  (1) once will open the support page please select the country in which you are

  located. Then enter your model of HP on the right number.

  (2) then choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the

  bottom of the page "HP Support - Contact" to fill in the form provided

  your contact information.

  (3) Once finished, click the "Show Options" at the bottom right.

  (4) Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and select ' Get phone

  number. "A file number and telephone number will now fill for you.

  If you are still in warranty, I'd contact HP to help you replace heads printing or printer service.

  I bought my printer a while ago and implemented so I could print wireless from my Mac. The other day I had to print some PDF documents and printed first, but the other two never printed.   Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

  I see that you have some problems with your machine printing Mac OSX 10.11 for the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540. I can help you with that.

  To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected.
  2. Turn the printer off.
  3. While the printer is turned off, disconnect the power cable from the back of the router.
  4. When the lights come back on the router, turn on the printer.
  5. Close any programs you have open.
  6. On your Mac, click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
  7. Hold down the CTRL key and click on an icon of your printer on the left.
  8. Click on reset printing system.
  9. Click the 'more' in the lower left corner.
  10. Select your printer from the list.
  11. Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
  12. Click on Add.

  I replaced all 4 cartridges in my printer and tried to print a form, but the black ink is not printing. Thinking perhaps that I bought a defective cartridge, I bought another but I'll always have the same problem.   I went through the diagnostic process because my printer gives me a view of alignment failed and my black ink will not print.   It is established that I need to replace the print head.  Is it complicated?  What should I do when I need the printer/fax every day?  I have no time for that computer to be down for a day, and even less for as long as it takes to get the part here and replace it myself.  Or worse, if I send to HP to have the work done.

  Replacement of the print head is not complicated, it can be done in 5 minutes.  Before doing this, you could be sure that the ventilation openings are not connected and you might try to soak the printhead as shown here.

  Thanks for the reply and the information

  I suggest you start as a result of this document for Troubleshooting print quality problems, should be able to help you to get black ink works again. If it isn't, you can also try manually cleaning your print head to make sure there isn't a buildup preventing out black ink.

  If the printer still won't print black ink, it is perhaps an accumulation inside the print head or on the beak and to help solve this problem, you can follow the instructions in Bob_Headrick in this post on soak your printhead.

  If after these three things, black is not always print, it's a hardware problem with the printer print head and I suggest to call HP Support and inquire about their exchanges of and the trade program.
