P4015tn HP: HP P4015tn print quality and ghosting

The printer is used in a printing invoice detail environment print sheets of 200-300 per day.

Ghosting of the invoice headers was noted a few weeks previously and only on the day first few bills.  Last week, they appear on each invoice.  The machine has been cleaned with compressed air and a new toner cartridge installed. The ghost images are gone.

Now there is a print light about 1/4 "wide vertically area down the page in the lines of print 3" between the left edge of the page and a little ink in the center of the Bill.

What should be my next step to address these gaps?

Assessment of SHThompson of your question is wrong.

A ghost on a printed page image problem is a defective fuser unit. In a printer, the toner is applied to the page. The toner and paper and then through the fuser unit. The fuser unit uses high temperatures to instantly melt the toner on the page. When everything works, you get crisp clean pages.

However, the fuser unit may fail in a couple of ways that give rise to two different types of "ghosting":

The first type of ghost image may appear as a sort of a shadow fuzzy on all texts and lines. This means that the fuser is misaligned: it is fusion toner to the correct places, but then also merge toner a milimeter or further down the page.

The second type of ghost image may appear as a repetition of printing several inches higher, or to the previous page. This is a more severe form of alignment where Fuser is rolling through a quarter of the page and the merger of the excesses of toner of an earlier model.

In both cases, you must replace the fuser unit.  If your printer is under warranty, HP should be good enough to send you a replacement unit. Otherwise, prices between HP and 3rd suppliers and 3rd party manufacturers will vary greatly, so to go around. Ovens may be available as standalone units or as kits which also includes supplies and replacement rolls. Decide what is best for you. There are YouTube videos that show you how to replace the fuser unit yourself, which is a bit like replace the toner cartridge, except the fuser unit is at the back of the printer.

Good luck. And don't forget, the compressed air cleaning is harmless. Feel free to do it regularly. Your printer can handle very well.

After installing the hp deskjet printer 2540, all operating systems (vista, windows, mac os, windows 8) correctly printed.

I would like to prevent the printing of print quality page whenever the printer is on and to prevent print also the page "use printer wireless without router" (it would be better not to waste the ink).

Thanks for any help you can provide

    Hi there @lesart55.

    Welcome to the HP community!

I have seen your post on how your Deskjet 2540 prints a page of print quality every time that the printer is on, and also the page "use printer wireless without router" is printing.

I'll start with the PQ page that prints at the start of the printer, as it is normally a sign of a hardware problem with the printer.

Try to update the firmware on the printer. Here is the link to download and run the update using a USB connection to your Vista system: HP Deskjet 2540 series Firmware update

Try a reset of the power to the printer and make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help greatly.

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

If the PQ page always print after you are done troubleshooting, try the steps outlined in this guide below. I looked at the steps that I see would take place in the tent for your specific problem and chose the steps following, Please do not take account of the actual title.

  • Photosmart more B210a no impression and the poor print quality options

I have a Mac running osx10.9.4 and a connected wireless, B210a printer all-in-one. Everything works well until a recent update that removed all the printing options (color / gray scale / etc. of paper type and print quality)

The last thing to print very well were some photos in July. Since then whenever I try to print, the black is so fake and colors too bright - almost as if she always strives to pring on photo paper. When we do a re alignment or own heads, prints in black as it should, but every other time, it is terrible. I am a independent and I occasionally print estimates out to customers... but I can't at the moment.

My son has the same problem with the same printer of his macbook (unknown model / system information)

Don't know what to do and don't want not throw everything out the window in a fit of anger... Please help!

    Hello

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

Sorry to hear about the recent issues with the B210a Photosmart on Mac 10.9.4. The printer will copy without any quality problem?

    I would try the following on the Mac;

    1. Reset the printing on Mac system. (Mac OS x: how to reset the printing system)
    2. Repair disk permissions (ignore the statement about 10.7)
    3. Download and install this: v.2.16.1 for OS X HP printer drivers.
    4. Add the printer using print and scan from system preferences.

Let me know if this helped.

  • HP Photosmart C 4680: C4680 - Test ok but the alignment page is of poor quality and can not print a good quality copy now

After changing the black cartridge, we are not able to print a page of alignment of good quality, although the test page prints fine. We tried to align page alignment of old and of good quality, and he is still not able to print a good quality alignment page. We have tried to clean the print head, but it cleans only the first round. It is a brand new HP cartridge that is used. Do we need a new cartridge or is there something else we can do? Thank you.

Thank you for your response. I have contact support who thought that it was a problem of breakdown of pen and I ended up having to buy a new printer.

  • How can I change the print quality of 72 dpi and 300 dpi?

When I try to print the image from my library on my printer fate at very low resolution. There is nothing wong with the printer - if I use another program to print the results are perfect. How can I change the resolution settings in Windows 7?

