Pavilion 550-110: 2nd HARD drive and video card

You can put in a second HDD in the 550-110? Is there a Bay and the cable? Can hold my Nvidia GeForce 9500GT? He needs a PCIe 16 spot.

Damascus2, welcome to the forum.

Here is the data on your computer.  If you look at Page 2 of the section of extension bays it shows 2-internal - 3.5 "(un disponible)."  This is where the second hard disk can be installed.  In addition, you will need data cable and SATA power.

The motherboard has a PCI Express x 16 slot.  However, the power supply unit (PSU) is only 180W.  It will not feed the 9500GT.

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.

    Thank you.

First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard.  Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation.  This should go a long way toward you're going to get.  If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot.  You can't port XP perfectly the way you did.   It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer. Hi, I have 2 80 GB HDD (SATA - 1 + 2 - ATA). whenever I turn on my system (XP SP3) then chkdsk runs automatically
and checks my 2nd HARD drive and shows many errors like "replacement Windows a bad cluster in file:...". "like that.
and it takes a lot of time around 3 to 4 hours. He then shows the windows xp desktop,
but the problem is MY SECOND HARD drive IS NOT SHOWN in EXPLORER, IT IS GONE.
Can someone help me, I have my imp data on my 2nd HARD drive.
How do I return there without losing any data or file?

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?
2 - is an internal hard drive?

Step 1: Check if hard driver is getting detected in Device Manager and send back the same.

Step 2: Check if this disc is getting detected in disk management.

Step 3: To disable chkdsk at startup, follow these steps:

    b.Navigate to the following subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

I have a HP Pavilion p6-2016.  Can I install a 2nd HARD drive?  There is no power connector (15 pills) for a 2nd HARD drive... If a 2nd HARD drive is acceptable without overloading the power supply, which cable I can buy for this?

According to the specifications, there is that a single Bay 3.5 inch inside:

I don't know where you're going safely mount a second hard drive in it. If you need an additional SATA power cable, you have a power cable 4 white pin (molex) unused? • HP Pavilion 15-e073ca: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion e073ca 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hello!

I intend to add an SSD in my two years 15-e073ca HP Pavilion Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

In other words, there is my plan:

1 remove the real disk HDD hard bay and replace it with the new SSD.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD, using a recovery USB stick made with my system Windows 10 real (which has been updated from Windows 8.1).

I plan to purchase the following parts:

    1 - a HDD / SSD cart adapter for HP Pavilion 15 (model OBHD9-SATA-SATA-BU9), of NewmodeUS (http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=583)

    2 - a SSD 128 GB (article SDSSDHP - 128G), SanDisk (http://www.sandisk.com/products/ssd/sata/ultra-plus/?capacity=128gb)

I have a few questions before I buy parts:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 - the height of the SSD is 7mm, and it seems that my old HDD is 9.5 mm in height (model WDC WD10JPVT-60A1YT0). It would cause no problem (I need to add spacers)?

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Haghe

Your plan is perfect. The SSD to will of 7 mm that always come back fine it just will be lower in the caddy. The holes and SATA connections are in the same place as a hard drive of 9.5 mm. You can use a spacer (many SSD include one in the box) but not really necessary.

Installing SSD for Windows 10 the way you expect is not really "own", that he will again introduce files and programs, in my opinion and certainly drivers. Whatever it is, it works perfectly and activates the old installation has been enabled.

The hard disk in the optical adapter will not be bootable and will transfer the data a bit slower than a drive in the main compartment, but will still be usable for most cases. If you need fast input/output like Photoshop or video editing move the job file to the first SSD. Alternatively, you may wish to consider documents and photos and other migration on the HARD drive to keep the 128 GB SSD to fill. You can right-click on these files and select 'place' and move them. After the back if you need some help with that.

    Enjoy.

Someone has installed an extra in a PAV 550-154na hard drive please?

The status bar which seems to be there for this purpose is taken up in part by the SSD & there is no obvious place to go. Upgrade manual is no help at all.

    Thank you very much.

After a long session of frustrating chat to HP technical support followed a much more fruitful telephone conversation, looks like this came to a dead end. but at least I have the opportunity to put my HARD drive in a case and use it outside. 2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

I already have a 120 GB OCZ SSD (OCZ Vertex 3).

I have a few questions before buying the adapter:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 should. What size the card be? I found offers for 9.5 mm and 12.7 mm that are supposed to be suitable for HP Pavilion in general

graphics mobile geforce or ati 2. can / will be mounted instead of the integrated graphics card?

the answers would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

It is not possible to upgrade or replace the graphics card. The graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard. It s not the same technology as on desktop computers.
Upgrading the HARD drive is something different. It of possible to replace the HARD drive to another. But before you replace the HARD drive, you must check if the HARD disk is compatible and if the BIOS will recognize.
Sometimes the BIOS cannot recognize the hardest.
