Pavilion 17-e020us: Intel Core i7-4712MQ vs AMD 10 - 5750M

Hello

I can move my PC to the Intel Core i7-4712MQ CPU or the A10 - 5750M AMD processor, and I'm not sure I should choose.  Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each:

  • I7-4712MQ

    • 4 cores
    • Hyperthreading
    • 6 MB SmartCache
    • Clock base 2.3 GHz
    • 3.3 GHz Turbo
    • Intel HD 4600 graphics card
    • Intel virtualization technology
  • A10 - 5750M
    • 4 cores
    • Without Hyperthreading
    • 4 MB L2 cache
    • 2.5 GHz clock database
    • Turbo 3.5 GHz
    • Radeon HD 8650 G graphics card
    • Virtualization AMD - V technology

The main things to note here are that the i7 has hyperthreading and more cache while the A10 has a slightly higher clock speed.  I'm not sure which is better graphics; all I know is that the Radeon is known to be a better brand than Intel HD Graphics.

I mention how virtualization technology is included because one of the things I want to do on the main PC develops Windows Store apps with Microsoft Visual Studio. to do this, I need to be able to simultaneously run emulators mobile emulators and the tablet to test my application on.  So far, I only had experience with Intel Virtualization Technology.  It would make a difference if I switch to AMD - V?  Which do you recommend?

So, in conclusion, which would you choose spec-wise?  I would really appreciate if you could also give me your opinion on graphics performance and thus virtualization technologies.

Thank you very much to all who have responded.

If you already know your i3 - 3110M is soldered to the motherboard, and you have decided to replace the whole motherboard with a model bridge and the processor? Do you have a detailed investigation into the cost? Motherboards Intel and AMD them can have discrete graphics, and if you replace the motherboard in any case there is no reason to not go to the enthusiasm and get the best advice and the processor. So by comparing the integrated graphical subsystem of the two processors is irrelevant. And if virtual machines are the reason why you do this that you obviously want to get out the max memory and get a SSD drive for better performance. But at the time you do all that you can get a new laptop, I'm afraid.

On the side of Intel that I see the top of the processor as the i7-4702MQ page, incidentally.

Manual

If it boils down to Intel vs AMD the answer is Intel throughout the day, unless the price is an object to which case AMD can be made to be OK in a pinch. Intel does everything better than AMD, including virtualization.

Post back with more questions.

Yes you can here is the Manual:

    Manual

The manual lists these 2, which are faster than your 2.5 ghz i5 - 3210M:

Intel Core i7-3632QM (2.2 GHz, turbo SC up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/6 MB cache L3, quad core, 35 W)

    Intel Core i5 - 3230M (2.6 GHz, turbo SC up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/3 MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)

The i5 - 3230M is faster so not worth the effort or expense seulement.1 ghz but the i7-3632QM would be an update is worthwhile, but always brings a price more high about $200-250 on eBay and through room houses. Too much money in my opinion. Your call. Let me know if you want me to help you find one at the best price possible.

Save money and get a SSD drive. Also much easier to install. The processor you have isn't bad.

  • HP Pavilion a6519fh: processor Intel Core 2 duo E6700 cpu upgrade

Hi, I have an a6519fh Pc which came with a Pentium dual core E2180, I want to know if a Conroe E6700 is compatible with this PC, as I read that some motherboards are not that mine is an IPIBL-LB (Benicia). Thanks for any advice or help :))

    Hello:

Here is the link to the motherboard for your PC card.

    Core 2 Duo E6x00 (C) until E6700 C = Conroe.

You can also see the other processors supported as the E8xxx Wolfdale.

  • Pavilion 17-e020us: upgrade of processor on HP Pavilion e020us 17 with Core i3 - 3110M

    Hello

I woud like to upgrade the processor in my HP Pavilion notebook e020us 17.  It currently has an Intel Core i3 processor - 3110 m dual-core clocked at 2.40 GHz.  I realize that upgrading the processor in my model means also I need a new motherboard and heatsink of heat, and I'm ready to replace the parts too.

I'm looking for a quad-core processor that can run at more than 3 GHz (it's OK if the base frequency is less, so that it can Turbo / be overclocked to over 3 GHz).

If it helps, I know that the current laptop processor TDP is 35W; When I'm upgrading, I'm looking to improve performance (I don't care if it lowers the battery life and uses more energy).  The laptop currently is not a battery (that it came with death), and it's the one he used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-47WH-HP-Pavilion-PI06-14-E000-15-E000-710416-001-HSTNN-UB4N-Battery...  .  The reason why I mention this is that some new mobile processors, like this: http://ark.intel.com/products/88972/Intel-Core-i7-6920HQ-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz, consume more energy, but have better performance.  Can I get a processor like this one that consumes more energy, but is more powerful (that one would work?)?  If so, what other parts that would replace?

If you need to know anything else about the specs of the laptop, you can find it here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03782483.

So, who's the best processor I can update that fits my needs (see the second paragraph), regardless of the cost?  What other components should I buy?  Links for what I need would be great!

Thank you very much to all who have responded.

