Pavilion a6536de: SSD update of my pavilion a6536de

Hi, I upgraded my desktop pavilion a6536de (ASUS M2N68 - Rev.3.02 Council, name of HP: Narra3-GLBE) with an SSD. But the Board of Directors/Bios do not support AHCI Mode. Is there a BIOS or update driver, as I'm enjoying my new SSD? I can't find a BIOS update or update need driver on your driver support page. Thank you for the help

HP has their motherboards manufactured to their specifications.  So, no updates to the BIOS of detail from other manufacturers will not work.

Their policy is to provide BIOS updates when there are a lot of problems with some model.  However, to develop a BIOS update for all the new components that are introduced every day would be a nightmare.  It is a process very involved to update a BIOS or any driver.

SSD upgrade will improve the time of startup and overall performance drastically than anything else. SSD boot drive is an excellent choice. Use tools of cloning the SSD manufacturer (from their website) or other free tools available, to migrate the OS.

Download, run this tool to know the SATA HDD type:
    https://www.Piriform.com/Speccy

SSD now on the market is of SATA3 (6Gbps), it'll work in your laptop your model SATA connector to be I, II or III. They are compatible with reverse.

  • HP Pavilion 15 not: SSD update for HP Pavilion 15 laptop

    Hello!

I use PC HP Pavilion 15 Notebok (F6C42PA #ACJ). It came with Win 8.1 pre-installed on a 1 TB HARD drive. I updated the OS to win 10 and now upgrade my HDD to SSD. I was wondering if TS256GSSD370S Transcend and Samsung Evo 850 is compatible with my laptop. Also how to enable AHCI mode? I don't see such an option in the BIOS.

    Thank you.

15 - n203tx is the model. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The compartment access hard drive appears on p. 59. As you can see, it's a bit more involved.

Don't fall into the trap of overthink. The laptop is in ahci mode and you can not set otherwise. With Windows 10 an SSD will be automatically recognized as such and optimized. Your question only real tech is to get the software on the new SSD. After the back if you need some help with that.

The Samsung Evo 850 is my choice, but the Transcend would work too.

  • HP Pavilion 15-au006tx: HP Pavilion au006tx-15 m2 SSD update possible?

    Hello guys,.

I plan to buy the HP Pavilion 15-au006tx. Wanted to know if it has a m2 Slot to add a SSD Boot?

    -Jenson

We get this question a lot of things and right now I can't anyone buying a HP laptop with the idea of adding a player m2 to him when he does not comes with a counselor. There are a few long discussions here, which seems to have concluded that on some models the M.2 port is disabled in the BIOS, and another showed that a model that shows a m2 slot in the Service Manual actually has such without crack.

    See p. 34 of repair:

    Manual

According to this manual that you can have a WSSD m2 or a hard drive because it refers to a jury of DSS and cable. It is also clear that if you can use a WSSD m2, you are limited to the SATA variety, which has no advantage of speed on a 2.5 not inches SATA SSD. I would buy it, because the specifications are very good and redeem the 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD 1 TB SATA III SSD drive and so 1 TB is not enough storage to you consider putting the 1 TB HARD drive in a caddy optical. Who uses our days DVD player, anyway?

Any form factor of 2.5 in SATA SSD will work and I recommend a Samsung Evo 850.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147372&cm_re=Samsung_850_Evo-_-20-147-372-_-product

There is a link for all sizes available on the page. I recommend that at least a 256 and 500 are quite affordable nowadays.

Where do you live? Country only, please. I heard that HP Service centers will perform memory and SSD upgrades on these 'closed' systems but I don't know where all of them or what they would charge. You should be able to find a competent local computer shop to do. It does not put security at risk, but the warranty is not revoked if the work is done properly, without damage to the laptop.

  • SSD update for HP Pavilion dv8338ea.

    Hi HP'ers!

Searched around with no luck. My father upgraded his laptop with an SSD, but I'm not sure if it's a PATA or SATA.

Although I can't find any information about the specs on the machine, the section of the driver revealed he want to "Intel Matrix Storage Manager", which, according to the text, is «...» Intel Serial ATA (SATA)... »

Also (assuming that its SATA) it would work with a 250SSD? Or the size will give problems with the bios etc.?

    Thanks guys = D

The dv8000 series began to have PATA drives, but at one point in the production, they began to install SATA drives. This can actually take 2 hard drives, like the dv9000 series later. The way to know if it's PATA or SATA is to open drive Bay. This is the original SATA (SATA I) but the most recent disks SATA-III will be downclock. There is also a BIOS upgrade that allows him to take Core2 Duo processor and I think also improves some other hardware features and may allow 4 GB of RAM.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-54801-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=228&product=1832444&sw_lang=

You must install this update of the BIOS in Windows XP or Vista... it does not work well if you have installed Windows 7.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual presents the PATA drives. Look on Page 5-8. PATA drives have two rows of pins in brass, as shown in the manual. SATA drives have two black plastic L shaped plugs.

There is such a thing as a PATA SSD, but they cost a bit more per concert. HP never sold a lot of the dv8000 the information available here is a little sparse. They are very strong and robust machines however, and I still sometimes run through a service. With the GeForce Go 7600 graphics, it can easily run Windows 7 or 8 with active Aero.

If you plan to install it yourself, I recommend to read the service manual and review procedures necessary to access the drive.

  • HP Pavilion a6519f: SSD update for HP Pavilion a6519f

I would like to install an ssd in this pc along side hard drive, but when I went to Best Buy and told the seller that I wanted to do and was asked what brand and how old my pc had I said that it was old and not worth it I'd be better off with a new pc. I want to know if this is true or not, since I did some research and saw the old pc with an installed ssd works like new.

    You are the very welcome.

Which is great news, your PC has a setting to AHCI controller.

