Partition a new drive of 320GB for XP Media

This place is HUGE! I found "here" many hours in the tech library.

I want to partition the drive just 320 the first time, with all "opinions" out there, I need the correct answer, so here is the description: off the 320 is 40 GB the right amount for the XP - Pro Media Edition with all 300 updates + Office 2007, iTunes/Quicktime, Macromedia Fireworks FX and Dreamweaver, and a few others. The system is for multimedia (including PowerPoint, Publisher) as well as Word, Excel. I'll use some of them for internet & documentation and with the 40 GB I use free space is about 27 GB with the rest.

Maybe 60GB, a partition for the sys file page. and what is the surplus (EST. ~ 260 GB) use as a partition to keep all my work on. Only a convience do left amount in 2 parts, it's ok. I can use one for photos, Movie-presentations, one for music files, etc. Your Advisor is very well respected in this case. Thank you.

I want to install everything in the correct partition and use the balance of the car for all files, storage. No App [cations or programs.]   I ask about the size of the Partition that there is much to say about the overall size. That I need help, if the size of 260 GB is ok for this, or should it be split into 2 partitions? IE: maintenance/convience thing.

I found also that it is recommended to make a 8 ~ 10GB partition for the pagefile, and again, it should be done, it is necessary, this effort will make a difference in performance.

I want to set up & install this system in the best possible and with less chance of THIS level of fixation. I just want to use it. I am 54 and put up correctly with this huge drive and use XP. I gladly and appriciate your help (even in the wrong forum) Pro Media Edition 2005. It's a good 'ole machine. It's all in a nut shell. Thanks in advance for the help. I intend to implement in the next 2 days. Since a "NEWBIE" Please do not hesitate to ask for clairification. Thank you people. Help!

  • I can not format or partition my new drive HARD internal

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011. The other day, I was unable to boot and got the flashing question mark folder. When I command + R, my old 500 GB of HARD drive was not appear. I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a Seagate 2 TB drive and installed it. I am now ready to install OS X on it. I am able to see the drive when I go into Internet recovery, but failure of attempts at partitioning and formatting. The error for the formatting is "wipe data on the volume to avoid future to probe accidental is not" and the error for partitioning is the same. I looked for answers and I tried all the solutions I could find, but I am unable to do the single user mode that I can't boot into it successfully.

Are there other options or ideas that guys maybe I can try?

I suggest that you consider getting an external adapter or place the new drive in an external enclosure. Install Mac OS X on this subject here.  When you are satisfied with the way it works, and THEN do the transplant.

This separates from the software install the registry numbers, reduced the problem by half and the two halves solvable.

  • Should I partition the new drive?

I installed a new hard drive of 320 and then install Windows XP without the disk partitioning. I think it was a mistake since I have a number of questions: i.e., no message of paging to the startup file and the computer is not shut down correctly, all turn off. I need to create a partition?

In addition, my computer only recognizes the former status of 80 GB from my old drive.

If you need to upgrade the BIOS then do.  Also, make sure that the rider of the disc is correctly defined (master/slave/Cable Select), if it is the only drive on the IDE controller, you can set it to master.

The Windows XP Setup program took care of partitioning, there is no need to use other tools of preparation of partitioning or disk when you install Windows XP, Setup will give you a list of available disks and you ask what disk and partition you want to install Windows, it will load if necessary partitioning.  If you select a new disk that has not been initialized or prepared you will be asked and asked if you want to create a partition, Windows cannot be installed on a disk at least a primary partition, the installation program will create the partition before it can go further, you could not install Windows on your new drive if she had no partitions the Setup program creates the partition that invited you to do when you have Windows installed on your new drive.

Is the new drive the only hard drive in the computer when you installed Windows XP?  The "No paging file" error is usually caused by incorrect drive letter assignments, glitches or mix ups installation can cause problems with possibility of drive letter.  When you install Windows, you must ensure that there is no external device connected to the computer other than the keyboard, mouse and monitor, make sure that there is no USB drives don't, sticks of flash, cameras or printers with readers card connected to the computer, disconnect everything except the keyboard, mouse and monitor.  Having poorly adjusted riders drive can also cause problems, for example have a drive as a slave when it is the only drive on the controller may cause problems or give unexpected results during the installation of Windows.

"" I saw a slim drive of ' Techguys CD-DVD "PC World - would that be ok?
I'll find someone else to adapt to it that I don't have any idea how out the CD.

Hope someone out there can give me some advice on why it happened suddenly and what new drive to substitute for the purchase.

    Thank you.