    Hello

Please don't ask why mw but go to page 85 to get the right for selected CPU part number and order of HP. The document also shows you how to replace the CPU.

And if you ask my why, my answer: in many cases, we allowed HP part number, buyning also the chance to make it work is 50-50.

1 Ethernet / Lan both cable and wireless

    2 graphics/chipset

    3. touch pad

    4. audio

    5 webcam etc.

I don't know why HP does not provide CD/DVD purchase. It is very difficult to find compatible drivers here.

    Thank you

    MILIN

Yes. This means that HP offers no support for Windows 8.1.

What you run is the absolute disadvantage of buying a laptop without Windows operating system delivered.

Save you money initially, but it certainly comes with headaches for you.

If you can provide PCI\VEN strings for devices that are displayed in the device as Manager with no driver installed, then the search of drivers may be possible.

It would be much simpler install Windows 7 and upgrade to Windows 10.

well the series GeForce 7600 Series was released in 2006, it is nearly 4 years.

In combination with the Core 2 Duo 2 GHz, you will be able to play games like Battlefield 2 or Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare very decent

    and a half indecent:
    Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, half-life 2, counter-strike: Source, The Sims 2, BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Fifa 07, Fifa 08, for example.
    In general, you can play all the games released in< 2007="" or="" early="" 2008="" depending="" on="" the="" image="" quality="">

But games like Crysis or other DirectX 10 games will be not playable.
I hope this helps a little.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but you cannot use the Core i5 - 2540M. You must use the processor Core i5 - 480 M. Some laptops series G6 such as ones of G6-1200 use chips from the second generation, so the manual you have is a general for all laptops to G6. The first generation Intel processors use a different socket than the second. A possible compatibility for Intel processors is when you have an Ivy Bridge chipset third generation) and you can use a Sandy Bridge CPU (2nd generation)...

From this thread because I have to say how confused I'm on processor options for my DV5 1138

I want a Quad Core, or at least a faster dual core... but my main question is if I can use one of the Intel Core i # series processors. Anyone happens to know? I think that my type of socket is P (478). That's what he said when I ran a test CPU-Z on the laptop. Or can I go in i # Core-series so I have to stay with the Core 2 series?

    Thanks in advance

Ur stuck with the core 2 duo.

But this isn't bad at all. Since you have CPU - Z.

See if you have the GM45 and PM45 chipset.

    Sound on the mainboard tab.

If you do, you could go with a SLGEE T9900 processor.

    Its 3.06 GHZ, 6 MB L2, 1066FSB and a TDP of 35 watts.

    Its an expensive upgrade...

  • Pavilion 17-e020us: HP Pavilion 17-e020us card mother/processor upgrade Question

    Hello

I think to upgrade the motherboard on my HP Pavilion PC 17 - e020us.  The manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04069163.pdf) contains a list of supported processors, and I'm not sure that we choose.  The computer currently has a processor Intel Core i3 - 3110M with 10 64 - bit Windows.  I am deciding between the Intel Core i7-3632QM and the Intel Core i5 - 3230M processor (the processor TDP should be 35 w or I have to get a new power supply).  You can view a comparison between the two processors and the currently in the system here: http://ark.intel.com/compare/71670, 72056,65700.  Although the i7 has a lower base frequency, it has more hearts; the reverse is true for the i5.  Could you please tell me what CPU should I choose (I'll get the corresponding motherboard)?  Here are the main things I've done on the PC: web navigation on board or Chrome, using Microsoft Office and software development with Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 (which means that I often use of the Tablet and mobile emulators to test my application - it means also I need to compile quickly and be good with graphics rendering (for design applications/Games)).

In addition, please could you me of those in the manual of the motherboard (34 in PDF of page, page is numbered 24 down to the left)?

Thank you very much to all who have responded.

    Hello

Normally we use the rule of 3 C to choose a processor. They are Cache, Core and clock. In this case, I'd choose processor 6 MB Cache. It also has more Core and clock is a little slower but a lot of applications, the slowdown factor is not processor but another factor, namely the HARD disk.

    Kind regards.

    What is the installed processor?

If it's the 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor P7550 as statedin the specifications, then it does not support virtualization.

This is why the option is not present in the BIOS.

The installed operating system has nothing to do with not having virutualization. The CPU must be capable of it, and the possibility to enable\disable functionality must be present in the GUI of the BIOS.

    -Jake

    The i7-920 (and all the i7 - 9xx) use a socket 1366.

    The i7 - 8xx (as well as the I5-870) use a socket 1156.

So yes... or need a new motherboard

The slabs 1366 (and fleas) allow triple channel memory configuration. (assuming that you buy the correct combination of the RAM of the system: not all proposed configurations will be a Tri-channel performance).

1156 slabs (and chips) will allow the configuration of memory dual channel (assuming that you buy the correct combination of the RAM of the system: not all proposed configurations will be a performance dual channel)

All i7 chips are hyperthreading. The i5 chip is not.

There is debate if tri-channel ram 1066 is actually faster than ram dual channel 1366. Of course, don't buy a PC with a misconfiguration of ram.
