Pavilion 550-147ns: virtualization of Intel hp pavilion 550-147ns

Hi, I have to turn on virtualization technology Intel on my pc desktop Pavilion but cannot find the option in the BIOS :-(

Can we do? Should I look elsewhere?

Thank you!!

Hello

Ah, another card mother HP.  Look in the BIOS under the security down list, then the system security.

Did you perhaps mean 750-147 and not 550-147?

    Hello!

I installed my BIOS of 1.2 to 3.2 in the hope to have access to these interesting possibility of virtualization of intel because I want them to be used with xen, so I can run Windows on Xen.
Unfortunately, they are not available and there is no option in the BIOS to enable them.

Anyone able to help? Do I need a special BIOS or something? Can I allow them by a secret code? (had this one on a Gigabyte card: D)

    Thank you for your help.

    mmm64

Hmm what CPU do you have?

The Intel Core 2 Duo processor * series T7 * support Intel VT but some Intel processors * T5 * series don t support the VT!
So if you CPU supports the VT you should find the VT option in the BIOS!

  • Qosmio G50-136 - how to turn on hardware virtualization

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G50-136 with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, which is supposed to be YES to virtualization technology (intel VT - x) by intel itself ([intel | http://ark.intel.com/products/35568/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-P8600-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB]).

My problem is that no available through HWSetup bios settings refer to the hardware virtualization.
So is it possible to activate it? I run mac os x 64 bit in vmware workstation.

    > My problem is that no available through HWSetup bios settings refer to the hardware virtualization.

.and did you check the BIOS settings?
To my knowledge, the VT can be enabled and disabled only in the BIOS.
If these parameters is missing or not supported, you will not be able to turn the VT

  • Virtualization in Satellite C850

    Hello

I installed VMware virtualization software in Satellite C850-1 kN and tried to use SAS software on top of that. And then I made the necessary changes in the BIOS setting still I'm getting the following case: binary translation is incompatible with the long mode on this platform. & the following popup says: this virtual machine is set to the 64-bit guest operating system. However, 64-bit performance is not possible. This host does not support the Inte VT - X. And I activated the virtualization technology VT - x only in the BIOS. Clues as to what I should do?

The laptop supports the Intel Pentium B960
Intel ARK page provides details on this CPU
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/59836/

As you can see the virtualization technology Intel® (VT - x) isn't supported!

  • No option of virtualization in the BIOS with the Portege R500

    Hello

Thought I'd post a new thread as the old man seems to be dead...

I just want to know if someone has been able to use an extensions of virtualization Portege R500 processor, Linux, Windows or any other OS. I guess that this will become a requirement of mainstream with windows 7 now out.

If you have been able to use it, could you please put your laptop model correct (it should be on a sticker on the bottom)

This was my original post, showing that the CPU must support her:

I HAV a Portege R500 (or a model equivalent, bought the Japan), v BIOS 1.60 and everytime I try to use applications that supports virtualization extensions, I can't. I use linux as my OS, and he tells me that the virtualization extensions have been disabled by the BIOS.

However, I can't find an option for this in the BIOS! R500 manual (form available from the toshiba support area), there should be an option, just after "core multi processing", I can see:

    Virtualization technology
Sets of virtualization technologies enable or disable the Intel Virtualization
    Technology installed in the processor.
Virtualization technology Intel is the technique that allows a machine to
operated under the name of multiple virtual machines.
Virtualization technology is compatible with some models.
The disabled command does not use the Intel Virtualization
    Technology.
The use of Intel Virtualization Technology Enabled command.
    Virtualization technology allows.
    Activated
    Disables (default) virtualization technology.
    People with disabilities

    But it isn't here!

In addition, I see that virtualization is supported by the processor - the 'vmx' flag is present. The processor is model U7600, it should be supported. You can see from the Intel Web site:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLV3W

Anyone know if it is available through he windows BIOS app (although it is not documented in the manual)? Anyone know if it is possible to contact Toshiba and ask them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Are you sure there is NO virtualization option in the BIOS?
Have you checked all the pages?

I found your other thread on the clearing of password and you said this doesn t work, but maybe it works you need to check the VT option yet!

More as you say, the processor must support the VT to VT option in the BIOS the Intel Core 2 Duo processor ULV U7600 support VT

As far as I know there are also a few sets of cell phones where the VT option is not available in the BIOS, but if the processor takes in charge the VT VT is enabled by default as well as the VT option is not present in the BIOS.

