Pavilion a6220n: updated my BIOS after Windows 7 is already installed

Hello.

I bought an a6220n Pavilion in 2008 because he was very progressive.  In 2010, I updated the video card with an ATI Radeon 4770 and upgraded to 4 GB of RAM.

Recently, I backed up all my stuff and restored the computer to factory settings.  I installed 8 GB of RAM. Then I started Windows 7-64 bits of an installation disc.

So now Windows 7-64 bit is up and running.  I think so.  Internet seems to be very slow.   It recognizes the 8 GB of RAM and video card, video card driver, and other system drivers are up to date.

I want to spend my CPU to a Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 Ghz, but in order to do this, I'll probably have to update my BIOS.   But when I try to update my BIOS Installer tells me this:

While this means?  I need to restore to Windows Vista, upgrade the BIOS and then install on Windows 7?

Or is the BIOS of Windows 7-compatible Windows Vista?  If this is not the case, where can I get the version of Windows 7?

Jj3down, welcome to the forum.

You can only update the BIOS to the operating system that came with the computer.  In your case, Vista.  This means that you need to perform a system recovery to return the computer to its original configuration.

My second and more important question is what version of bios should I install if I now use WINDOWS 7 32 bit?

    Hello

    > My first question is what this means? If I have OS Toshiba idependent 2.0 BIOS will not install Vista?
You should be able to install Vista using BISO 2.0 but maybe your laptop will generate some questions
So you need to update the BIOS to 5, 40 - WIN version if you want to use Vista OS.

If you want to use Win 7 on your laptop then you must first install the Win 7 OS and then you should check out how Windows 7 is running

  • E531 update the Bios with WIndows 10 installed?

Is it possible to update the BIOS with 10 Windows installed on E531?

    I don't see W7, W8, and XP

Yet once, have solved this problem, I thought I would share with others who may have the same or similar issues.

I was able to update the BIOS on my Windows 10 install with upgrade download BIOS in Windows 8. Simply install as you normally would, and be patient for the machine to install. Installation BIOS itself is a little funky; I saw the screen go completely white for a while without message about progress or anything like that. But ultimately it ends and works well.

  • If I bought a computer with windows 8 is already installed (windows 8 sucks) can I uninstall it and install windows 7

If I bought a computer with windows 8 is already installed (windows 8 sucks) can I uninstall it and install windows 7? Windows 8 has to be the worst software ever. It is like going back to the iceage of computers. The LAGS and timing on is horrible. I expect right cruse, that she does not exist. It's like a person driving a car with their foot constantly on the brake.

You will first need to go to the website of manufacturers for your model computer and first find out if there are native drivers in Windows 7. A large number of computers that are preloaded with Windows 8 have no native driver support for Windows 7 by the manufacturer. If there is no native driver, you will need to consider returning the machine and buying a machine preloaded with Windows 8 Pro with downgrade rights to Windows 7 Professional. Or look through the catalogue of manufacturers for systems already preloaded with Windows 7, usually the business sector will have these options.

When you upgrade to 8.1 Windows it will replace your Windows 8.0. The only way I know to have both is to buy a copy of Windows 8.1 and install on another partition or drive.  Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • Update the BIOS and Windows Update problem

    Hello

I have a Pavilion laptop g7-2017us running Windows 7 Enterprise. October 18,2012, HP maintenance program informed me that he had to update my BIOS. HP maintenance program had not updated of the BIOS.  See my BIOS is F.08 (dated 03/05/12).  Manually, I been looking for the latest BIOS and found that it was identical to what is installed on my computer.  It seems that software of diagnosis of HP gave me false alarms.

Question #2: I periodically install updates to Windows.  I saw my story updates and found 2 failed: one who is 'recommended' and the other 'Important '.  I looked at the error code and they are all two "80004004. I did google search and learned this is very serious problem b/c Windows is damaged.  I tried using Microsoft 'Fix It', but it doesn't seem to help.  Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

    Thank you

  • How can I update the BIOS without windows on V3 - 372

I bought an ACER V3-372-57CW and refuses the computer at startup (the Green ACER splash screen at boot EFI appear same) when my Tablet WACOM Intuos 4 (if not fully functional) is inserted any USB port. Customer service Acer not recognize wanted to nor register the question so my last hope is that a BIOS update will solve the problem.

I'm used to the manufacturers supplying utilities executable flash BACK running under FreeDOS etc but for the Acer V3 - 372, I can only find an executable for Windows 10. Of course, uninstalling the entire system just for the update of the BIOS is not a viable option.

Is it possible to get either one executable for the update of the BIOS BACK or something that could be used from within Linux (with EFI)?

    Thank you

    Masquilier,

At the present time, I have installed on my Windows computer.  If someone were to tell me that I needed to install another operating system to update the BIOS, I don't think it was a big deal.  I would like to...

