Pavilion G7-2276SA: formatting of HP Pavilion G7-2276SA
I bought the HP Pavilion G7-2276SA in December 2012. He had Windows installed in 8 and I had upgraded to Windows 10 when there was an available free urgrade. I want to format my laptop now, and I suspect that the laptop back to factory settings l formatted which means it goes back to Windows 8. I much prefer Windows 10; I'll always be able to upgrade to Windows 10 after formatting the laptop?
Also someone could also identify and explain the steps of formatting of the laptop
Kind regards
Ravi
Hello
You can simply perform a new installation of 10 - that the machine has been previously upgraded to 10, a hardware profile (digital rights) will have been saved by the activation servers.
As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after upgrade from 8.1, you just create your own installation media and perform a new installation as described in the guide on the following link. Note: On the activation screen, select "I have not a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

Pavilion m81897c: Advanced Format Drive
My 8 year hard drive seems to have died. I love HP and particularly in this case and the mobo to work well for me, so I plan to replace my Vista 32 bit w / 64 bit W7 and install a 1 TB WD HD that has a warning on the label that it is a format disc advanced. It means the Web of WD site for more information. This whole process looks like defusing a bomb for me so any advice to avoid the traps will be appreciated!
Webbww, welcome to the forum.
Advanced Format drives don't work with old HP computers. I suggest buying a standard SATA, 7200 RPM. You can use disks to 6 Gbit/s because they are backward compatible. Also, here is a good guide to help you to restore the system after replacing the drive. It will help to defuse the bomb.
Here are the upgrades are advised by Crucial memory for your computer. You can try one of them to increase the performance of the SSD. You will have to buy one at least 128 GB to work with recovery disks.
Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

Try refomat Pavilion dv6 Vista 64-bit. C: format not available
It has been a year since I have my Pavilion dv6. It's a little slow and I want a new installation of Windows 7 64-bit. All my data is stored on external hard drive.
I have my recovery disk ready to go. When I right click on "C:" in the management of the computer, it won't let me choose 'Format '. It is just gray.
How to reformat my C:?
Yes, my laptop has a recovery partiion (D I understand that I must leave in tact.)
Advice on getting this format complete?
Hello
Since you still have the recovery partition, use Restore Factory is a better option because formatting OS drive is not the same as the format or other readers. Please back up all your data/files first.
To set your PC/laptop to the factory settings, restart the PC/laptop. At HP Home screen has reached repeatly F11 (or ESC) key to start the recovery process. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Kind regards.

HP Pavilion 17-g053us: g053us hp format for windows 7
I'm debating buying a HP Pavilion g053us 17 loaded with Windows 10. However, I do like NOT all spyware/privacy on Windows 10 issues, and until Microsoft fixes them I can stay with my laptop Windows 7 older HP's existing. Microsoft will give me a free upgrade of Windows 10 until July 29, 2016, so I have a lot of time to decide...
My question is since I have a Windows 7 Ultimate installation disk, this PC can be formatted and equipped with Windows 7 Ultimate? A shop selling the 17-g053us did not understand what I have spoke and could not tell me if there is a drivers/recovery disk included in the box with the new PC! Another Member of the staff of store insisted it could not be done period.
SO: If I own a Windows 7 installation disc, CAN the HP Pavilion 17 - g053us be restored for Windows 7 Ultimate? Windows 7 GENERALLY find all need drivers on a REINSTALL... but if not, are Windows 7 compatible drivers available or in the box of the new laptop (including drivers... recovery disks) or online at HP? Thanks for any help.
For Windows 10 data collection, you can manually, turn off a lot of that through settings.
But, if you want to really turn everything off, then watching in a freeware product called to destroy Windows 10 spying. I installed it on my system Win10 and this one really turn off all the monitoring and telemetry. You can find regularly posted on this Web site: MajorGeeks.com - download of Freeware and Shareware computer utilities.
As for questions of Win7, this laptop comes with installed Win7, if HP carries drivers Win7. See the link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/7771368/model/8429740#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1
Note: IF this link does not display a Win7 for you, then click on EDIT and select Windows 7.
You can certainly to reformat the hard drive and install any Win7 for which you have the DVD installation and license - including Ultimate. There is no driver or the recovery disk came with the laptop, you can get by contacting HP customer service.

