  • Data transfer Assistant - doesn't recognize palm desktop

I have a Palm Tungsten e I installed Palm Desktop v6.2 so I could transfer my data on my new Pre phone.  My Pre phone is plugged into the USB port on my computer and I selected the USB key on the phone. I then started the data transfer Assistant, has chosen to run, chose following the Welcome screen, chose following to the login window since I already have my phone connected pre, says next message window ' although Palm Desktop is installed, there is no data to transfer.

This is incorrect. my Palm Desktop contains data.  Why the data transfer Assistant say that?  The only option is left.  How do I get past this so I can transfer my data?

I did setup a Google mail account and put that on my phone but it seems not to matter.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I found the solution to my problem with the DTA does not transfer my data from Palm to my Pre phone.  Here are the steps I took:

    (1) backed up the data of palm on my external hard drive

    (2) uninstalling palm desktop and palm versalmail by using Add/Remove programs

    (3) record deleted program files/palm

    (4) pc reloaded

    (5) installed Palm Desktop V6.2

    (6) synchronize Tungsten E PDA to pc

    (7) made 3 new Palm Desktop: 1 user profiles for the calendar, 1 book, 1 for memos address (got this tip from another validation)

    (8) exported calendar data in the profile calendar, address to the address profile data and data Memo memo profile

    (8) DTA started

    (9) selected a profile suitable to transfer to pre - done 3 times.  Wanted to make sure that each type of data transferred correctly and it also gave me the opportunity to choose where I wanted to save the data

  • HP Mini 210: Palm Desktop (see 6.2.2) lost address book during and after the upgrade to Windows from December 10

The problem is not with the HP Mini. This computer is running Windows 7 Starter and he Hotsyncs perfectly with my Tungsten C handheld. The problem is with a Dell Vostro, but because it is a problem of Palm, I hope you can help.

My Dell Vostro has been upgraded to Windows 10 in September. I had a few problem get the Palm to synchronize at this time, but I thought her and successfully synched bases Memo, address and the Date of all the way up to 10 Windows update that Microsoft pushed around Christmas.

The first Hot Sync attempt after the update given my address book disappear from desktop ONLY (running version 6.2.2) and I was not able to find a way to restore the address book on the desk.

Handheld still works fine. As I said the HotSync with the HP Netbook (Windows 7 Starter Edition) and I would like to continue to use it as long as ITO still works.

Try using the Import/Export built-in in Palm Desktop.

On the PC that contains the data, go to File/Export (while the address book is open and being viewed).  This will produce a file that you can copy to the Dell PC.  Use a flash drive, Cloud Computing service, card SD - it doesn't matter.

On the Dell, go to file/import and locate the file.

Windows 10 has caused some 'quirks' to appear in Palm Desktop.  We learn that we will!

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 Windows 8 missing modules after the update to version 4.1.4

After installing Palm Desktop 6.2.2 version 4.1.4 on my laptop to Windows 8 for use with my Palm Tungsten E2, I now only 4 modules... Fees, Note Pad, media and install. Where have calendar, addresses, etc., disappear to?

Version 7.0.2 HotSync Manager also offers, USB, network and series, but NOT the Bluetooth in connection settings. I use an IVT BlueSoleil Bluetooth adapter and their driver/software version 8.0.395.0, which works very well with anything else.

GoneFishin6, I suggest you clean uninstall/reinstall Palm Desktop.

Your question is the first I've heard of.  Others report success with Win8.

These instructions are for Vista, but should work for Win8.

You first need to you a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by clicking on start-> Documents-> Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy. Then go to the desktop of your PC, click on a blank spot block and select.

If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step. If you are not concerned about your data at this stage, go to the next step.

Now, you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do with Palm Desktop on your computer. Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below. [C:\Program Files\Palm or C:\Users\[Vista Palm connection name] \appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne C:\Users\[Vista Login Name] \appdata * note you may need to show hidden folders to join appdata. To do than to go into your control panel and open folder options. Go to tab and uncheck hide hidden files.

When you use Palm desktop 6.2, look in my documents or documents and delete the folder Office of PalmOS. It is the location of the PD 6.2 data files.

