fix with OMNITECH - who did online malicious components... knowing made unwanted change to Outlook Express data as well as the registry of the windows and currupted system some of the core system files.    They asked to take on my computer and fix it for a COST of course and I've been uncomforatable with access to my personal information and has failed at this.

  All I'm looking for is to come back to my Outlook express and remove this IDENTITY of the CONNECTION.

  Help, please!     I have access to another computer is possible to transfer or to open a new Outlook express and got all my emails and contacts SAVED :(   Please, or I just have this problem fixed on my current system.

  1. The error message indicates a corrupt Inbox.
  2. Messages if even received any at least in the second ID, in tools | Accounts, you also have the first account ID listed. First fix the Inbox.
   
   
  Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.
   
  Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.
