Parental control on the Admin account problems

A few months ago, I created a new account on my computer for work only.  I set the parental controls on the new account and only the work account.  I got by without my computer for work then off the parental control.  Now, I'm unable to download games without him asking for a password.  I don't know what password I had used since I don't end up need it and none I've tried have worked.  So, how can I, as an administrator, disable this feature?  I have consulted the parental control and done everything I have seen/read that was recommended, but it won't allow me to change the settings on my own admin account without establishing a second admin account.  So, how can I remove this feature from the admin, only the admin?  It does not accept any next to the admin account, and even then it won't take my password.

I work at it for a few weeks now and tried everything I can think of.  Today I spent most of the day trying to get this thing to work.

More details on what is happening-
-I'm going to download a game on the net while connected to my admin account
-Everything works until the final stage when he usually asks for a general permission to my antivirus
-A pop up appears which reads: you do not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run.  You can run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as long as the current user.
-Click on the current user and it closes, download fault.
-Enter a password for the administrator and it says I have a user name or password invalid.
-Enter my username and password and it closes, download fault.

Can someone please help with this?

Hello KS. GAL.86,

Is the problem with the account of the work that you had created that has activated the Parental control? You can only configure Parental controls on a standard account and not an administrator account.

If so, then create a new account that has not activated the parental control.

Is the issue that you are experiencing that you can not download programs as an administrator?
What is the exact error you get when you download a program?

It cannot have anything to do with Parental control.

Please answer back with more details and information.

Thank you

  • Place the Parental control over the Admin account

I use a Macbook Pro with El Capitan 11.1 2012

Today, I put Parental controls on my admin account, which resulted in the managed account. I can now use my normal administrator username / combo of password to remove it. I tried everything I found on the Internet, including into single user mode and create a new account to change to leave, but the code didn't work in my case.

I was wondering if there is any easy solution or new thoughts there for this OS...

Also why it not easier? Or at least a warning? Looks like Apple could have come up with something after that it was produced for the years.

Please take these steps to restore the privileges on your account. This somewhat tedious procedure is only necessary if you have verified that no work administrator account exists on the system.

If you do not already have a current backup of all your data, you must back up before taking any of the steps below. Ask if you need advice. You won't need the backup unless something goes wrong, which is always possible.

    Step 1

Start in recovery mode. The OS X Utilities appears.

    Step 2

This step only if you use FileVault 2. Start utility disk, then select the icon for the volume FileVault startup ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Click the Open button in the toolbar and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then quit disk utility must be returned to the main screen.

    Step 3

    Select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

in the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:

    resetp

Press the tab key. The partial order you entered will automatically end this:

    resetpassword

Press return. Opens a window to reset the password. Select your boot if not already done volume. Pull down the menu option

    Select the user account

    and select

    Administrator (root)

Follow the prompts to set a password. It is safer to choose a password that includes only the characters a - z, A - Z and 0-9. I suggest that you write the password. If you don't write it down and forget about it, you will start again at step 1.

    Select

     ▹ Reboot...

    in the menu bar.

    Step 4

This step, as step 2, applies only if you use FileVault. Sign up as usual, then select

     ▹ Disconnect...

from the menu bar or press shift-command-Q key combination. Do not restart. You go back to the login screen.

    Step 5

On the login screen, click on the other... Enter 'root' (without the quotes) in the name field and the password set in step 3 in the password field. You should now be logged in as root. It is a potentially dangerous situation. Do nothing by being logged in as root except as indicated below. You'll be fine as long as you don't dismiss the plan.

Open the preferences users and groups window. Select your usual administrator account from the list of users and check the box marked

Allow the user to administer this computer

You will be prompted to restart. Do this and log in as yourself, not as root. Your administrator status should now be restored.

    Step 6 (optional, but recommended)

Follow the instructions in this article to support under the title "disable the root user. You must authenticate in directory utility as a 'root' with the password set in step 3. As another administrator authentication will not work.

  • Problems with the parental control on the administrator account.

Never use us the 'administrator' account as I have not configured any other account (it was unnecessary since there are no children in the House).  Whenever I try to download a game, I have problems.  It will finish the download, but as soon as I try to start the game, it gives me an error message saying 'parental controls have prevented this application to run.  I don't know why it gives this error and won't let me in the game, since I'm on the administrator account and it wont let me make changes to parental controls for the administrator account.  Anyone know what is the problem and how can I solve this problem?  Thank you!!!

Try to create another administrator account, and then connect to that account and try to change or disable the parental control for the administrator account.  I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.

  • Help for the parental control on Vista administrator account

Computer of my son is running Vista and I set parental controls in place through the administrator account, there a nonadministrator account.

I changed the password after that we had a few problems with the controls, and now I want to change the settings again. However, the old password allows for parental control (IE, he allows his account access websites and bypass control, etc.), but when I try to access the administrator account, it says the old password does not work. When I enter the password, account says I don't have the login procedure and kicks back me to the main screen of Vista (where I take which account to enter).

So, I'm stuck administering the account due to a conflict in the parental control passwords. If I try to reset the password, the computer ask me a USB stick with the old password on it information. It is a step that I did not.

Any way to disable the administrator account? Or somehow remove/reset the parental control account access restrictions that I am experiencing?

"when I enter the parental control in the non-administrative account, the system simply ignores the password that I entered"

  • cannot access the files of another user with the admin account

I'm on a computer with Windows Vista 64-bit home problems.
I normally have the computer configured to connect automatically to a non privileged user and rarely use the admin account.
Recently, I downloaded an update (Finally, more like a relocation to the latest version) and realized that I need the admin account to install properly for all users that UAC would make things a royal PITA with a zillion prompts.