Once this is done, you will need to remove certain keys in the registry of your PC operating system.

Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC to start, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel that you are not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to remove. To make sure that we have a good copy of the current registry, we make a backup of the registry.

Go to start on your PC in the search box type "regedit.exe" without the quotes.

Point peak COMPUTER, go to file-> Export. Should appear with a save as box. Current place of residence is fine, must be within My Documents, or save to a location that you will remember. In the name of the file in low type "backup [todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. You will be asked, you of course. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.

The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys will not be here, but if they remove them)

    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer * Robotics\Pilot Desktop HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then, restart your computer.

Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If request you a user name, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right of the screen to hotsync.

  • After synchronization, nothing appears on Palm Desktop

My Verizon Treo 650 works perfectly. It syncs also perfectly to my computer, install new programs that I had to and did not have any kind of evil.

Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is my default program for managing any kind of files for palm, but when it is opened there is absolutely NOTHING that my Palm sync showing up for her. No telephone contacts, dates, whatever it is.

I don't have a data plan, so I do not use Outlook or have contacts or addresses in there, but shouldn't my phone contacts and dates be saved and showing on Palm Desktop?

Thanks in advance for any help to solve this.

All right. Palm desktop is currently set to synchronize with Outlook. But you want to sync with Palm desktop. On the PC goto START, all programs, then to Palm. You should see the led sync PIM. Select sync with Palm Desktop.

  • 64 bit Windows7/8/8.1/10 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Thank you people much more to Aceeca.com (Palm OS Garnet NEW manufacturers), the USB drivers for Vista, Windows 7 and 8 Win 64 bit operating systems are available.  There are many users Palm Desktop 4.x strives also to the declaration.

I have synced my TX my Vista64 laptop computer bits and Windows 8.1 HP spectrum X 2 hybrid successfully through my USB cable.

    The drivers are located here:

    Aceeca Driver Downloads

(NOTE: as of today, 01/08/2016 Aceeca site to be down for 'construction'.)  Drivers can also be found here: http://www.palmdr.com/windows-7-64-bit-usb-drivers)

Installation instructions for Windows 7 (from Aceeca) are included in the download.

    Basic instructions:

1 download the drivers and extract them in the same folder.  Remember the folder that you extracted to.

    2. try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.

    3. open the Device Manager and look for the yellow Triangle next to the other "Acceca" or "'Palm device ' in the"Other devices"section."

    4. right click on the device and choose "Update driver software".

    5. choose "Browse my computer for software" and guide them to the folder that you extracted the drivers Aceeca.

6 choose 'Next' in the driver and then file location window tell him 'Confidence always Aceeca Ltd. software', then click on the button "install".

    7. I received an error message (Vista64) who told me "the drivers have been installed, but the device could not be opened." I realized my TX had expired, and fell asleep.  I tried a HotSync and it worked!

    Good luck!

NOTE: Palm Desktop 6.22 may only multimedia show and install.  Here's how to fix this:

If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 shows only the media and installation, try this: right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, and then choose 'run as administrator '.  Other modules should appear.

To Palm Desktop run as administrator every time in Windows 8 / 8.1:

Close to Palm Desktop, if it is open.  (This is a very important thing to do when you use 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)

Right click on the desktop icon of Palm in the metro screen, then choose "open file location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.

Right-click on the file "Palm Desktop" shortcut, then properties.  Now, choose the tab compatibility at the top.

At the bottom of the Compatibility tab is a checkbox: "run this program as an administrator", click OK.

Try to open the Palm Desktop, all parties must appear.  You can see a box opens when you close the program asking "did the program runs correctly.   I chose 'Yes', and it has been working fine since then!

If you are using a much older PalmOS device and try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch Pimlico Software:

It is me, and after some research, I discovered the following trick that allows Device Manager to display hidden and devices not present.

Open Notepad and paste the following two lines are:

    Set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES = 1
    Start devmgmt.msc

Save it as SetDev.bat in My Documents.

Open My Documents in Windows Explorer and double-click SetDev.bat. Device Manager opens.

