  If you have purchased a package, then you should have instructions in the box on how to present your credentials. If you have purchased Adobe online, then you should have received instructions in an email. But here is a link that might help you.   Joanne, please remove your current installation of Photoshop Lightroom by using the uninstall program located in the/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

  You will then want to download Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1 of Adobe - Lightroom: for Macintosh.  The update contains the entire application.  Photoshop Lightroom cannot be installed through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application and still be allowed with a serial number.

  It gives you an option to connect or upgrade this software under license. If yes click identify you / license of this software to go further and turn it on. If it's a perpetual license activate by entering your serial key and connecting and if it is a subscription then just sign in with your Adobe it will activate a said.