I quickly disconnected and logged in as admin. Then, I realized that the installation file has been stored in the "downloads" folder in my regular account.
Worse still, I could not access this folder, or I couldn't tab of future security. All I could do was to 'change the property' to my admin account, but I really didn't block me on these issues. Even from Explorer using "run as administrator" gave me problems, although the DIR command in cmd.com would be the list of people.

I used the "change user" function to log my account regular and checked the Security tab and saw that the "Administrators" Group had already read and checked 'total control '. Why can't access the admin account? As an admin with XP, I had free access to everything I wanted to leave that I wanted.

What happens if I was a parent and wanted to check to make sure that my child was not software piracy or download illegal music that would get stuck with the fines because I'm his guardian? How would I go about checking his records?

What happens if I was an employer at a small office using working groups and wanted to ensure that the employee was not downloading pornography?

How can I use the powers of the administrator to access other files (regular) user?
Why do I still need to ask this question? It was automatic under NT, 2000, XP and the various servers at least as high as 2003.

I found the problem, it was ANOTHER problem with Norton Security Suite for Comcast.
I uninstalled and did not only to release 100 GIGABYTES of space, my boot time has been cut to a quarter of the former time, and this problem has disappeared.

  • XP admin account is hidden and in safe mode F8 annoys me but I cannot view the admin account.

The admin account is hidden and it seems as my user account, but what built allowed me to install the drivers it isn't now.  Impossible to install a wireless card to get on the web.
I followed the previous advice and used the SafeMode (F8) and got to the login screen, but my account does not allow me to view the account Admin don't want to rebuild again if I can avoid it. Any advice would be very welcome.
Edit the registry key doesn't help either not that my account has no rights to add a key
    Thank you

According to Microsoft: "This isn't a problem... it's a feature"...

The normal behavior for Windows XP is to hide the built-in Administrator account once another user account is created.  Not rebuild your machine again because it happen.  One way around this problem is to create another administrator-capable user as an unprivileged user.  Then, when the account is not built-in Administrator, you will have a visible connection as admin user.

As it is now, your solution is simple.  On the normal startup login screen, hit twice by the Ctrl-Alt-Delete key combination.  This will bring up a login screen standard where you can enter the user name and password (if any) of the built-in Administrator and you connect to your computer to a normal startup mode and make the changes you want.  (I recommend that you create a 2nd Admin user with the control panel of users)

  • Vista's Parental control prevents the launch of iTunes Store - allowing sites Web does NOT resolve.

My daughter is unable to launch the iTunes store in iTunes when parental control is on.  If I turn off parental control it works.  See this post- http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/64a593eb-8ae4-4605-86f6-8a941244f2d1/ - the answer it does NOT solve the problem, and you can see at least 3 others have the same problem as I am.

    To reproduce:
    -Download and install iTunes.
-Create a user of Vista with Parental controls active.
-Log in as user, and launch iTunes.  This method works.
-Try to access the iTunes Store.  It hangs and never ends.
-Add web sites to the list of 'Green' in the Parental control as suggested in the post mentioned above.  This has no effect.
-Select "allow all websites and content.  There is still no effect.
-Disable Parental controls for the user.  link iTunes Store arrives without problem.

I find that my daughter is unable to access the iTunes store unless I have turn off the parental control.  I would use Parental controls.  Help, please.  Thank you.

Rock you.  Yes, it seems that this problem could be solved by adding iTunes in the HTTPExemptions list.  In particular, adding a String key under:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Parental Controls\HTTPExemptions

The key name and the value must be the path to the executable to iTunes (c:\program files\iTunes\iTunes.exe on my machine).

I guess the drawback here is that now that my kids could, theoretically, use iTunes to access any URL on the internet, but to my knowledge, there is nowhere in iTunes where they could just type a URL and go.  In addition, there are Parental control built into iTunes as well.

    Thank you!

  • Need permission admin using the admin account

I was doing annoyed recently how my computer asked "permission to the administrator. I have an Admin account and a guest account, but I use only the Admin account. However, whenever I do anything it requires permission. This includes the removal of files, save files, moving files, rename files, etc. Even with the files and programs. I can't find the settings I lack, and it becomes really upset me.

I should add that I'm still able to do things, it's just that it ask for permission each time. Any help would be appreciated.

The feature you are referring is called User Account Control, or UAC for short. It is supposed to make your computer more secure, however, if you despise as many other people do, fortunately for you, there is a simple way to get rid of him.

    1. open start > Control Panel

    2. in the search box at top right, type in uacand select change user account control settings

    3. to turn off UAC, move the slider to never notify position. Save your settings and to provide your final confirmation. You will need to restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

    That's all

  • No access to the Admin account

I have recently reinstalled Windows and I screw up the user names. This is what is stated in the users folder. All users, default user, Default (hidden), longsorr (grayed out), Public (grayed out), UpdatusUser. It should be default user, D..., my guests. When I was asked for the username during installation I gave longsorrow, thinking he was talking about the computer, time of elderly people. I tried to fix this and now got D... longsorrow. I also I created my guests and that is not the case on the list. Finally, I normally mode without fail get computers Admin user account and my account, what has not happened. Only the accounts show where d... and my guests. (Oddly, my guests is on the front line and not my user account.)

Is there a way to fix this mess? I read Fix-a-corrupted - user profile and a guide for the recovery of lost password Windows 7 Home Premium user account, impossible to connect, connection problem. The problem is that I don't have access to the Admin account. Please do not suggest to reinstall Windows for the 4th time. :)

Subsequently, you can follow these steps:

    a. click on command prompt in WinRE.

    b. type the following command at the command prompt and press ENTER.

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

This will enable the built-in Administrator account.