Make sure that it is set to that before installing the SSD.

If you get an SSD that is large enough, you may be able to clone the hard disk, but if the speed control is set for what else the AHCI on your current drive, the cloned SSD does not start.

I clean all the operating systems installed on my SSD.

With 10 windows that it was easy to install from scratch because you don't need a key product once you had installed W10 previously and it has been activated.  Just click on the option "I don't have a product key" at the beginning of the script install W10.

So I just add the programs and files that I needed.  A took about 2-3 hours for each PC.

  • Satellite R630-155 - fan is too loud and SSD update

I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite R630-155 (Core i5-480). My problems are:

    1. the fan is too loud and never stops. In normal operation (navigation and General Office work) there is a constant high pitch noise which is audible three to four meters in a desktop - high load environment, you just can't take it anymore! The fan never stops... even when you do nothing...

    2. the heat is a big problem. The bottom of the laptop is overheated constantly and I have to place on my desk so that the lower left corner is outside the table, so it can breathe fresh air from below - otherwise, the temperature rises and the (noisy) fan is unable to follow. When I work with the laptop sitting on a couch, I place a thick book between the laptop and my legs. The book must be thick (more than one inch) with hard covers, otherwise the heat going through the book!

    3. last (but not least, I will mention the biggest problems here) that's the problem with the installation of the SSD. I bought a used Corsair F80 (80 GB SSD) from a friend, but I was unable to use it with the Toshiba - BIOS not detect the disc. I tried to install all the latest updates for portable and SSDS but I had no success. Then I put the disc and I bought a brand new Zalman 128 GB SSD (SSD0128N1 Sandforce) but I had exactly the same problem. I contacted my local support Toshiba and after much conversation, the only answer I got is that the laptop is not compatible with these SSDS, and it is acceptable by Toshiba and not their problem. They told me that if I need an SSD upgrade I cannot go for the Toshiba SSD that is installed on the portege series, which is sold by Toshiba for a ridiculously expensive price - about $500 for 128 GB. I contacted the European support center and I got the same exact answer. I searched the Internet and found someone else with exactly the same problem with a Corsair 128 GB SSD - he concluded that the laptop detects the SSD after ten to twenty resets. I tried and it was true - after a lot of restarts the detected disk Zalman laptop and I was able to successfully install Windows 7, but the process is unacceptable. Also the drive is rated by the sites official at the speed of an OCZ Vertex 2 128 GB (and a little better), but when I ran a cue point in the Toshiba, the results I got were less than half of the advertised speed. Same reference in another machine of the same disc, resulted in the announced speeds.

Shame for Toshiba...-beautiful design and portability, but all the rest is a big flaw. Their support in non-existent and they do not appreciate their customers. According to me, they stole my money and I will never buy a Toshiba laptop again.

Sorry for the big message, but I need, I warn potential customers. Can anyone help me with any of these problems? You also have the same problems?

    To follow...

    Hey Buddy,

With regard to the issue of fan and the heat: you did it BIOS update? A friend told Satellite R630 too and he told me that the fan with the new BIOS version 2.10 activity is reduced. In addition, the laptop is colder than before so I recommend to install this update. You can download the update of the BIOS here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But before you start the update of the BIOS, you should consider the following tips:
-Run update as an administrator only
-Unzip all files from zip archive before launching the update file
-Close all running programs as the antivirus and firewall
-Make sure the battery is fully charged

With regard to the SSD it s still a little complicated to install 3rd party products and no one can guarantee that these parts would not work. You're always on the side safely with original spare parts from Toshiba.

All you can do is to install the new firmware for SSDS and hope that it works, but who knows maybe the BIOS update will help you also in this case ;)

  • Panic the kernel constant after the SSD update, what do I do?

I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13 inch El Capitan running. I updated to the memory of 4 GB to 8 GB last year and recently updated to a Sandisk 240 GB SSD HARD drive. Not sure if it would be a cause of the panic of the kernel, but I have Microsoft OneDrive starts with the computer. Even after disabling this as a point of connection, however, the problem persisted. Maybe I should uninstall all together?

  • HP probook 430 g1 with a SSD update

    Hi all.

I'll be updating my HP Probook 430 G1 with a 512 GB SSD (in fact is 512 HDD with W7 64 professional); Web sites of many factory SSD show the compatibility of their products with my laptop, but Manual HP said that the capacity of the SSD is 128 GB. The cat with the HP support was not helpful. Can someone help me: can I put with 512 gB SDD? I put divers or chipset to AHCI storage level?

    Thank you

The 128 GB 2.5 inch SSD was just the biggest HP offered to sell the plant. If your laptop has a 2.5-inch SATA drive (some of them operate entirely off small mSATA WSSD readers) then you can replace it with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD of any size on the market. You will not have to pay anything in the BIOS. Your best way to upgrade is to clone the existing for the SSD drive. This should be easy, because they will be very close to the same size. You will need an adapter usb to SATA, but you probably want to get an ayway to continue using the HARD original as external storage drive.

I use Acronis 2014 Home Edition, but there are several other cloning there, some of them open-source (free). Windows 7 cloning on 2 hard drives of the same size is on the clone easier you will find.

  • W530 Intel SSD update?

I was curious to know if the current edition of 180 GB Intel 520 a firmwear the updated? Mine seems to be lagging behind increadbily and producing errors on the new operating system windows 8 PRO.

If Intel recommends not to use their firmware update for the 520 series SSD because it's exclusive for Lenovo OEM, I would hold off. What I can tell you, is that Lenovo does not currently have an update of the firmware for the HARD drive on the driver matrix, so it seems no other updates are available for you at this time. Of course, you can always follow the driver/Firmware updates by reviewing the matrix driver for your machine at any time.
