Pavilion 17-e111nr memory is expandable to 16 GB

I would buy the 17-e111nr and upgrade the memory up to 16 GB. In the specs, it says not supported even though it has 2 banks that can hold 8 GB each.

Is at the edge of the memory controlled by the Bios and HP just turn it on not or only the AMD processor able to use 16 GB.

Thank you

Danny D

As you have seen, officially supported max memory is 12 GB.

Your repair manuals

I have to question myself and suspect strongly 2 x 8 = 16 GB will work very well because there is no physical limitation in chipset or anything else. Yet, I am not able to rewrite the manual. 16 gigs by train is at your own expense and without any real guarantee it will work other that my "intuition" and who and 4 males gets you a Starbucks.

I will also say that 16 gigs is rarely necessary to any user and 8 GB is plenty for most people. 12 concerts, I wouldn't like your best performance is with 2 identical modules.

Do not add the new memory module that is already there. Remove the original memory unless you can locate a module that is identical in every respect to be placed in the empty soDIMM slot. You don't have to try to match the specifications of the module of the computer laptop memory published unless you like surprises.

  • G6-1141sl Pavilion: Pavilion g6-1141sl memory upgrade

    Hello world

I had the laptop above (Pavillion g6-1141sl) a few years ago. It's quite slow now, global memory is almost full, as soon as I open some software, so I would like to upgrade.

I found different opinions from different sources about the limit of memory of the laptop:

-on the technical specifications of the HP Web site-> memory: 4 GB max memory: expandable up to 4 GB (!) http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-G6-notebook-PC-series/5082224/model/5149102/document...

-on the Manual :-> supports up to 8 GB in the following configurations: 6 GB = 4 GB + 2 GB, etc. (!) http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02834221

-different Web sites different status information.

The laptop has two slots and comes with a single filled with a 4 GB module.

Can someone help me understand if I can add several memory modules? I don't want to buy a new laptop only to add little RAM.

    Thanks in advance

I have seen and talked about. This can take up to 8 GB, but HP sold only with up to 6 is how I interpret that. Other laptops using the same basic material can take 8 gigs. I am sure it will take 8 gigs.

  • Pavilion p6608f: upgrade memory for p6608f

Hello, my Pavilion p6608f came with 4 GB of RAM. I want to upgrade. By HP features, the motherboard is a MSI ms-7613 and it should support up to 16 GB of RAM (4 x 4 GB DIMMS). I bought 4 DIMM which seem to fit specifications, but the computer wouldn't POST after installation. I tried reseating the DIMMs, but no luck. My hypothesis is that the memory is not compatible.  I'm unable to find good information on the compatible memory for this computer on the site of Kingston, MSI site, or the site of HP. Page 3: up to 12 GB max listed, but your comments in this forum, you can go up to 16 GB (8 GB in two slots) without any problem. I don't see any use to spend money to total more than 8 GB of RAM unless you're in video editing, photo shopping, multi tasking etc.

  • HP Pavilion DV71-4100 Memory Module failure

    Hello

My product is a HP Pavilion laptop as follows:

    Product: ww181av

    Model: DV71-4100

    Series: [personal information]

My phone worked terribly slow and I thought I had a virus.  Analyses have shown that I have not.  I ran HP diagnostics and came with a memory Module failure with the following information:

    Failure ID: m89jxt-5A76KO(or 0)-xdOO(or 00) 2 k-4o(or 0) 2eO (or 0) 3

    Part ID: 181AV

Sorry for the question O/0.  I don't know if this is o or zeros.

Is it a simple part replacement (IE a chip memory) and if so can I order and install myself?  Or is it something I need to take to an HP repair center in THE West somewhere (assuming there is one)?  An idea of the cost?

    Thank you!

    [Personal information]

    Hello:

You should be able to do the replacement yourself. This is a great do it yourself project for the first time.

The first thing you need to do is to determine which module of memory is bad (if your laptop has two modules are installed, and many of them do).

I use a very technical but very effective method to determine which.

First remove the a/c and battery power (always do when you work inside the laptop).

Remove one of the memory modules. I leave the battery, then plug the power of a/c.

Turn on the PC. If it starts, and that you do not get the failure error memory then you were lucky and found the bad chip on the first try.

If it does not start or if you get an error, turn off the PC, unplug the unit, remove the bad chip and replace it with the first one you removed. The PC should now start and run OK.

So, now that you have found the bad chip, you must know how much GB is. Normally, it's on the sticker.

Just buy the same chip memory size with the same characteristics.

    You need a DDR3 PC3-10600 memory module.

If you let me know which module of memory of size you need (2 GB, 4 GB), I'll post a link to a site that sells the memory at low prices.

Depending on which chip the size you need, replacement costs must not exceed $40,00.

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

The memory of the removal and replacement procedures are given in Chapter 4.

  • Pavilion A700 n memory upgrade

    Hello

I want to upgrade the RAM on my Pavilion Z700 n that was installed with 512 MB. When I got outside, the label on it said that it was a PC3200 400 MHz DDR.

But when I checked online, the manual said that it the PC uses PC - 2700 RAM.

Also, when I checked in with Crucial line for the compatible modules, the site suggested that I could have a maximum of 2 x 1 GB PC-3200 modules while the manual says I can install up to 2 X 512 MB PC-2700 modules.

Could someone clarify if I can install 2 X 1 GB PC-3200 modules on the machine?

    Thank you

Your PC has a motherboard ASUS A7V8X-(Kelut) . The plug from motherboard to state that it will accept 2 GB PC2700 / memory modules DDR PC2100 non ecc.

Think this Crucial than said you. The modules are guaranteed compatible with that upgrade is expensive compared to upgrade a PC more modern that uses DDR2.  PC3200 modules will have their speed downgraded by your BIOS by the SPD settings that the BIOS sees it in the code memstick. PC2700 / non ecc PC2100 modules are simply not easy to find because they are no longer manufactured.

Yu will have to remove the installed OEM memory modules and use only new replacement modules
