parallel port Laserjet 1100

I have a HP Laserjet 1100, which is still going strong. None of my current laptops have a parallel port connection. They all simply the USB ports. So I decided to go and buy a parallel port print server

(StarTech.com 1 Port 10/100 Mbps parallel network print server (PM1115P))

http://tinyurl.com/6ct36xf

to connect the printer directly to my network Amazon home.

It arrived today and I discovered that the print server is parallel port is different from the one on the LJ 1100, which is much smaller.  If the connection of the printer port must not be a parallel port, I thought.

So, I have to go back to Amazon. My question is: what type of port the 1100 there if it is not a parallel port? What type of print server do I need to connect it to the network?

Thank you.

Correction:

I need a converter of males (HP) mini parallel centronic female parallel .

Maybe it's the right pair.

I'll check.

I have a HP LaserJet 1100 printer. Works fine on my old desktop pc. I recently replaced the office with a laptop of HP under Win7. My question is this: can I connect the printer to my laptop? I think that the interface of the printer is a parallel port; is that correct? Are there devices out there that can convert a parallel interface for a series/usb interface? And finally, this printer can be controlled with Win7?

    Hey Mitch,.

Thanks for the information continues.  For installation information using the driver OS package, please read the following link.

The 1100 series you provided the product number to use a standard parallel port and not the Mini Centronics.  The cable that you have linked with parallel to USB would be the best bet to make this work.

You use the same computer?  Newer computers often do not have a parallel port.

Windows 7 should be the base for this printer drivers.  It uses a simple command language print.  When it is connected to your computer, go to install a new printer.  You may need to find manually through the library of Windows because most directly connected printers this old will not visible to the computer until the pilots will seek.  It should take only a few minutes.

If all else fails...  AND if you do not have a parallel port...  Go to the HP website and search for the software and drivers for 1100 drivers.  If you can't find them there, check for any PCL5 driver.  Download it and let it find the printer.

I hope this helps.  Write back if you get stuck.

  • Printers in double parallel port in Windows 7

I finally got my Laserjet 1100 to run in Windows 7, after discovering that the parallel port card, I installed in the computer reports as LPT3 and COM3. I had installed several times on LPT1, which makes sense in time, but it is now clear to me that Windows 7 reserves somehow LPT1, LPT2, COM1 and COM2.  Once I updated the LPT1 port installation, everything became nice to me.

Accordingly, I have several parallel port 1100 LaserJet install, Copy (1) copy (2), etc.

I don't see any what parallel port printers in printers HP install page but I would like to delete the extra copies.  How can I do this without having to edit the registry.  I can't see anywhere them.

Should be a simple problem.  The printer now prints correctly, using a driver supplied in Windows 7 (driver MS), but the scan function is no longer available.  I read somewhere that this would be the case.

I also use COM3 to synchronize my PDA Palm Pilot, something I have used for years. (I just got a driver for the PDA Installer, nestled in the saved XP files. It is not available online AFAIK.)

An example: the name of the printer HP1100 (copy 2), etc.  They all had (MS) under the name of the pilot, indicating that it came with Windows 7.

    Thank you

  • Parallel ports vs trashing printers

Recently bought 3 new jobs: 2 7-1 w/Windows XP Pro w/Windows... It is: my old HP Laserjet 2100tn will not work with these computers due to them being not a port at the back of the computer.

Converters for the cables to grow what they do? Or is the basically useless printer at this point?

You can buy and install parallel port adapter cards and the printer works. I can't specify what are the cards as you have not told him what the specs are on your workstations. There are also usb-cable converters available parallel port.

  • Cable printer LaserJet 1100 and new computer

My company bought a new computer for me that has any LPT port.  For my LaserJet 1100 printer cable is a cable LPT. I've seen some off-brand cards online but prefer to have a HP cable that will work with my printer and the USB connector on the computer.  If so, where can I find one?

The cables in the posts tagged here are reported by users to work in Windows 7.

  • Driver problem HP LaserJet 1100.

I have the HP LaserJet 1100 printer that connects through the LPT1 port. When I was with Windows XP, Wndows XP Istalls his pilot himself and who is working properly, but now I have installed windows 7 n it does not install its driver. When I right click its icon in the folder devices & Printers and click on solving problems, windows are going online to search for the driver but cannot not update driver and message that "LaserJet 1100 has no driver. Now what shoul I do.

You must be connected to the internet to install the driver to print from Windows Update.  Run add printer in devices and printers, the print model page click the Windows Update button. • Re: Tecra M11 - 15W - Parallel Port LPT1, not found in Device Manager

    Hello

I have Tecra M11 with PA3680E-1PRP Docking Station. BIOS Version 2.9.

Problem is, I want to use the Parallel Port LPT 1, but in anchorage additive dosent device manager there.

    Thanks much for the tips

    Hey Buddy,

What device is connected to the LPT1 port? Usually if you connect a device to LPT port and you turn on you will be asked for drivers. AFAIK the LPT device drivers must be installed before connect you.

Several years ago I also used LPT connection for my printer but one day it didn't work. The problem was only a defective cable. I replaced it with a new one, and then the connection to the printer has been recognized again correctly! :)

  • parallel port does not have the protection key

I just bought a terca M2. When I try to install a software that uses a hardware key (small connector in the parallel port) I get the message that he found no protection key. I have installed this software on other laptops (also with xp pro) and they are all worked well.
I also tried two parallel port settings, but it still does not work.

Please help me solve this problem, otherwise, this laptop will be useless to me.

    Hi robert,.

have you checked that the chip set driver in Device Manager? As far as I know the parallel port is controlled by the entire ship!

Have you checked if the parallel port in your M2 works without any problem (for example, a parallel printer) to exclude a defect of material! If there is a material defects you might bring the laptop to a Toshiba service for a short health check partner!

  • HP Pavilion p7-1026 b: parallel port

I recently bought this computer used for a CNC machine by computer I am building. I need to install a parallel port so that it works correctly.

I bought this port parallel http://www.pmdx.com/2PARPCI , and it does not seem to adapt to any location. He really did give me 2 ports.  Can you advise me on which one to buy. Or an adapter to make this one work. Looking at the pins on the motherboard of the PC it seems that the slot is back on the mother. Or the notch is on the wrong end.

Thank you for your valuable time.

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I have never installed one myself.  All my HP computer business came with parallel port cards.

I take one in the list I posted and get the best market with the best / most of the critics.

Wireless... I do not use the internal wireless cards.  Had too many problems with them.

I use this external dual-band USB wireless network adapter on my HP 3 business desktop PC.  Works fine on W7 - W10.

I used the W7 drivers that come with the disc for the W10.

I reinstalled DVD Tosh tools and it is now working again, but I am unable to get the parallel port works again. I have it active in the Bios (worm 180.) and also in the control panel. Is there a tool to test the Lpt1 port or someone else has found a solution to this problem?

  • HASP dongle (parallel port) on the A100-906 Satellite connection

I need to work with Solid Works software. It is protected with HASP dongle which should be connected to the parallel port (printer port). But there is no such port on my Satellite.

    What can I do?

Several ideas of spring in mind:
-try to get your software vendor to replace your dongle with a USB version (possibly you will get a free)
-get a parallel converter cable / usb (not guaranteed)
-get a parallel PCMCIA card (a bit expensive...)
