Pavilion 550qe Desktop: is the extensible desktop Pavilion 550qe computer of SSD HARD drive and also increased the RAM?

I buy the HP Pavilion 550qe desktop computer, and it will come with a 1 to HARD drive and 8 GB of ram.   I'll be able to open and pass at the disk for one SSD... and also, can I replace the 8 GB of RAM for 16 GB?   Is RAM welded in, or is it replaceable?  I heard that HP is very difficult to spend at home, this is true even with desktop computers?

You are welcome!

Yes, you can upgrade the memory.  There are two locations of memory on the motherboard.  This is the page for Specifications of the motherboard of the computer.

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

  • Pavilion 15-ab057nr: How can I change for one SSD HARD drive and update my RAM?

Hi, I would like to change the hard drive of my computer (Pavilion 15-ab057nr) for one ssd and also add another module of RAM. The problem is that I've never opened a laptop before, and I don't know where to start, or what should I do after I opened the computer. I don't know if anyone could help me by giving me a guide on how to perform these upgrades, every little detail would be useful. Thank you.

    Hi @IYMF,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab057nr and tried to help you! I looked in your question about upgrading the internal hardware. I understand that you are looking to upgrade your hard drive to a Solid State Drive, as well as adding another module of RAM.

Here is a link to your Service Manual. You can find the specifications for compatible discs on page 49. Please note that this laptop model doesn't support that type hybrid Solid State Drives.

Maintenance manual, page 55, there will be a list of the size of RAM supported, but also a guide on the replacement of the RAM. Up to 16 GB of RAM may be supported in a 8GB x 2 configuration.

On pages 46 to 50 of your maintenance manual, you will find instructions on how to remove the rear panel of the laptop, as well as, instructions on the removal of the original hard drive.

I also found this Vidéo Guide giving visual aid on the replacement of the hard disk. The model of laptop in the video is not exactly the same as the model that you have, but it can provide assistance, however.

Please let me know how it goes.

  • Pavilion dv7 2120 ev: SSD HARD drive

    Hello

    I have a 2120ev dv7 with 500 GB Serial ATA-150 - 5400 RPM laptop and I want to update to SSDS.

    Is this possible?

If so, what SSD are compatible?  Could I use SSD SATA2 or SATA3?

    Thank you

Yes, you can install a 2.5-inch SATA SSD instead of HARD drive. A simple procedure to install and many options of migration/copying of software. Your system is SATA 2, but the latest SATA 3 SSD will be "downclock" to work properly on your system and the speed increase is always amazing. Very little real difference in normal use between 2 SATA and SATA 3.

You would find a SATA 2 SSD anyway and improvements are being made constantly so that you don't want an older SATA 2 SSD, unless somebody gave it to you. They also tend to be smaller that the cost of the SSDS off the charts not long ago. They are always on the expensive side but do it where everyone can and should have one. Get 250 and preferably at least one concert a concert 500 or 512, which now is about $150 on a good day.

  • PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT: Replacement of the SSD HARD drive and Recovery Options

I have a PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT I went recently to drive HARD original for one SSD of 850 Evo from Samsung using Samsungs cloning/copying software. Everything went well and the PC is in use today. I do not see the partition D: Recovery on this machine more well, so I think this has not copied or was lost. I still have the disk that was replaced.

I was wondering if there is a way to replace HARD drive like this with an SSD and everything by keeping the system recovery feature that was on the HARD disk, and if a set of system recovery disks of before installing SSD would continue to operate, or if I need to create new ones, and if I CAN create new ones.

    rgoodrich

I did what you want to do (for example, to replace a disk with a DDI) and was able to retain the function of HP recovery - but it's because of two important facts.

First of all, I used a DDI with the same capacity as the original HARD disk.  This is important because if you use a smaller SDS, the HP recovery feature will no more work as a reset begins with reformatting the drive and recreate the original scores - which will fail if the disc is too small.

Second, I use Macrium Reflect product to 'clone' the HDD to the DDI, which means, he made an exact copy of the partitions on disk on the SDS.  So, when I swapped drives, the PC restarted without any problem.

People have posted here on the use of the software from Samsung, and they seem to have problems restarting after use and (apparently) with successful copy from disk HARD original in the new SDS.

  • I'm trying to interconnect a XP home and a XP Pro with a Firewire 1394 through a Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus HARD drive cable to share the HARD drive and also run a home network.

