  • Management of user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8

    Hello

I'll post a thread on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

A user account allows you to connect to Windows 8. By default, your computer already has a user account that you have been
needed to create when you configure Windows 8. If you want to share your computer, you can create a separate for each Member of your household or office user account. You can also choose to associate any user account with a Microsoft account. Signature with a Microsoft account will bring all your SkyDrive files, contacts and more in the start screen. You can even connect to another computer that has Windows 8 and all your important files will be there.

Here is a video on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

Also, here is a document showing you how to manager Our user on Windows 8.

If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

You have already set up a parental control using the Windows parental control?

There is no parental control for Outlook.com. However, the parental control has a similar feature called Management of Contacts. Unfortunately, this feature is no longer available.

  • On Vista Home Edition, Parental control management is unable to make any changes

Management of parental controls in Vista to work well.  I have 2 installation before accounts with web filtering and time limits.  Recently, it stopped working.  I can't set a new STANDARD user account to turn on Parental controls.  It makes Flash the admin for a fraction of a second screen, then a Pop box appears "unable to make changes. If the problem persists, please contact an administrator "."  I AM an administrator.  I also activated the hidden administrator account, use it and always save the message.  I looked at the Regedit settings and everything looks ok.

The first 2 accounts that configure before I can still change some characteristics, even if the pop box will appear with the same error message.  The changes take effect.  I only seem to change for web filtering and time restrictions only now.  Restriction of program does not work.

    Halima,

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, a number of new programs over time. I don't know when the issue of PC started then has no way for me to go back unless I have remove all the programs that I installed, which is a lot.

Yes, I tried PC without my AntiVirus running. Then I tried to stop every non-essential service, 1 by 1, until only the essential services remained running.  None of these permits.

I tried to run mode without failure. Integrated also in Safe Mode with the administrator account. The two did not work.

I tried to create 2 new users, 1 admin, 1 standard. Add the PC later to the standard.  Did not work.

All of these suggestions I've tried. I search the Web and found that this is a very common problem with no sound resolution. I was able to get mine to work again. It won't work that if there is already a standard account EXISTING with control Parental already setup on it (before the bug has started to happen).  These are the steps I did to solve:

-Use Regedit, look for new & existing userid & note the KeyIDs
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList]
-KeyID for existing user is [S-1-5-21-692013207-3584402868-2609430525-1003]
-Now go to the registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Parental Controls\Users]
-On existing KeyID, right-click > export > select the location for the file such as c:\temp\Existing.reg .reg
-Edit c:\temp\Existing.reg & change the KeyID to that for the new user you add to Parental control.
In my case, I did a 'replace' to:
    S-1-5-21-692013207-3584402868-2609430525-1003--< the="" existing="" uid="">
and "replace all" with the KeyID of the new user
    S-1-5-21-692013207-3584402868-2609430525-1009--< the="" new="" uid="">
-Run the command to import the registry file [regedit c:\temp\Existing.reg]
-Click OK at the prompt to import the new registry key

I could now GET IN to Parental control to fine tune the new user.  When I change, I always get the pop box saying "unable blah blah", but when I return to the user, the changes are effective.

    first of all Hi there.

I have windows 7 and I put a parental account for my kids but the big mistake I did there is no administrator account on my laptop.

I decided to use Windows Live Family Safety 2011 given documents that there the management of contacts for the e-mail accounts in the child.

I watched videos on the web and read documents on how to put in place, but when I log on the Family Safety website I introduced to all categories of web filtering, lists of filtering web, followed by activity, deadlines, restrictions of game, etc but no contact management.

There, anyone know if it is still available under parental controls, and if so, how do activate you it?

    Hi RLD_WI,

Family safety has made recent changes to its functions and functionlity. The latest version of the parental control now uses the standard user accounts (logon Windows) as a child in the safety of the family. To learn more about the changes in the management of Contact, please see the link below:

Where is the function of the safety Contact family management?

If you need to know about adding a user to the Windows login with standard privileges, please see this link.

