Pavilion 15 laptop: my battery is plugged in but not charging

Hello experts,

The battery on my PC - computer HP Pavilion 15 laptop is connected but does not support. It seems to happen for a while, because he says that the battery is at 0%. I checked some old posts here, they spoke to remove battery to check the AC adapter and power cord. I guess I can't do that since the battery has zero percent left, once I unplugged the power cord, the laptop was gone black, so I guess it must be the battery problem. It seems pretty complicated to check if my battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced, is there an easier way for me to decide if I need a new battery?

PS. I tried Microsoft compatible control ACPI battery to uninstall and reinstall method, it didn't work on mine.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @greengem,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook 15 and problems with the battery, no load before turning off. Here is a link to calibrate and test the battery.  Here is a link to solve the problems of the battery on a laptop. You should be able to complete these with the laptop plugged into the AC adapter.

The power adapter is the one that was purchased with the portable?

Plug in the power adapter directly into a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

Please let me know how it goes.

By clicking on the Thumbs Up below, you can say thank you! .

Thank you.

  • Alienware M14x battery plugged in but not charging

    Hello

I'm using a computer laptop m14x and in the last week or so whenever I plug my charger does not charge the battery and so it must be plugged in at any time to use my computer. There is a message when I start the computer saying that it does not recognize the charger, but it isn't the charger I got with the laptop and battery in the corner icon at the bottom right says hip, does not support. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you

    stefan1024,

    Try this...

Unplug the adapter from the laptop
    * Disconnect, then reconnect the power adapter in the power outlet wall
    * Remove the battery from the laptop
    * Press and hold the power button to laptop in 30 seconds
Reinsert the battery and connect the AC adapter to the system

  • My laptop is plugged in but not charging

My phone displays 'sometimes' that it does not load even if the power is connected.

I called HP Tech Support twice.  Each time, they asked me to update the BIOS and firmware

before performing the battery test (both at startup and using HP diagnostic S/W).  The test always

said that the battery is OK.  I can run the laptop without battery installed without any problem, which

    probably does the charger.

This problem comes and goes.  HP is unwilling to do anything until the problem can be clearly

identified.  My warranty is about to expire (in 3 days), and I'm afraid that this problem won't get

resolved before this date.  Could someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you.

You are able to use the laptop only with the power adapter plugged?
If so, this would mean that the adapter is OK.
Is that battery begins to lose own performance after his indictment for 400 - 500 times. I would recommend so test the laptop using new, good battery under test.

  • charger is plugged in but not charging

my laptop charger is plugged in, but do not load, I'm not sure what is wrong and need assistance as soon as possible.

    Hello

It is possible that the battery is bad or the charger is, and you might need help, from a real computer
Shop (not the leeks and the glances at a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or system manufacturer support.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Control Panel control - plan change Options - power plans - power - advanced settings
Parameters for the drainage and the use of parameters (this is how much to use and not how much or how)
    long to load).

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With today
systems overload are not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

I use the free version of BatteryBar to monitor my battery. Click on the green button on the

  • Z570: Plugged in but not charging status message

    Hello

I recently had a computer laptop z570. I get status above message "trendy but no charging current.

What is the reason for this?

What is an adapter or battery problem or one other change of parameter to enable this

I tried the 'Balanced' & 'High Performance' option on the options of power but had no luck.

Can someone give clues on this issue because I believe that this must have been discussed before here?

    Thank you

try to remove/replace the battery first. Also try this trick: remove the battery and AC power, press the power button / stop for 30-40 seconds, replace the battery and check if it works.

  • Y40 charger plugged in but not charging

I've recently had problems with my battery display is stuck at certain percentages and display incorrect percentages. I then updated for Windows 10 of 8.1 and now when I have the charger is connected to the laptop detects it, but it says that it does not charge. I tried to follow the instructions online to solve this problem, I uninstalled the drivers under the battery in Device Manager and then restarted but nothing has worked. If anyone knows how to fix it please let me know!

I figured it out, just had the setting out of battery on the health of the battery optimized so it could not load completely. Ridicule me.

  • my laptop is about 2 years old. He repeats to me that it he plugged in but not charging

It is said that network cable may not be plugged in properly.  As it is plugged in, the battery doesn't drain, however.  I plugged it to my nephew and he said the same thing.  I also tried a different plug and it says the same thing.  Any suggestions?

You either need a new battery (most likely) or the converter has not (less likely).  I would contact the manufacturer for a replacement battery.

  • U310 battery plugged in but not charging

    Hello

My battery stops approximately 58% of load. I have the power management set to «optimized battery life» I understand that this has something to do with a charge/discharge threshold setting. How can I change this? Also, what would be a good standard to (good for the health of the battery).

    Thank you!

    Dear Kaldr,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community

The (battery optimized) contributes to the protection of the battery and increase the battery life.

By choosing the (optimized battery), the fresh battery at 60% and stops charging the battery and then it take its power from the charger, so if you want to charge the battery to 100%, you should choose (maximum autonomy).

Please try this solution and if the problem persists, let me know.