Is it possible for me to take the files of XP Home that has installed 1394 controller and use the 4 files that I found marked 1394 in I386 to form the controller on my XP Pro, more driver 1394 in \WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS to close the loop and enable the ethernet connection both 1394 on both computers to have two computers connected to the Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus as well as HARD drive the network. I was hoping maybe even replace the ethernet cable and use the connection 1394 through the Maxtor which has several types of connectors on it.  Again, I am trying to install a controller 1394 on a computer that has no 1394, than USB 2.0. so that the XP Pro machine will recognize the 1394 card with my home XP firewire cable to the Maxtor HDD which it is already connected to the XP Pro via USB 2.0? I have you confused yet?

I found a post of S.W. video dated the 05/01/11, which has been handled by Gokul T and treated with the Firewire cable and video on a newer operating system, so I thought I would test Gokul T or someone else to resolve this situation. I couldn't find a controller IEEE 1394 I could just download and install on my XP Pro machine. These are the two Dell, is an inspiron 5100 with installed 1394 with taking and the GX280 is one without the 1394 controller installed, or the socket.

You will need a firewire to XP Pro card. The drivers are already on the hard drive. Once the card is installed, you will see the icon of the network for this adapter. So you can use it.

The reason why there is no 1394 net adapter on XP Pro is now, because there is no firewire card

  • Windows 10 will change my current setup of the operating system on files on the SSD HARD drive and program/user?

Way back when I upgraded my main drive to a SSD, I used the following to put all the files of program/user on my HARD drive.  My questions are:

    1. What are replaced to the default settings?

    2. If so, what measures are needed to reach my current setup?

    d:\Users d:\ProgramData

I would advise against using a script that in the beginning, because some people have had the tough get windows to read files that are not where they are supposed to be.

For applications and other personal files, 10 Windows offers a similar feature in the settings.

Program files (and the similar system attributes) should probably be intact until the symbolic links (which redirect Windows when he tries to find the file) running again. The application of this article did not work because Windows 7 was new, and equivalents of the command prompt (how I got to this topic) do not work.

    http://www.PCAdvisor.co.UK/how-to/Windows/how-install-software-second-hard-drive-move-program-files-folder-in-Windows-3500581/

If you go for an upgrade, instead of a clean install, I would consider coming back from these changes to avoid damage or errors during the transition.

  • I have installed on my computer the other SSD hard drive and now want to install Photoshop and Lightroom this station and I'm not on the C drive. How the exchanged the installation location when you use your creative cloud in your program.

Heinonen Petri dish that you can customize the installation location in the preferences for the desktop creative cloud application.  Please be aware that the creative Cloud desktop application and many still shared components must be installed on the primary disk that contains the operating system.

For more details on how to customize the installation location please see CC help | Download, install, update or uninstall applications.

  • Create a USB bootable Windows 8 (pre-installed on my Samsung series 7), to exchange the SSD HARD drive and re - install.

I would prefer to do a clean install rather than just creating an ISO.  In my opinion, this should be quite simple. normal procedure, but more I'm looking more confused, I am about this.  I really wish that Windows would stop doing things to make my life more difficult.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

For Samsung: Press the F4 key to the Samsung logo when you turn first.

This should provide the ability to create a recovery media backup on USB or DVD

You should be able to also access through the following measures:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on problems to do a restore by using the disks and wanted to help.

I know this may sound weird, but at the time of Win7, I would have problems installation or upgrade of PC, if there is too much memory system.  So, what I would say, it's to put the old memory and see if that makes a difference.  I know it shouldn't, but it could.

    Good luck

    Hello

I was eager to build a new computer and was hoping to use the hard drive and the optical drive from the Hp Pavilion 500-164 to reduce their costs. I'm confused as to how to remove the optical drive, because I removed the two screws on the left and don't know how to get to the other side as it wouldn't come out. • Pavilion dv6600ev: I would like to replace the HARD drive and the RAM in my HP laptop. I want to check compatibility

Hello guys. I would like to replace the HARD drive and the RAM in my HP laptop. I would check the compatibility. For the momemt, I have 2 x 512 MB of RAM and a 160 GB HARD drive. Does anyone know the type of RAM (DDR1 or DDR2 most) and the accepted maximum capacity. Also the SATA port is a SATA I? Besides, I'm going to change the operating system (preferably in Win 7) so is there a driver?

You can install DDR2-800 modules and they are the most widely available at this point, but the memory will run at 667 mhz speed.