On the view menu, select Show hidden devices.

You can now see in the other position of the device with a yellow triangle against it.

You can now proceed to install the drivers according to the instructions.

  • Palm Desktop 4.2: Palm Desktop 4.2 on Windows 32-bit 10

This isn't a question, some information for fanatical Palm users who might be interested.

Because I have some old software I want to continue to use, I installed the 32-bit version of Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion 1d21dx g6.

I used to synchronize my Palm Centro on a machine to Vista 32 bit running Palm Desktop 6.2. Because some very useful features (such as the birthday in the calendar reminders) disappeared in this version, after setting up 10 32-bit Windows, I decided to try to use Palm Desktop 4.2, the version supplied with my Centro. I am happy to report that I have installed the software, did a HotSync, and everything went very well [WELL, i thought THAT this was the CASE - SEE below]. Now I have all my stuff on the phone and on the machine Windows 10, complete with birthday in the calendar reminders.

The only problem that I had was settting place pipes HotSync for some Palm OS with counterparts of office applications, but in any case, I was able to get the pipes installed by the application of counterpart temporarily running in Windows XP compatibility mode. Once the pipes are put in place, it seem to not need to run anything in compatibility, or administrator mode [WRONG - SEE below].

I have not heard a lot about the 32-bit version of Windows 10, but I like it. I found that it is very fast, and I still have to find an old Windows application that she will not be executed.

I found a solution that worked for me. I realized that something on my setup of Palm caused my Palm user directory switch between C:\Program Files\Palm\Username and C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\Username, leading to duplicate reports, missing documents and the General problems of HotSync. I do not know what exactly triggers the switch every time (I don't think it was just the question of admin rights as I at first suspected), but I think it had to do with some of my Palm to be older than other applications. In other words, some were apparently designed or implemented to date with new versions of Windows in mind, while others were not, and HotSync Manager could not deal with that, because I had everything installed.

In any case, everything started to work properly after I installed Palm Desktop 4.2 directly in the folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\

(Of course, in all the above examples, substitute your own "Username" username.)

My thought was to avoid the switch between the location of the traditional repertoire of the Palm and the location of the user directory style Vista by installing Palm software directory in the Vista style directory. I have not experienced any important matter. The only minor issue I have is that HotSync Manager does not automatically start despite being listed in the Startup tab in the Manager of tasks. I'm not going to tinker with compatibility modes and privileges trying to HotSync Manager starts when the computer starts. It is easy enough to just run it whenever I have to synchronize.

You will also need to consider the order in which you install your office-side applications. For example, I found that one of my apps should be executed only once with admin rights so that he could establish his lines. Which seems to trigger a change in the location of the user directory for another application that I use - that does not allow the user to specify an installation directory. I got around this by implementing these apps in the order that I mentioned, while the other user directory would not be changed after creating the first led her.

Of course, my solution has its limits, but it works for my single-user installation.

  • How to copy the data from Palm Desktop on a PC running Windows 8.1

If like me you still find the Palm Desktop data (addresses, calendar, notes, etc.) handy and use it long after throwing the combined capacity and 'sync', you can see this is useful.  I bought a new PC running Windows 8.1 and had problems with data transfer due to a problem as I understand it, which does not exist in Windows XP, Vista or 7 versions.  Here is a summary of a way to easily transfer data from these earlier versions if you have a USB flash drive (or Dropbox, Google Drive, whatever) very convenient:

    (1) Download Palm Desktop 6.2 or 6.2.2 to your new PC.  Give a user name exactly as it exists in the database from your old PC.  This name will serve as Office Automation to create a folder name of six letters (an abbreviated version of your name) to hold the data that Palm Desktop will turn upward.  Wait a few seconds for this to happen, and then close the application on your new desktop.

    (2) in your old PC you want to transfer data from, find the folder named "Palm OS Desktop" which should exist in 'Documents' under path of folder and subfolders 'Users' as > your subfolder name > Documents in Windows 7 (can also be Vista) or may be under "Documents and Setting" folder in Windows XP.