HP Pavilion dm1 Notebook: after formatting drive HARD Windows Activation failed
My laptop (HP Pavilion dm1z-3000) comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My system was full of junk it was not usable. I tried to use the feature of HP recovery, several times but it still fails. So I decided to format and reinstall Windows.
I got a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit OEM I bought for a desktop computer. Before formatting, I used a software key finder to get the Windows key from the original Windows 7 installed on my laptop, so I could use it to validate the other copy of Windows 7, but I found that I get an error 0xC004F063 code, the computer BIOS missing licence reqd
Help, please.

Well, this would mean that you have to order the official HP recovery media to restore factory.

HP Pavilion dv7-6c73el: Windows 7 won't find Wireless Device after format/reinstall
Hello
I've just formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows 7.
While reinstalling all the drivers, I noticed that Windows doesn't recognize / find my wireless adapter device.
The real problem is that I don't know on which is my laptop wifi adapter. So I tried the 3 drivers I found here:
http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv7-entertainment-notebook-PC-series/5169332/model/5...But none of them worked (in fact, the system even allow me to install).
I also installed the HP connection manager, who said that my wireless device is 'disabled in Device Manager.
I went to the window manager devices, but under "Network adapters" I see only the controller PCI Realtek.
What should I do? I really need my WiFi adapter to work.
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7
Product number: A9X73EA #ABZ
Serial number: [personal information]
I appreciate your help,
Thank you!

Pavilion Elite m9600t: OS reinstall for HD "Advanced format" on Windows Vista
I have a HP Pavilion Elite m9600t desktop provided with Windows Vista. Recently my 640 GB Hitachi hard drive gone bad. I ordered a new one (Seagate 1 TB), installed and tried to reinstall the Vista operating system with the provided HP Vista recovery disks.
During installation, the following message appeared: "installation of Windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer." I did research and found this happens on Vista with discs advanced formatting (AF). My new record is AF.
I have read some threads on the forum of HP who say that you can always do the operating system installed, but you have to do by creating a new disc of installation with your product key, and then mix a partitioning in there. I'm confused on where to find the ISO files for Vista (64-bit SP1), as well as how to partition before installing the operating system, and which must be partitioned.
I have a drive to upgrade Vista to Windows 7, but I can't use it until Vista is installed. Is there a way I can ignore the Vista installation process and move to Windows 7? Who could help me to avoid the issue of the AF.
Thank you!
Paul R
Hello:
You can check this link to know how to clean your drive of W7 upgrade installation. I assume you have the W7 upgrade of the key product that will be necessary.
http://helpdeskgeek.com/Windows-7/clean-install-Windows-7-using-an-upgrade-disc/
Another thing you can try, is to format your new drive to NTFS MBR and get rid of the advanced formatting.
You can use this disk management software and create a bootable CD, and if everything goes well after you format the disc as it was supposed to be for your PC, you can use the recovery discs if the clean install from a disk upgrade W7 does not (because of the problem of the AF).

Not supported format - Blu - Ray will not play on HP Pavilion
I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC WA794UA #ABA CNF0162R76.
Whenever I try to play a Blu - Ray disc in my Blu - Ray player, I get an "Unsupported Format" Message in HP MediaSmart DVD Player.
What I am doing wrong?
Hello
If you use HP MediaSmart DVD (which can be glitch) to read the Blu - ray disc, try the following.
HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution. Download the installer for it on the link below and save it to your desktop.
FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53001-53500/sp53029.exe
When the download is complete, open windows panneau Panel configuration, open programs and features, right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - once this process is complete, restart the laptop.
When windows has reloaded, double-click the installer for PowerDVD 10 start the installation. Once this done, see if your Blu - ray disc now plays OK.
Kind regards
