  Te cuento that vmware server probably only end of life algun momento.

  Te recommend that mrge into an ESXi server you dara mejor performance.

  If el domain controller are not full productive no you recommend instalar el vmware server ahi, perhaps you convenga migrar el rol del servidor e instalar esxi.

• Change the Cluster size in drive with VM-converter

  All the morning

  We'll probably replace our storage environment with that provided by a new provider.

  Our current provider has a recommended 4 k Cluster size. So all our VMDK is configured with a cluster of 4K, size happy days.

  However, the new seller we recommend 8 k.

  So I thought v2v ING our server domain to the new platform, change the size of the block in the Advanced tab of VM-converter in the process, which gives us the system formatted with 8 K blocks.

  There is however a Requirement MS that the system drive is 4 k (otherwise it wont power on). Its this little pesky 100 MB partition...

  Now comes the rub;

  The 100 MB system partition, part of the first drive (C:\). If I P2V the first drive with a cluster of 8 k size I of course get a non bootable server.

  When in fact I want actually to v2v 1 drive (C:\). As 8 KB, but leave the small single 100 MB system partition with the default of 4 k, however because they are part of the same disc, and converter seems to work at a disk level and not the level of the Partition, converter just wants to make all that is a problem.

  Any ideas on how to accomplish the foregoing.

  Sorry for the delay, we are testing at the mo and I could not devote much time to this.

  Any ways I cracked it, I was testing on a 2 k 3 box where something like minitool would be necessary to finish the change of cluster size in the C:\ for the reasons given.

  But when v2v - ing (with VM converter) a k box 8 or 2012 2 the system partition is presented to the converter as an independent drive and can therefore remain @ 4 k while the C:\ D:\ etc. can be adjusted as required using the advanced settings.

  So in the end, you have a system with drives using the required cluster size and a system bootable...

  just for future reference should it be useful to anybody.

  If you have than instalarlo. In el propio Assistant tienes los clearly previos para cada parte of the instalacion del vCenter. Para instalar el vCenter antes tienes than tener wont como minimo el vCenter Single-Sign-On y el vCenter Inventory Service, sino los tienes obtienes pones el that error.   Tengo poca experiencia in el mundo virtualizacion are only hace poco me he implies in el tema y tan solo hemos inplementado a small proeycto, pero ahora tenemos a client that needs to respond to alta availability una para sus servidores.

  A nivel logico haber back servidores has: 1 server windows 2003 (dominio driver) + SQL Server y 1 servidor correo (there is vera if Widnows o Linux)

  MI idea're poner servidores 2 fisicos 2 Xeon Quadcore processor con HP y 4 GB RAM in cada uno. MI primera duda surge in el tema del storage, yo quisiera poner una cabina discos NAS externa con tarjetas back Gigabit (host of para cada una). Creeis as I can get a good performance? Me aconsejais alguna cabina discos in concreto? Perhaps, mejor seria una cabina Fibra? me aconsejais alguna?

  No you I can recommend cabinas, ago that no he tenido posibilidad trabajar con none (directly as sirvan con iSCSI o NFS).  Trabajo con cabinas Dell MD1000 y PV220S, conectadas a UN servidor.  In una utilizo SAS/SATA discos y en otra SCSI, both have through NFS, me responden well.  Been mejor las MD1000, mas wall.

• P2V. Server 2003 R2 w / extended drives

  I P2V had an instance of Server 2003 R2 and in VMware converter I had develop three volumes:

  C - system

  D data

  E - newspapers

  When that I start the VM, my computer won't display the D drive was correctly extended. C and E kept their original storage space.

  When I open the Disk Manager, it shows that all three have been extended.

  In Diskpart, it also shows that all three have been extended.

  Can someone point me in the right direction to get the other two correctly extended?

  It's weird... it usually works very well.

  If the converter doesn't do the trick for some reason, perhaps a workaround might be a good solution here. If your converter does not work properly with any machine, then maybe another instance of converter can help you.

• Problem adding a second drive to VM after P2V using Stand Alone inverter

  Let me preface this with anguish and you say how much of a hassle it has been from the beginning.

  We owe to P2V a server having a 25gig main drive and a 8gig of secondary disk for data. We had to move the files a long distance with the help of FTP, so offers them to us in some regions, by ensuring that all files have reached their proper destination.

  We have the files downloaded in the SAN and much to my surprise, the second disc of data showed as a *-flat.vmdk file without header hard file. I opened the browser and the virtual machine added to the inventory, but couldn't turn on with the second disc attached. I removed the second disk of the virtual machine and it has started well. But now I have a car I can access.

  I would like to convert the *-file flat.vmdk to work hard file but I'm not sure how with my limited resources. I don't have the vSphere client to work with. I downloaded the RCLI for vSphere but I have to be honest, I'm not very good with scripts.

  But the notes are asking me to use the console, which I do not have access with 4 ESXi and vSphere Client.

  You can run through to revive the P2V conversion and just select the second drive. It's probably the easiest get right.

  There is an on W2008 witch boot partition, that you keep during the conversion. There is no drive letter for this partition. It is not obvious that this is the problem with your conversion, please download bundle of newspaper.

  Por lo me comment, Hi intentando desde DC-03 access a DC-02 con el usuario administrator of local DC-03? In ese caso not you work, than conectarte desde DC-03 have a DC-02 con el usuario administrator of DC-02 o a usuario con dominio los privilegios suficientes como para hacer esta Acción.

  El el client XP you can access using known user, this probably estara dentro del grupo users of DC - 02 usuario y por eso you permite el acceso.

  Prueba lo siguiente:

  (1) create a usuario en activo (DC-01 en el) directory con su contrasena.

  (2) add este usuario in the local group 'Administrators' cada uno de los servidores members DC-02 y DC-03. Para ello logoneate con el usuario local administrator of each of e servidores Members introduce el usuario en activo, el grupo directors directory created.

  While the two results in a P2V and share some code/software between then, however, they are different products.  The Agent of Migration of VMware Fusion is a limited subset of what VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is able to do.  You said in your OP ""is there a way I can create a vmware file that I can move in a HARD drive rather than perform the migration on the network?". VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is the way to go if that's what you want to do.  Personally I would never, under any circumstances use the Agent of Migration of VMware Fusion and instead use other disk imaging software then manually create a Virtual Machine VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is the way to go otherwise.

  Yes I was going to say that it was probably created as an IDE drive.  Those who have problems growing, or it's not as easy as SCSI.  You can try and P2V system and make a SCSI drive in the P2V process.  I did before moving a system off IDE to SCSI on the virtual machine.  However, if you have pictures or anything else you need to clean up before the P2V process.