    (3) in this folder "Palm OS Desktop" search this subfolder of six letters of your name and select this whole subfolder and select 'Copy' or Ctrl-C

    (4) locate the same name of subfolder in your new PC (which will have data zero), delete and then 'paste' the subfolder you "copied" in the exact same location.  If you did it right, Viola!  Your new desktop PC should display all the transferred data, once you open the application again.

Most of the same procedure works with PC Windows 8.1 (probably also Windows 8).  What I found different is that the subfolder of data created under "Palm OS Desktop} had 7 instead of 6 characters with a"0"(zero), added as the last character.  When finally, you copy and paste this subfolder in the new PC there so rename and add "0" for the Palm Desktop to locate these data.

    I hope this helps.

Data in XP is located in C:\Program Files\Palm (or PalmOne) \ < your HotSync name truncated > \Backup.

HotSync for Win8 has been available for quite a while now!  See the post at the beginning of this section called "64-bit Windows USB drivers for Palm Desktop" for instructions and driver downloads.

Palm Desktop 4.x and 6.2.2 use different database formats - 6.2.2 went to .mdb as an extension.

Best way to migrate data is to perform a HotSync on the new machine, or use the built-in in Palm Desktop Export/Import option.  Export the addresses and calendar files, and then copy those of the new machine.

The import option to retrieve data.

I run Palm TX on desktop PC Windows XP with Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and laptop Windows Vista business - no problem with the Xp machine

Palm Desktop by Access 6.2.2 worked but now only shows the multimedia options and install - everything else like calendar and address book does not appear. Installation of the Tools Option shows only the media as Start Up application while the Synchronization Manager Hot shows like (such as calendar and address book) checked (selected) and synchronize files.

First of all, I used the repair option of access, then the option remove access and followed by a relocation of access etc, but access see the only media and install.

I had tried to get the Palm TX to run the Bluetooth and WiFi on the Vista laptop without success and removed the battery Bluetooth BlueSoleil and Driver v2.6.0.1 and succeeded him. I did see if Palm would work with another usb Bluetooth key and solve another problem. It is at this point that I noticed that Palm Desktop by Access did not show the normal functions. I rebooted BlueSoleil and I still have that media and install it on the Palm Desktop.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get Palm Desktop to work properly.

  • Palm Desktop password protection

Although I no longer use my handheld device Palm (Treo 755 p) I use the desktop app from Palm on my computers, mainly because I like the software allows for the protection of specific password of any given note, contact, or another entry.  When I recently added software for my new Surface 2 Pro 8.1 Windows running, it seems to work correctly.  However, when I tried configured for password protect the program, it shows that a password is not assigned and notes that I have to put a password in the device.   The device has a password, but I can't connect to the Surface either via USB or Bluetooth.   Apparently, the two are incompatible.  However, the kicker is that on my tablet running Windows 7, the password that I use to enter the desktop application is NOT the same as that defined for the device.   I don't remember how I put this on the Windows 7 computer, but I guess I had connect both devices.   Please help if you know of a way for me to use my password on the Surface without connecting to the Palm, or if you know how I can connect the Palm to the Surface Pro.    FYI, when I use bluetooth to try to connect to the Surface and the Palm, a password is generated for the Bluetooth connection and as soon as I get it, I indicate that it is connected to the Palm.  However, after about 5 seconds, it shows no connection.  The same result occurs whenever this is attempted.

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Not sure about the problem of password.  There are several users in the program?  Could you be redirected to another by mistake?

Most likely the Surface runs a 64-bit version of Win8, correct?

You should see the message sticky at the top of this section on the 64-bit drivers USB for Palm Desktop.  This can allow you to Hotsync via a USB cable.

This is the first post I've seen on the synchronization to a tablet of Surface!  Please keep us informed as to the outcome.

The installation directory is strange - I agree that could be the source of the problem.

On the laptop ready Win8.1, I have the HP (for my participation in the Forums), the directory is:

    C:\Users\ < I > \Documents\PalmOS Desktop

I backup the user data, uninstall Palm Desktop, and then reinstall and pay attention to where she has choices.
