partition 'Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk.

I created a partition of HARD drive in order to install a system in multiboot using XP and Vista, but I did mess up the BONES of the two. Now I want to do a clean install of Vista ONLY, but I don't know how to get rid of the partition! * Example: Computer management > disk management > right-click on the volume (M) > Delete Volume * but I get an error: "Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk" can someone help me to get my Vista to original?

P.S. I have the "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium32 - bit Operating System Disk" provided with my computer when I bought it new. Thank you! -Jeff

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

Delete the existing Partitions during the process.

  • cannot delete the activity led

    Hello

    I use an activity indicator while a thread is processing data

    before you begin the task, there is no visible activity indicator-

    I insert the Acticvity indicator in a Manager successfully

    and put a red background

    then after completing the task, I'll put the green background and want to emove the activity indicator

    but I always get an illegal state Exception

    any ideas?

    if (!running) {
            activity.getModel().cancel();
            if (statusManager.getField(0) == activity) {
                try {
                    statusManager.delete(activity);
                } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) {
                    //
                }

                statusManager.insert(activity, 0);
            }
            statusManager.setBackground(redBackground);
            activity.getModel().resume();
        }

    What part gives you the IllegalStateException? My first look at this leads me to think that it is probably a problem with trying to change the user interface of a thread without obtaining the lock of the event. In addition, it may be useful to know what are your objects.

  • Cannot delete the backup files to external HARD disk

    I tried to remove most of the backup sets on an external HARD drive, but always free poster of 465 GB file Explorer only 213 GB.  I chose the drive in "Disk Clean-up, but which showed no files to delete.  I had a virus on the disk scan to see what files have been on this subject, and so there are hundreds of thousands of them, starting by ' $RECYCLE. BIN... ".  Anyone know how to remove these?  Operating system is Windows Vista SP2.

    Hi John

    Some of the files that you see (as the trash) are system files and do not need to be deleted.

    Before taking other measures, what volume of personal files is on the external hard drive? Did you direct copies of music/photos etc.? -"Free 465 GB only 213 GB" is not quantify how many do you think should be free!

    Also - what the drive and were records of backup performed using embedded software of the player?

    The best solution here is perhaps simply reformat the drive (after making sure that you have an exact replica of all personal files on your pc that you can then copy to it) but give us a little more detail the first.

    Thank you - R

  • I get a message saying "Windows cannot open the file...". »

    I had a lot of problems with infections, so I was running many scanning programs.

    After getting my computer almost completely cleaned, I ran the Super Anti-Spyware program.  We find 3 infections, which I'd delete (I don't have no way of knowing that I removed).

    Since then, whenever I try to open a program, or even Windows Update, etc., I get a message saying:

    "Windows cannot open the file.  To open this file, Windows needs to know what kind of program has created.  Windows can go online to search automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs.

    When I go on the web, I get a lot of options, which are almost free scans that then charge for fixing.  I am also very scared that I can also get another infection from these sites.

    I hope someone can help me solve this problem.

    StanEp

    Yes, each method is a set of measures to try and then go ahead and try each one separate.

    2 method will reset the executable (.exe) extension that will allow you to open programs. It is not clear what exactly you are trying to open so that it can have no effect.

    Keep in mind that the damage caused by malware can be irreversible, in the case of relocations are necessary.

  • Cannot delete the file - Windows 7 cannot check location

    Hello all,.

    After the upgrade to Windows 7, I tried to delete the Windows.old folder. However, I encountered a problem; There are two files in this folder that Windows 7 can not remove. When I try to delete them, I get an error message stating that Windows cannot locate the two files and it asks me to check their location. Is there a way to get around this?

    Thank you

    Garrick

    When the above does not work, try this:

    1. click on windows orb
    2. type cmd in the search box
    3. right click on cmd in the results menu and click on run as administrator
    4. control windows opens, must be in the directory c:\windows\system32
    5. go into c:\ do this type cd... until you reach c:\
    6 goto directory where the file to be deleted. example c:\windows.old\users
    7 type rd /s (directory name)
    8 get invites to delete y/n type y and press on enter

    After successful removal, you can check the windows Explorer and see that the file is missing.

    Example, I have a directory on my c drive named windows.old, under windows.old that I have a user directory and then several subdirectories, 1 directory happens to be named bill. For some reason any windows can not find this place and will not delete the folder. I then who follow the previous steps and remove this directory.

    So, in step 6, I would like to c:\windows.old\users goto, I then head to step 7 and enter the rd/s Bill and enter. Follow step 8 and the file is missing.

    Let us know if that helps.

  • Upgrade CPU, system does not boot, winload.exe "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.

    Subject pretty much said it all.  I got a new CPU, shut down the computer, installed, and now Win7 does not start.  It hangs on a black screen gripe on a signature file.  Here is the full text:

    "A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source."

    If you have a Windows installation disc, insert the disc and restart your computer.  Click 'Repair your computer' and choose a recovery tool.

    Otherwise, to start Windows, so you can investigate further, press the ENTER key to display the boot menu, press F8 for Advanced Boot Options, select last known good configuration.  If you understand why the digital signature file cannot be verified and want to start Windows without this file, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.

    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

    Status: 0xc0000428

    Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. »

    Well, the first thing I did was put in the installation CD and reboot to try the thing "repair your computer".  Charge, said he found a problem, said he has fixed the problem and restarted.  But it always hangs on the same screen of the error.

    So I tried to hit Enter and then F8 as it said to do, but brings me right to the error screen.  I'm stuck, there is nothing that I can do, and I need this computer to work tomorrow.

    Another interesting note is that the recovery on the installation CD tool identifies my system installed Windows Vista... wtf.

    Help?

    Figured out, remove the application of "Target Application Registartion" and your rules of metadata and loading data are deleted.

    I try to install Windows Embedded Standard 7 on an vacuum Compact Flash 4 GB but when installing, I get an error message "Windows cannot access the installation sources. "Check that the installation sources are accessible, and run the Setup again."

    I created an answer file with the Configuration of Image Editor and I created an Image of the IBW of my answer file. I inserted the Flash DRIVE to a computer with a Compact Flash 4 GB (which contains only a primary NTFS partition set as Active) and it starts on a USB key. IBW Wizard starts and I followed the instructions until the disk selection step. I chose the disk and partition of Compact Flash and I press the next button. First 2 installation steps manage (copy of Windows files and extend Windows files) but 3rd step (installing features and updates) failed with the error message "Windows cannot access the installation sources. Check that the installation sources are accessible, and run the Setup again.'.»

    I tried to do the same thing with a Compact Flash 4 GB, which contains 2 partitions: a primary NTFS defined as active and a system partition, but I got the same result. Then I tried to install it on a Compact Flash 8 GB which contains 1 single defined primary partition as active and I managed.

    Problem is that I must install on a Compact Flash 4 GB.
