Pavilion 6643 Start Up.

I got a Pavilion 6643 my sister to use as a base for a cemetery map creator.

When I plug it, it starts to download, but only for a few seconds, then it stops & I'm only able to start again after I UN plug it and plug it back to the back of the tower.  I checked all the connections that I can find, (make sure they are a tight fit to the motherboard & connections I can think)

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them so that I can get this & will, & embark on the creation of the directory.

Thanks in advance,

RJ

You can start safe mode (press F8 during boot)?

If Yes, go to the Manager of device and hit to see if the devices are in yellow.

    Hello

The error code is different from the first, it is still a short drive self test failed and confirms that the drive must be replaced.

A brief overview of how to replace the hard drive is detailed below.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 53 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

  • Pavilion unable start G6

Hello, I own a Pavilion G6 2288-ca. Last night, brought my computer in a public area, then someone the reversed and he landed on a soft carpet, but now when I turned it on, it didn't work, can you please help me? I'm stuck on the boot screen

    Hello

First of all, if the data on the disc are very important, by far your best chance to recover is to solicit the services of a company that specializes in data recovery, but it is a fairly expensive road.

Other possible options are the following.

    1. A possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files. Note: you'll need Devil Secure Boot and allow devices inherited into your menu of the bios to boot from the disc.

    1. Another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

To reinstall Windows 8 on your laptop, here are a few options.

    1. You can order a set of replacement of the recovery media using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    1. Download the file to Image of Windows 8 on the following link - Note that this Image file is subject to a ceiling of download, you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts correctly.

  • Pavilion p6214y starts... less than one year old

I have a Pavilion p6214y that I bought last November.  I recently bought a Wireless N network card D-Link PCI Express desktop computer and installed.  I managed to do it start and run perfectly, shortly after installation.  Suddenly, the monitor became all white and the computer was completely inadmissible.  I held the power button to turn off so I could reboot.  When I tried to reboot, the fans and lights that all will turn on, but there is nothing on the monitor.  This will be repeated for a few seconds (maybe 20 or more) and then closed for about 5 seconds and repeat.  I cannot even hold down the power button as he tries to restart to turn it off and must resort to unplug for a few seconds that it is inactive.  I checked on the motherboard and other components and see no signs of Burnout.  There was a little dust on the inside, so I carefully cleaned it as best I could.  I'm at a total loss for what is the problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your PC must be covered by the warranty.  It's time to contact the HP Support,

HP support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

I read the support documents and tried the hard reset twice.  Unplugged the machine and took off the battery.

The fan turns on and stays on; the caps lock led flashes blue. the power button is blue.

I don't have a monitor to test the screen/graphics card, but I don't think that's the problem.  I HEAR the hard drive being accessible if the computer was actually start the system, right?

I also tried 'Testing for hardware failure' but that no longer works.

Decide for yourself after you have identified the cause of the problem. If it's just a matter of cable, I think it's worth repair. Otherwise, I have no idea, maybe it'd cost you big.

Give it to get it repaired in a good local computer shop.

    This could be the cause?

How this should be dealt with?

Is there some updates that aren't installed properly, and if so this could affect the security of the computer?

  • HP Pavilion a1730n starting problems

I have Vista, I bought my computer two years ago (February 2007).  My computer does not start successfully upward.  My son bought an external hard drive, and apparently he was asked, "do you want to overwrite the boot sector?" he said yes.  It has also installed Linux on his external hard drive, because he wanted to use Linux everywhere where it can take his hard drive.  After the transfer of the data, he pulled his drive and turn off the computer.  When we tried to turn on the computer (without its hard drive is plugged in), what the computer could do on its own give us a text message BACK saying:

Windows did not start because of a configuration of the disk of the computer problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check the hardware path and startup disk.
Please check the Windows documentation about the configuration of disk material and your reference manuals of the equipment for more information.

I tried to plug his drive external back in and restart.  The mistake of text BACK we got was:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged.
    Windows root\system32\hal.dll.

I rebooted, you press ESC to get to the boot menu and tried to boot directly from the external hard drive.  It did not work.  I used a Linux disk, my son had and was able to start with it and see my files.  We have registered important files on the external hard drive to my son.  I put in my recovery disc and tried (to disk and then from the hard drive) repair the hard drive.  He told me that he could not fix it (twice).  I tried to use the restore disc to go back to a restore point.  He told me that there is no restore point.  I also tried selecting "last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that work)" in the Options Menu advanced (repeatedly pressing F8 at startup to get this menu).  It also did not work.  When I ran my program of recovery from my hard drive, I could choose HP Recovery or Vista Home Premium (recovered).  I chose HP Recovery to repair and restore attempts.  After these failures, I chose Vista Home Premium (recovered) and my computer was able to load my desktop, settings, and files successfully.  To start and use my computer as I always have, I have to use my recovery disc and go to the back door (so to speak).  I think I need to restore the master boot record, but nothing seems to be me getting there.  I may have to use BCDEdit, but I do not know what commands to enter at the DOS command prompt.  Suggestions?

    Try this .

Be aware that if your son likes to play with dual-booting, you should probably buy him a pc to play with or you will find yourself in the same situation again.

I took out the battery today, twice and it powered on and it still showed the loading screen saying Windows is preparing. Please, please help!

    @Cheen7 ,

Hello again.  Well at this point you have nothing to lose.

First ring diagnostics from the BIOS for your system.  If it comes with hard disk problems, then replace the hard drive.

If this isn't the case, perform a full recovery of the system and this will load everything back to the original configuration.

Laptops HP - diagnostic system (F2)

    PC HP hardware diagnostics

So, as I said, run diagnostics and if they go up all clear then do the system recovery.

Performing a recovery of HP (Windows 8) system

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.