    Hello Robin,.

Although some applications allow you to change the settings for printing (as parameters of the screen), print quality is generally a function of the properties of the printer. Go to the Control Panel, select devices and printers, then select the printer in question. Right-click on the printer, select Properties, and then look for quality printing or the DPI settings page to change the resolution of your default printer. Once the resolution was increased, Windows will display the new default setting.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

  • Unable to print black and white with an empty cartridge

My printer will not print not black-and-white, except when a color cartridge is replaced empty.

How can I print black with an empty color in place cartridge?

Some IIC (individual ink cartridge) printers have print heads that require ink available for periodic maintenance tasks. This avoids problems with hooves in the print head and the bad print quality. The following printers are unable to print when a cartridge is empty, even if the other cartridges.

If one or more color ink cartridges are low but not empty and you want to minimize the use of color ink, you can change the settings in the HP software to print in black ink only (grey levels). Even if you change the print settings to print in black ink only, the other ink cartridges still have ink in them so that the printer to print.

If you choose to print in black ink only, the printer always uses small amounts of ink from all cartridges for occasional maintenance tasks. HP recommends to replace the low ink cartridges in order to avoid any interruption in printing.

  • HP Envy 4504: Envy 4504 photo prints too red with print quality = better

    Hello

    I hope someone can help.

On my HP Envy 4504 photos are printed OK print normal quality, but when the print quality is set to best photos are printed to the red. In addition, with DPI Maximum printing photos are much too red.

This takes place two times printed on paper Normal and on Photo paper

With the GIMP, I tried to make an example of how a photoprint looks like.

I made the example by changing the color Balance: Red cyan - about + 40:

    (my GIMP is Dutch...)

    Here is the result:

LEFT: Photo printed in normal quality; Photo on the RIGHT printed in better quality:

I have already completely remove the software HP Envy and did a clean reinstall. No change.

I have print-head - cleaning cycles (2 times); color of HP-testprint strips looks very good: all are strong in alignment is correct

Unfortunately: No picture change in best quality still too red.

    The ink levels are okay.

Any suggestions what is wrong and what can solve this problem?

    Thank you for your support

SHThompson: Thanks a lot for trying to help.  After posting my problem, I discovered that I was not correctly interpret diagnostic color and, in fact, more photo black ink required.  You have one today and after putting in the paper upside down (as you pointed out could happen)], and then fix that, I could print my photos.

  • OfficeJet pro 8500: print heads and things

OK, maybe it's a bit confusing. I have three printers Officejet 8500. No. 1 went into a never-ending cycle of clean print heads (after more than 30,000 pages) and without me being in the room the right side of the printer depot of ink on the table. Tried the reset but not good. Bought a second hand and after a few weeks, it came in paper jam mode. Could not resolve so finally bought number three. Works a treat and has no problem. Numbers one and two are for recycling. Print heads removed and stored in an airtight box with damp cloth. What is staging. Now after spending all that money, the last thing I want, it's having problems with number three. However, I have three cartridge sets new and unopened from PC World (their own brand) which cost £39. They came with the number two of the machine. They are not dated and has no way to know at what age they are. They are not oem, I can't any advice on their likely performance, but what worries me, is can the ink begins to solidify and block print heads as they age? Like I said they are still sealed. If I change the cartridge and use a spare set of the print heads to check the print output and that something is wrong if I can swap cartridges and print heads back without the printer enter the cycle of constant head cleaning. I know there have been issues with these printers but mine is on 27 000 pages and all tests are reports back in good health. I have also several chips of HP cartridges genuine that I can use.  Sorry as that a little long-winded.

    Hello @notahappybunny,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand that you have some questions and concerns about your ink cartridges non OEM 8500 and some.

    I would like to help.

The following document explains on the expiry of the ink.

Consumable inkjet HP - ink Expiration

From what I've read, it's I think I understand that the ink may change over time.

Because ink is sealed I don't think they're going to solidify, but the pigment used in the ink may eventually separate from water. This will certainly cause print quality problems.

In addition, your first 8500 printhead might not be good.

A bad print head may cause the impression of entering the cycle without end cleaning.

I hope that I have answered your question.

  • print quality

I have HP officejet Pro 8600.  When sending e-mail using eprint.

    (1) how to configure it to send to the printer and print using lower quality (project) in color or B & W?

    (2) is there a possibility to limit the pages # to print?  (incase didn't realize an email or attachment is very long), as a stop-gap protection?

    Thank you!

Hi there, if you use the ePrint service by sending an e-mail to the e-mail address of printers is not a way to set print quality settings. However if you print from a smartphone or tablet, you can set the quality of the individual print jobs by downloading and using the application mobile ePrint.