If you have already created a standard user and you want to manage under parental control, then follow these steps:

    1. run the parental control on a Windows account with administrator privileges. If this is your first time running the parental control, you need to sign in using your Microsoft Account.

    2. after login, select the standard Windows account that you want to monitor as a child by checking the box to the right of the name of the account, and then click Next after.

3 on the right, you will see members parental control with a list of drop down option. Click the menu drop-down, and then select Add standard account name.

    4. click on record. Wait until the installation is done.

    5. Once done, you should see the name of the account under Windows monitored accounts.

    4. you will see on the Middle "[child account name] can be used:" and you will see under Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail with checkbox on their left.
    5. you will need to uncheck 2 boxes blocking the service Hotmail and Messenger, and then click Save to save the changes.
6 refresh family safety filter settings by logging into the customer of parental controls installed on your computer, and then clicking on the website get the latest settings from the Web site icon (located on the upper right corner of the parental control client.

[quote = user Craig Ellen] I also do not seem to have any account 'child' when we look into Parental control on my Live account. [/ quote]

You can see a child account on your Windows Live account page if the child is under 13 years of age and is registered under the COPPA - (Children Online Privacy Protection Act). COPPA has a $0.50 charge on subscription and is only a one-time charge.

  • Parental control for iphone zone

I have parental controls on my iphones of teenagers. I can also set the AT & T data time limits. Adolescents simply change the time zone of the iphone so they can walk using data when they aren't supposed to.

How can I prevent adolescents to change the time zone on their phones?

    Soccer Mom

You can not. The time zone on the phone setting should not have anything to do with AT & T cellular data limits. Those based on time on the cell towers. Contact AT & T

Or just take the phone away from them if they can't be trusted to follow the rules.

  • Place the Parental control over the Admin account

I use a Macbook Pro with El Capitan 11.1 2012

Today, I put Parental controls on my admin account, which resulted in the managed account. I can now use my normal administrator username / combo of password to remove it. I tried everything I found on the Internet, including into single user mode and create a new account to change to leave, but the code didn't work in my case.

I was wondering if there is any easy solution or new thoughts there for this OS...

Also why it not easier? Or at least a warning? Looks like Apple could have come up with something after that it was produced for the years.

Please take these steps to restore the privileges on your account. This somewhat tedious procedure is only necessary if you have verified that no work administrator account exists on the system.

If you do not already have a current backup of all your data, you must back up before taking any of the steps below. Ask if you need advice. You won't need the backup unless something goes wrong, which is always possible.

    Step 1

Start in recovery mode. The OS X Utilities appears.

    Step 2

This step only if you use FileVault 2. Start utility disk, then select the icon for the volume FileVault startup ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Click the Open button in the toolbar and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then quit disk utility must be returned to the main screen.

    Step 3

    Select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

in the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:

    resetp

Press the tab key. The partial order you entered will automatically end this:

    resetpassword

Press return. Opens a window to reset the password. Select your boot if not already done volume. Pull down the menu option

    Select the user account

    and select

    Administrator (root)

Follow the prompts to set a password. It is safer to choose a password that includes only the characters a - z, A - Z and 0-9. I suggest that you write the password. If you don't write it down and forget about it, you will start again at step 1.

    Select

     ▹ Reboot...

    in the menu bar.

    Step 4

This step, as step 2, applies only if you use FileVault. Sign up as usual, then select

     ▹ Disconnect...

from the menu bar or press shift-command-Q key combination. Do not restart. You go back to the login screen.

    Step 5

On the login screen, click on the other... Enter 'root' (without the quotes) in the name field and the password set in step 3 in the password field. You should now be logged in as root. It is a potentially dangerous situation. Do nothing by being logged in as root except as indicated below. You'll be fine as long as you don't dismiss the plan.

Open the preferences users and groups window. Select your usual administrator account from the list of users and check the box marked

Allow the user to administer this computer

You will be prompted to restart. Do this and log in as yourself, not as root. Your administrator status should now be restored.

    Step 6 (optional, but recommended)

Follow the instructions in this article to support under the title "disable the root user. You must authenticate in directory utility as a 'root' with the password set in step 3. As another administrator authentication will not work.
