Part of of the manufacturer (e.g. Gateway) or Windows 7 recovery discs?

I ask because I apparently contracted a virus which obtained by Avast Internet Security and cannot be cleaned automatically. I just wanted to use the recovery discs to go back to its factory condition, but Avast says that solve registry problems. That sounds wrong to me. Why the recovery discs would not be included the original registry?

If the disk recovery process is part of Windows, then I get this question answered here. If this is not so I have to just give it a try because gateways support after warranty is almost zero. And if that fails, then I have to pay a pretty nice piece of cash for someone to fix, because we, consumers don't even have Windows OS dang drive more. Yet once, which sounds not just for me.

Hello

When you use the manufacturer's recovery disks or when you reinstall from the recovery of the manufacturer Partition, the hard drive is wiped clean of everything and the operating system is reinstalled back to factory (new condition, how you bought).

The register is part of the operating system, which is replaced as part of the re - install the operating system.

If you have the possibility to do a destructive or non-destructive restore, choose destructive.

Make sure you save all your data first that this will also be lost when the hard drive is wiped at the destroyer resumed.

See you soon.

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6-1305sa Notebook and not able to restore Windows. If the HARD drive is faulty, this can cause the restoration should not go well. You can try to run a test of material. Please note remove any and all USB devices and remove the memory card in the slot of the card reader. Disconnect all non-essential devices. What is the original HARD drive? Have you replaced all other parts? Have you tried to do a clean install of Windows 7. Try running sfc/scannow would scan your system to find errors on the command line. You can get to the command prompt by clicking F11 at startup. You can see this Microsoft document on the system recovery options.

    Hope this will help.

Also ask them if it is possible to make the recovery disk/s of the recovery Partition in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, about what you are up and running again.

They will tell you how to do this.

I have a laptop Acer 4720 with valid product key of Vista Home Premium OEMact and COA label, my problem is the HD is broken and I need to install the new HD and then reinstall windows, but I have not all disks (was on the recovery partition which is good), so what are my options? Can I use any family Vista Edition installation disc Premium and then activate my license key?

    Hi again,

You use the product key on your computer case with the Installation DVD Microsoft process.

As I advised alreasdy, recovery from other manufacturers discs are of no use for this

The only thing is that you may need to make a phone Activation, do it this way and not use auto invite, but hold the line for a person to physically respond to your call.

I would advise not to download an ISO of Vista on the Internet, you will find that they are pirated and malicious programs containing versions changed.

The DVDs are not available from Microsoft.

When I informed 'borrow' that's what I meant. a friend, acquantance workplace, etc.

Or if you know someone with the same model of Acer and Vista operating system, you might try their recovery disks.

After having used StopZilla to remove malware everyhthing seems to work ok except for repopulating the START/PROGRAMS.  Looking for help to get all my programs listed under programs.

    Hello

    ·         What operating system is installed on your system?

If you are using Windows XP and programs are not listed when you click Start, and then you can perform the scan SFC to solve the problem.

SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary.

Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows. In view of this, plus the fact that the SFC /scannnow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should be usually one of your top not troubleshooting.

My apologies for the delay in the answer here.

What is the problem and how can I fix this so it doesn't happen or is this normal with Vista.

    Hi SouthernDixieCowgirl,

This would happen if the driver graphics card on the computer is damaged or needs to be updated.

You will need to update the drivers to display on the computer card by visiting the manufacturer of the card or the computer manufacturer's website and check if it works.

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

Also, make sure that you install drivers chipset update by contacting the manufacturer of the computer.

    I hope this helps!

  • Can Tecra M9 - I upgrade the RAM and get a Windows 7 recovery disk?

    Hello!

I want to know if it is possible to upgrade my Tecra M9 about RAM - memory? I think that I now have 2 GB.
I also need to know if Toshiba sells a recovery disk to my computer with Windows 7, or do I have to buy a Windows 7 disc and serch for drivers on my own if I want to have the new operating system?
My language on the portable computer setting is Swedish.

    Cordially Mikael

    Hello!

I also put t know how much RAM have been mounted, but I checked the Tecra M9 user manual and it can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM. This means that you need two modules with specification of SO-DIMM DDR2 200pin for upgrade. In the user manual, you can find some information about it.

On the issue of Windows 7, I think that Toshiba will not release a Windows 7 recovery disc because this model isn't Windows 7 supported:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/KBA9A02PX0000R01.htm

You can install Windows 7 from a Microsoft disc but you will have to collect the drivers on different websites or other, you use the Vista drivers.

What model of laptop you have exactly?
Have you tried to boot from another drive? Perhaps the recovery disk is scratched and t can be read more.
