Parental control - restriction of site Web

I tried to introduce parental controls for my 11 year old granddaughter. Everything seems OK until I propose restricted Web sites. I'm not trying to be too restrictive, so I named about 10 websites that can not be visited. I do not check the box to "Only allow websites which are on the allow list" so I thought that she would be able to visit anything else. I had chosen a 'Medium' level for automatic locking function. When the logs on she is totally restricted - it can even go to a search engine. I modified it, pointing to a couple of search engines in the area allow. It works because it allows access to these sites, but every search rises without access. If I go back and change the settings to "allow all websites and content", she virtually free rein, including access to social networking sites that she is too young to go voluntarily. It seems to me that the 'sites to allow only which are on the allow list' are enabled even though I unchecked it.
Any suggestions? (I'm not too hot on computers so please keep suggestions 'Stupid Guide' level.)

  • Parental control - limit to some Web sites?

How to configure parental controls so that the user account has access to ONLY certain Web sites?

Also, how one prevent images to display? For example, if you type the word "tobacco" in the browser window and click on "images" then many images of tobacco appear.

You can't block images.  If someone types the word "tobacco" in Google, you cannot prevent Google from showing images of tobacco, because it does not part of the safe search filter that blocks explicit (read: adults) images and links.  Just like you can't keep Google return images of snakes, cakes birthday or Volkswagen beetles.  Activate the safe search filter must be done on the Google site itself, in any case.  Who should keep the sprogs to searching for photos of breasts and other terminology of this naughty (for them), but that's all.

To the extent of allowing access to only certain Web sites, do so you in system--> Parental control preferences.  Click on the padlock in the lower corner on the left and enter your administrator password.  On the left side of the pane, select the account that you want to apply Parental controls for.  In the top of the pane, you should see a list of tabs.  One of them is "Web".  Click on it.  There are three levels of browser restriction.  If you want to customize the list of websites, this account users are able to access, click on the Customize button.

A dialog box will be displayed.

In the upper pane, type Web sites you want to only be accessible and in the lower pane, enter the Web site you never want to be accessible.  When you are finished, press OK.  If you need more for the other tabs at the top of the pane, click the padlock in the lower left corner again to lock in your preferences.

Use a type of compressed as PNG or JPG image to save the screenshot.

Do a check with some malware malware, analysis of programs on the Windows computer.

You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

  • Vista's Parental control prevents the launch of iTunes Store - allowing sites Web does NOT resolve.

My daughter is unable to launch the iTunes store in iTunes when parental control is on.  If I turn off parental control it works.  See this post- http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/64a593eb-8ae4-4605-86f6-8a941244f2d1/ - the answer it does NOT solve the problem, and you can see at least 3 others have the same problem as I am.

    To reproduce:
    -Download and install iTunes.
-Create a user of Vista with Parental controls active.
-Log in as user, and launch iTunes.  This method works.
-Try to access the iTunes Store.  It hangs and never ends.
-Add web sites to the list of 'Green' in the Parental control as suggested in the post mentioned above.  This has no effect.
-Select "allow all websites and content.  There is still no effect.
-Disable Parental controls for the user.  link iTunes Store arrives without problem.

I find that my daughter is unable to access the iTunes store unless I have turn off the parental control.  I would use Parental controls.  Help, please.  Thank you.

Rock you.  Yes, it seems that this problem could be solved by adding iTunes in the HTTPExemptions list.  In particular, adding a String key under:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Parental Controls\HTTPExemptions

The key name and the value must be the path to the executable to iTunes (c:\program files\iTunes\iTunes.exe on my machine).

I guess the drawback here is that now that my kids could, theoretically, use iTunes to access any URL on the internet, but to my knowledge, there is nowhere in iTunes where they could just type a URL and go.  In addition, there are Parental control built into iTunes as well.

    Thank you!

  • NO HTTPS sites permitted with Parental controls

sites Web HTTPS NOT permitted with Parental controls - how one does this? Thank you.

    Hi MoellDa,

    I hope you do well.

The of Windows Parental control allows a parent configure, on a per user basis, various restrictions on what the user can do on the computer. These range from Web sites block settings to control what are the games they play. Access to these types of controls allows a parent to feel uncomfortable with their children using a computer and at the same time gives them the flexibility to customize these settings for their specific needs.

