  If the old system does not start could be the hard drive. Put the hard drive in another computer as a 2nd drive and then access the files. If you use a computer XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should be able to access the files, unless the drive has failed.

  You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd drive (better) or a USB external drive case and then save up to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

  Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This will not work if the hard disk is defective or other issues preventing the system from booting from the CD/DVD drive.)

• HARD drive is not detected in BIOS - need to recover data.

  I am currently evaluate the trial version with a view to buy for my place of work (not for profit public health service). On my computer at home, the product installed and works perfectly. However I installed it on two computers at work. The two seem to install fine with no error message whenever I try to launch Captivate, after that choose Run as a trial and clicking on continue it just doesn't work.
  The only reason I can think is "my documents" to points of work to a network drive and I read only only permissions at the root of it (permissions for some total subfolders, however). My question is "fact Captivate needs full access to the my Docs to properly install folder? I tend to remember that there is a folder called My Captivate or something that he wrote to this place.

  The answer is certainly 'YES '. I had to get the COMPUTER consultants that allows the company to create a 'my Adobe Captivate projects' under 'My Documents' folder, then it worked fine.
  It would be nice if Adobe actually gave the user the option where she wants this file created. It could default to "My Documents" if they want to, but might allow a user to designate a different folder if necessary. Have the same problem with Adobe Bridge, which is really annoying.   I even tried to start FireFox in safe mode and got the same result. I also tried after logging on Amazon, first.

  When I pull up the Task Manager, it shows FireFox with about 25% of the available CPU resources, and the amount of memory used just constantly increases. I let it run for about an hour before ending, and he went from about 350 KB to 3 MB of memory. I suspect that it is in some kind of loop...?

  What antivirus you have installed before? Is the virus/malware-free system? If you have a current antivirus installed and you went through at least some of the malware removal steps I list in the link I have given if you are sure that the system is clean, uninstall McAfee and see if that solves your problem. If you connect to the Internet behind a router, you can be sure for this quick test. If you are connected directly to a cable/dsl modem, then firstly download Avast or even Microsoft Security Essentials (both free). Then, disconnect from the Internet and uninstall McAfee. Install the antivirus of your choice and test. If all goes well, your problems have been caused by McAfee. This is not surprising since McAfee is perhaps the worst choice for safety, we could do.