    > a cd got introduced in the drive and I can't, then you need to replace the CD player in my laptop.

You are not able to open the CD/DVD drive.
There is a little near the eject button.
You will need to put a small wire or another object in this set to eject the CD or DVD.
It is a last option if the eject button does not work.

PS: in the manual of the laptop you should be able to find information on compatible CD/DVD players.

    • If you are using an external drive connected to your Mac, use disk utility to make sure that your backup disk is formatted in HFS + extended (journaled) and is the partition type GUID Partition Table (GPT).
    • If you use a time Capsule, formatting the drive for Time Machine preferences automatically formats the drive as HFS + Extended (respect for case-sensitive, journaled) with a GUID Partition Table (GPT).

    Hello

40GBs is the minimum; who will be vey quickly useless.

Recovery partition would have been photographed by the manufacturer of the computer hard disk and you can't replicate that.

You can use all of the hard disk space available to install Vista on.

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I need to format the hard drive but don't have the windows vista disc to reinstall, but have had the key code that vista was preinstalled do I have to buy a new drive for vista

    Hello

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Windows 7 - partition windows on a new drive... travel startup gives nothing but the black screen and blinking cursor

I am replacing a hard drive and move a partition Windows 7 from one disk to another.  The original partition of Windows 7 starts and works perfectly, but when I clone to the new drive, I have a terrible problem getting the new boot drive.

On the original drive, the partition is the partition 3, on the new disk partition is partition 2.

Both drives have the same size of cylinder.

The new partition was created as a partition main with the same dimensions as the other and cloned in the whole content of the partition.  The files are all there in the new partition.

He is currently not starting correctly, it starts the partition, but then he's here - I don't see Windows Welcome screen or anything - just immediately inadmissible black screen with a blinking cursor.  All I can do is reboot.  By pressing F8 at startup does nothing.

Start of support for windows 7 and running repair features discovered the new partition as C: and CHKDSK C: points and gives a good report of the partition.

    BIOS settings have been lacking.

The following commands were executed the repair windows 7 installation media feature:

    Of http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749177 (v = ws.10) .aspx

    BOOTSECT/NT60 C:

    And http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/927392

    BOOTREC /FIXMBR

    BOOTREC /FIXBOOT

    C:
    BOOT CD
    BCD ATTRIB S H R
    REN C:\BOOT\BCD BCD. OLD
    BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD

The new partition was made active and is the only asset.

If I erase and freshly installed Windows 7 on the partition, it does not start successfully, but if I then replace the contents of the partition with a clone of the other partition of work, it does not work.

So that leaves me with a pretty good confidence that the problem has nothing to do with the charger starting and everything related to the content of the partition itself.

I can't find more useful information for the boot partition.

    Any ideas?

Moving Windows is not the best method.

It is better to 'image' or 'clone' Windows to the new drive, using software such as Acronis

True Imageor AOEMI Partition Wizard (free). I've used both (has a free version of Western Digital

Acronis to use if you have WD hard drives).

    .Acronis.com/en-au/Personal/PC-Backup

    .disk-partition.com/Free-Partition-Manager

(EDIT: I need to be careful.) Had redundant stuff here...;). )

Dual-boot can be difficult in the best of times, but two partitions on a HARD drive...

I don't think that you can select a particular partition in the BIOS to be your first boot option, only

from the HARD disk, so it would be a blow to the top.

See if there's useful information below-

  • Satellite T230D - new driver for webcam

I have problems with my built-in webcam. It does not seem to be developed.

Advanced application Toshiba Web Camera displays the options of normal auto focus or Macro, but all the options are greyed out meaning I can't select them. I think I may have not the right driver to allow these settings to be changed. Currently there is a driver 'USB 2.0 Camera' installed with a Microsoft driver dated 06/21/2006.

I tried the Australian websites and European Toshiba for a newer driver and fails. I also tried to reinstall the Toshiba Web Camera Application where pilots have been grouped with it, but that doesn't solve the problem or update the drivers.

Reference number of the machine is PST4LA-00R008. You can provide any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

According to the reference number of your model is an Australian model because I found on the Australian Toshiba page:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/

The most recent software Toshiba web camera application for Windows 7 64-bit is the 1.1.1.15 version and also for Windows 7 32 bit.

Before installing it I recommend to remove the old driver first (Control Panel > uninstall a program). Search for the webcam software and click on uninstall. Follow the instructions on the screen. Then, restart your computer. Download and install the freeware Ccleaner tool and do a registry clean. This can remove old registry keys and restart your computer. Then install the new software of the site Web of Toshiba webcam.