    1. create a system with the Windows image backup

2 clean the clean disk with 'diskpart '.

    3. install any OS they told me that I had to install.

    4. update of the BIOS

    5. after updating the BIOS, I would just wipe the drive with diskpart and restore my Windows system image.

    6. it would take me less than 45 minutes to accomplish steps 1 through 5.  Probably about 30 minutes to be honest.

Use my logic.  Except that I'm not a Linux expert and don't know how to do what I tell you with Linux.  Just google it.  I see that some people use clonezilla, but I don't know there is a command to do the same.

Important note: own Diskpart is priceless, if you n-front-rear of switching between the old modes and UEFI... or deleting partitions... or clean installation of an OS.  However, make sure that you don't accidentally wipe the bad drive (drive).  Be careful.  There is step-overs.

  • Desktop HP HPE h9-1150 Phoenix: can you do a update the BIOS of Windows 8 while on a Windows 10 operating system?

As indicated in the title, you can do a BIOS in Windows 8 update while on a Windows 10 operating system?

I have a Phoenix desktop h9-1150 and am trying to install a new GPU GTX970. There is no updated BIOS for Windows 10 at this time, but there is an update of my current BIOS 7.07 for Windows 8 OS. Can I do that Windows 8 updated safely?

Normally the flasher will check to verify the operating system, but I can't on this one.  It does not separate out ROM file, even if it does not check if the operating system you can always extract the file BIOS and flash BACK.  I would try it first in windows.  It will tell you if there is a control in place.

  • Can Equium P200 (PSB5E) - I update the BIOS on Windows 7?

    Hello.

My question is: how to upgrade the BIOS under Windows 7? My Bios version is 1.70, I've seen, this version 2.50 is available for download, but only under Vista.

    Can it run Windows 7?

    Hello

    First question;
Why do you update the BIOS?
    Is the reason for this?
If the laptop runs successfully a BIOS update is not necessary!

    Now back to the issue of BIOS;
Some laptops have special need BIOS for Win XP or Vista.
So if you are using XP or Vista, then you must use the BIOS that was designed for one of these windows systems on the European driver Toshiba page you can see a column of OS that provides the info for what BIOS OS is designed.

But in most cases, the BIOS is OS independent, which means that you can use it in any Windows operating system.

Simply said; If the BIOS is available for Vista, then you can only use it with Vista.
If it s independent OS, you can use it with Win 7, Vista or XP

  • Update the Bios with Windows 7

I have a compaq presario sr2173wm.  He came originally with windows vista.  I've upgraded to windows 7.  Now, I would like to update my bios.  My problem is that the update of the HP bios has my computer does not work with windows 7.  Anyone have any ideas

If you're having no problems, it is not really any reason to upgrade a BIOS.  And update BIOS of HP programs only work on plant operating systems (unfortunately), so without hacking of the installer, you will not be able to install the BIOS update unless you are on a computer using a BIOS from HP HP and the factory operating system.  I'm sorry.  But, in a nutshell, a previous post that said better; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  You have problems with the normal operation of your computer?

  • HP Pavilion ze4936ea: update the BIOS.

    I have a HP Pavilion ze4936ea (PN624EA #ABU) is all about 2005.
The BIOS revision was F.15 and I downloaded sp31140.exe to e.16.
    I don't have what I had when I upgraded to e.16.

I tried to update the BIOS because it indicates by error that there is a floppy drive or a USB Flash drive at startup. But it is not a Floppy drive in the ze4936ea and I had a program on USB I tried to start from! The program BIOS F.15 erred. As well as the program e.16 BIOS, which also indicates a floppy drive, but no USB Flash drive in the laptop.

    What's not here?
Can I get a BIOS program that allows me to boot from a USB Flash drive?

The system BIOS has not the ability to boot through USB devices. I suggest that you create a bootable CD with the utility you have on the USB flash drive.  Here is a link that allows you to create a startup disk:

You will only have the four boot options following for your system:

  • Satellite Pro A120: Need to update the BIOS after upgrade CPU

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 and I need to update the bios of a change in cpu cause.
The laptop works very well, but for some reason any with the new processor fan runs always full.

A lot, I searched but found nothing.
The model number is PSAC1E-0QL04CG3 of ideas where I can find the bios?

    THX in advance,
    John

    Hello

First of all: update BIOS doesn t help you.
Why do you think that BIOS update should help reduce the activity of fan?

I guess that your new processor is faster. Right?
So it offers more performance and this leads to higher heat dissipation... so finally the CPU must be cooled and this can be done only if the cooling module would turn faster you agree with me?

By the way: the update of the BIOS is on the page of the Toshiba UE driver. Since the satellite Pro A120 is very old series, you will need to search for drivers in area Archive (Type of product-> Archive)

You will probably need to update the BIOS before installing Vista on the laptop.
Then, you could install Vista again.
