Pavilion dm4: cannot install windows on my laptop

I had trouble installing a hard drive in my laptop.  The laptop is a Pavilion Dm4.  Below are the steps I've tried initially.

1. insertion of my hard drive with Windows 7 installed and works very well in the Pavilion dm4.

RESULT: computer crashed just after that the windows image came.

2 reformat the hard disk by performing a clean install of Windows 7.

RESULT: Once installation is complete my Windows installation fails and I get a message saying "Windows is unable to complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, run the Setup again. »

3 reinstall using the system recovery disk that I just bought HP using the code series of laptops.

RESULT: After inserting the recovery disks and the driver installation disk, I get a message

P2PP Burn Boot Check failed

Possible causes

1.yellow - bang occurred in Device Manager

2. some silent-installation failure of applications

3 Found failed to PININST_BBV

4 Found failed to PININST_BBV2

5 found memory dump file

Suggestions:

1. check REGDEV_BB. Drivers LOG

2. check the BBApps. Application log

3. check the memory dump file

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook and P2PP Burnboot could not install. I have seen that date back to 2012 first of all, and then by a default BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. In this way, it will look at the hardware installed on your laptop. Restore factory default BIOS works on it.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Please let me know how it goes.

No hardware changes or software recently made to the system: I followed the usual procedure to install Windows updates.

    Method of connection: wireless

    Technical expertise: intermediate level

Performed troubleshooting: because the error # 80071 A 90 type indicated by the system, I followed the instructions of Windows Help and Support, for example to run Microsoft Fix it which did not work; a more advanced method has also been used, who recommended to start Windows Update in Mode safe, then open Windows Update and install the updates and then restart normally. At this point, the problem was that any stage of Windows Update was available.

    Hello amib004,

As much as I know, only Windows Update cannot be run in safe mode. That being said, I saw where install several updates may conflict with each other. Try to disable all updates installation and install the updates failed one at a time.

    Hi @maaply.

    Thank you for your response.

If you are upgrading from Windows 7 or 8 the Windows key will automatically be picked up and installed. When you activate your Windows 10 it will record the product key.  If you have purchased a Windows 10 disk should have the product key. Did you create recovery media when you first set up your laptop?

Before using the Windows disc, please try to restore the defaults in the bios and make a recovery. I hope than that you will get to the top and running and the retail disc will be not necessary. (Maybe you can return)

Here are links to help you in this process.

HP Notebook PC - restore BIOS

Computers HP - perform a recovery of the system (Windows 10) HP.

Once you have restored your laptop back to factory settings, if you have not created a recovery before media, now would be a good time. The recovery media will allow you to reinstall the operating system and the original software if you have a problem with the Recovery Manager.  If you still have a problem, please contact HP support for assistance in the recovery process. You must be under warranty as you said that you bought this a couple of months. Please contact HP to Contact HP Supportassistance.

Please let me know the results.

    Hello

Here is another solution, you can try to see if you can get Windows 7 to install correctly.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

  • Cannot install windows XP on the Satellite Pro A200-1N2

    Jin

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1N2 PSAE3E and I don't want Vista on my laptop. I downgraded the bios to V5.30 but still cannot install windows xp and there is still no optin for SATA in the bios.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Did you install the SATA drivers first?
You need this driver to recognize the HARD drive!

You must download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You should find it on the page of the Toshiba driver or the Intel Web site.

You must perform the installation of an external USB FDD drive using the F6 key during the installation of Win XP.

    Hello

I see that you have a problem in the installation of new Windows USB port. It seems that your HDD was not detected, right? It's because your laptop uses a SATA HDD.

what you need to do are:

    1. download the driver AHCI SATA website of intel. (just google it)

    2. copy the files (size 700 KB for 6 files) into the new USB

    3. reboot and install your laptop with win 7 (dvd/usb)

    4. by the time win 7 installation reached the drive to install (none detected), click load drivers.

    5. now load your other USB SATA drivers.

    6. then will show all disks in your system.

    7. continue with the installation process.

    hope this helps.

    [Personal information]

My request is: how to install Windows 7?

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source (Digital River).

    I'm really frastrated

    Hi Nnrmalata,

    1. you are trying to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7?

    2. What is the brand and model of your computer?

Boot from GPT is only supported for 64-bit of Windows 7 on UEFI-based systems.

For more details, refer to this link:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/hardware/gg463525.aspx

If your computer does not support UEFI, back up your important data to an external drive and delete all partitions on hard drives and create a new partition.

    (a) start from the Windows 7 DVD

    (b) click on install now

    (c) in the configuration screen, click Custom (Advanced)

    (d) click on drive Options

    (e) select the partitions to format

    (f) click on Format - this will erase EVERYTHING on this partition

    (g) create a new partition, and then select a partition to install Windows on.

    (h) follow the on-screen instructions and install Windows.

Note: Converting a hard disk partition or volume from NTFS to FAT32 requires that you reformat the partition, which deletes all the data on this subject. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.

You can check the link for reference:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd799232 (WS.10) .aspx

Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If above did not help, please refer to the steps in this link.

Note: Backup your important data to an external drive

Change a Table of Partition GUID drive on a main boot drive

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

Go into the BIOS (F1 at startup), set the "compatible" SATA mode (NO AHCI), then press F10 to save and exit, and you should be all set.
