Partition Recovery - what operating system?

I just bought a ThinkPad Edge E431 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit OS pre-installed, but a free upgrade option to Windows 8 Pro (Windows 8 a license with downgrade rights).  Provided Lenovo recovery Windows 8 Pro (upgrade) DVD discs but nobody knows (or how to find out?) what operating system is contained in the recovery Partition from the factory on the laptop?  I expect that it is Windows 7 but the caveats users defined recovery disc to be sure to do a recovery image before moving on to Windows 8, which should not be necessary if the recovery Partition is Windows 7.

Mtn-high hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We understood that your request is subject to OS pre-loaded on ThinkPad Edge E431.

If the system is delivered with Windows 7 pre-loaded OS, then the recovery partition will be Windows 7 OS only.

We recommend to create the current operating system reinstallation disk, and after you create the recovery disk, you can move the windows of Windows 7 to Windows 8 OS.

I hope this helps.

Best regards

Agnes Kumar

Pass Vista (requires a minimum of 2 GB of RAM) and install Windows 7 (just 1 GB of memory for the 32-bit version).  If you buy the "Full" version (not the upgrade version) from Windows 7, you can Dual Boot between XP and Windows 7 (not all XP software will be running in Windows 7 and dual-boot will allow you to continue to use any software that you place a high value on the). You must first check if your Windows XP-based computer supports Windows 7  Go the the computer manufacturing technical support web site and see if they list Windows 7 device drivers. No driver Windows 7 means that you can not (the most often install Windows 7, if this isn't the case find Vista drivers).

    Hello

This may depend on your condition. If the computer on which you want to install the new operating system is for typical home use, then you may want to buy Windows 7 rather than Windows Server 2008.

Also, please take a look at the underside of the articles that might help you to choose the operating system.

Is VoIP a kind of internet connection what operating system using VoIP?

VoIP means "Voice Over Internet Protocol". Have a read of this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_over_IP for a little more in detail.

Any OS with a proper application should be able to use it. Skype is a typical example, there are others.

  • Install R12 on PowerEdge R200. On what operating system?

    < p >
    Hello community,

We recently have a PowerEdge R200 Server single processor Intel Dual-Core < sup > & reg; < / sup > Xbox < sup > & reg; Negative > series E3100 @ 3 .00GHz, with 4 GB memory and 500 GB of hard drive. The system offers the possibility to choose the operating system to install.

    The available operating systems are:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Version 4, Update 5) x86_64.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Version 5 Update 2) x86_64.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 4 x86_64.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 x 86-64.

My question is: in your experience, what operating system is more suitable in order to install version 12 on this subject.

    Thanks in advance.

I was installing on a Linux 32-bit operating system when I created the doc. You can start with 12.0.4 for Linux x 86-64, but keep in mind that you want more memory on the server to take advantage of the possibilities of 64-bit memory allocation. Your CMS database will not be limited to 1.7 or 2.5 GB, and you won't have to waste his time with the base RAID card ETC.

Configuration of OS for great CMS

Big Linux LMS, large memory VLM - white paper
    http://MetaLink.Oracle.com/MetaLink/PLSQL/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=not&P_ID=260152.1

Memory is cheap. Add another 4 or 12 GB of RAM for this box if you want acceptable performance, unless you expect only to have a few simultaneous users.

  • HP Pavilion 23-g013w: recovery of operating system, replace hard drive and memory now what?

My hard drive stop working on my HP Pavilion 23-g013w all in one computer. I replaced it with a new 1 TB hard drive. I also installed new memory Crucial upgrade to 16 GB.   All new "hardware" is installed on the computer. When he came she said "Please install operating system on your pc" I ran to the verification of memory and the hard disk check and they both passed.

I had this all in one at Wal-Mart 2 years ago and it did not come with the recovery disk or they were lost.

Is there a way to connect with ethernet and download the software, I need?

Otherwise, what is my next best option... .or not?

    Thank you.

Thank you very much for the help.  I will continue to "hold" on the line...  Good day.

  • What operating system is now available with the new Macs?

About to buy a new iMac. Need very soon. As ordered by next week. Prefer to El Cap installed (would rather wait Sierra went through the selection process before entering a new operating system to work). Anyone knows which OS is available on the Apple Store now (since the Sierra was not yet released to the public)? And if El Cap is still available - when someone anticipate he will not be available? (I want to configure what I buy and places like MacMall, while large, are not as versatile).

Without doubt, El Capitan, as the Sierra is not released until September 20.

  • What operating system is used on the readynas RN10200?

I need to know what is the operating system of the system, and how I can access! I think it is probably Linux and am ready to install on a laptop so that I could access the readynas's Chitlins. I am totally not familiar with SSH and do not know how to use it. But what I've read, it would be a way to access. Someone let me know what are the procedures I need to follow to access the system.

BTRFS is the file system, not the operating system.

In regards to the operating system, ReadyNAS OS 6, it is based on Debian Wheezy. Yes, we use Linux.

You can use PuTTY (SSH/telnet client free) on Windows or Terminal on Mac/Linux SSH in to the ReadyNAS. SSH is a service that you can activate under system > settings > Services. As IX has mentioned you can do a lot of damage if you don't know what you're doing, then you must think carefully if you really want to use it.

There is an OS 6 VM available ReadyNAS, you can experiment on: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=70699