  • Satellite P100-434 - how to activate VT?

I have a P100-434 (obviously lol) and its ascent with a T5500 CPU.

According to intel, it supports the VT, so how do I activate it?
    My google-fu breaks me down.

Maybe you should read this FAQ from Toshiba:

+ The P100 series supports the "Intel Virtualization Technology" (Intel VT)? +

If the processor supports the "Intel virtualization technology" then it is activated by * default.*
There is no point in the BIOS to change the setting.

    Good bye

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I now use my desktop for a while, I went back to my laptop and installed the Windows Phone 8.1 emulator computer and it worked!

The source of my problem because I used the following tools to check if I have virtualization intel enabled (Coreinfo.exe & securable.exe) and both did indicated that I did not and that the BIOS do not have the option to enable or disable the functionality of virtualization of intel.

After all, it seems a bug in the BIOS!

    Everything works great now fo.

  • Windows XP Mode on T520

I recently bought my T520 and am in love! The only problem is that when I run Windows XP Mode, it tells me that Intel VT is not available on my system. When I checked the Intel site for my processor (i7 2720QM) it says that Intel VT is supported. I found nothing also in the BIOS settings to try to address this problem.

    How can I fix?

    Thank you

    Jordan

The virtualization of Intel-VT parameters are under the security settings of the BIOS.  I have no idea who decided to go there on this wave of machines.  Bad decision.

  • Install ESXi 5.5 restarts the Adaptec RAiD card

    Hello

I have a job im trying to install ESXi 5.5 on. I got it running on the machine perfectly well until I added a map of Adaptec Raid 3805. Now when I try to install ESXi it restarts everything when trying to load the AACRAID driver. It isn't hanging or show all errors. It just restarts immediately.

VMware claim the Adaptec 3805 is compatible with ESXi 5.5

Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening?

    Managed to solve this problem.

I had to disable virtualization technology Intel® for Directed i/o in bios and now the installation program works perfectly

    Any other suggestions?

The host itself needs little memory too, which is not available for virtual machines. Please take a look at the 'Resources' of the virtual host tab to see how much memory is available for virtual machines. There is also an overload of memory you need to take into account for the power on the virtual machine. Assignment of a bit more memory to the VM ESXi (~4.5GB) should do.

  • Xeon vs i7 cpu

I currently have an AMD Phenom II 965... now I try to make a new processor and Mo and im a little in a delema between Xeon E3-1270 and the i7 comparison. What is the best processor to run vmware... i7 Xeon or.

FYI... my plan is to use vmware workstation. Perhaps down the road pc could be converted into a full server with vsphere

    Hi rneedham88,

You can check this link for the discussion on the i7 vs xeon processor:

    http://www.Webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=925910

and this comparison of samples of i7 and Xeon processor:

    http://Ark.Intel.com/compare/52214, 52276

Based on the discussion and your specifications, processor Xeon is best suited for your tasks which will mainly make the functions and activities of the server. Xeon processor has support for ECC memory and has the advantage over the larger L1/L2 cache. Outside the ECC support, Xeon also supports Intel® vPro Technology, virtualization technology Intel® Directed i/o (VT - d) and Intel® Trusted Execution Technology that would certainly increase the overall performance, particularly on virtualization.

So in my opinion, Xeon is the best way to go if you're in the activities of virtualization and server.

  • ESX 4.1 or ESXi 4.1 in VMWorkstation 7.0, cannot create x 64 bit guest OS Windows in versions of ESX

    Here's what I have...
Computer laptop operating system: Windows 7 x 64
Laptop CPU: Intel i7 Q720, BIOS enabled for Intel-VT
    VM Workstation Version 7
I installed successfully 4.1 ESX and ESXi 4.1 operating system as a guest in VMware Workstation 7 and they work perfectly well.
Note: I installed the ESX Server after adding the monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE" in the VMX file and change the driver of virtualization of Intel VT - x in the parameter vmworkstation to the customer.
But after installing the ESX or ESXi when I'm checking the CPU, it tells me that it does support virtualization. I run this command on the ESX host, which returns a value of zero, I suppose to support CPU must return the value 3, any help would be really appreciated.