Sites Web https will be blocked or disabled if Parental control is activated.

In order to customize Vista's Parental control, you need to log on to your computer by using an account that is administrator. Once you login, please see the links for steps and details below:

  • Parental control blocks WMA format audio playback of the site on the list of allowed sites

I use Windows Vista Home Edition basic pm a Compaq desktop computer. I've set up parental controls for the user account of my son. Under parental controls, I've marked ', apply the current settings,' ' we vires infromation on the use of the activity, ' no time limit are marked, games is marked not for theirs does not, all programs are allowed - none is marked to the block, and web restrictions are marked Allow list only. When he goes to his school site at home (which is on the list of allowed sites) and clicks on an audio conference that is WMA format it said of a box with Windows Media Player, along the top border and the message: Windows Media Player cannot perform the requested operation because the Parental control filter Web is turned on. To enable this action, ask your administrator to disable the web filter for your user account. Is it possible to get this set up so I don't have to temporarily turn off the parental control. Which kind of defeated the purpose controls, if I turn them off for this presentation, he will have free access to the Internet until I turn it back on. This means that I need to sit on it during the time that parental control is switched off! Not funny! I love being able to allow only the sites that I approved, if I could just allow him to hear the audio to WMA format that would be great. Any ideas?

In the activity report that is generated when the family filter is on, I see attempts to access a particular Web site as 450 a week, even if it has been blocked. • Cannot limit the use of Minecraft in App Restrictions on parental controls

As most parents know, Minecraft is an app that is very popular with children. Unfortunately, parental control does not appear to offer a way to limit its use subject to restrictions of App.

The app of Minecraft is an executable file that we download mojang, from the developer's site. It runs on Java. So safe family, its use is in the activity tracking > PC activity > Apps and games such as "Java (TM) Platform SE binary."

However, when you look under App restrictions in parental controls, there is no "Java (TM) Platform SE binary."  And, of course, there is nothing for the minecraft.exe file either. He has a record of Java, but it contains only 'Configure Java.'

There is no obvious way to add apps to the list of restrictions of App. The apps are either there already, listed as "apps already installed on these devices that [the child] may use", or else they are not.  If a person consumes the child account on a specific device, the only option presented is to change parental control online settings.

(There is a post related here , but it deals with Windows 7 / 'parental control' and in the end, offers no help, apparently even for Windows 7)

This seems to be a major oversight and negligent by the developers of parental control. I am amazed that they are ignorant of the use by children of Minecraft, or that they are simply not competent enough to create a way to limit the use of the application.

If someone knows a way of parental control allows to limit of Minecraft, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll just assume that developers of parental controls are the boneheads is unresponsive.

    Hello

Please refer to the image below and click on the option last restriction Desktop App. It will give you a list of installed applications. Select the game of Minecraft in the list and check.

  • "parental controls does not allow this game begins" without any restrictions applied

    Hello helicopter-Guy,.

Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.

I would like to ask you a few questions in order to get a better understanding of this issue.

    ·         What is the operating system installed on your computer?

    ·         Did you the latest changes on the computer?

    ·         Logged in as the administrator of the computer?

    ·         What game you try play?

You get this error usually when parental control is set by the administrator for your user account.

I suggest that you try to run the game as administrator and check, if you are able to play the game.

Right-click on the game, click Run as administrator.

If the problem persists, then I suggest that you install the game in Vista compatibility mode and check if you are able to play the game.

See the link to run programs in compatibility mode: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

  • Question EA6500 Parental controls or restrictions on access

I leaned on this router, I woujld would like to know if I can activate the Parental control or access restrictions to block an address IP or MAC; 03:00 - 06:00?

    Instead of midnight to 06:00.

My E4200 works great, just would like to know if the EA6500 can do?

    Thank you

    Chris

Yes, you can block a device on the network to access internet from 03:00 to 06:00.

Excerpt from the screen I just took of my EA6500:

As for blocking by IP address or MAC address directly, no, you can't, you need to select it in the list of devices, but from what I've seen, you must do so on the E4200 so it's nothing else.

There are expierencing problems people with their device on the EA6500 lists, but I rarely had none since fimeware some updates there and generally to refresh the page or by clicking the Refresh button on the page, correct those when they happen to occur. (In my case).

And in response the the second post, although it is only apart wireless and unrelated to parental control, the EA6500 has MAC filtering:
