Pavilion dv2-1030ea, upgrading to N Wireless - do blacklist photo hp certain wireless mini pci-e cards?

Hi, I just got a pavilion dv2-1030ea as a gift and I want to upgrade the card wireless to a version N (only comes with B and G compatible card), but on some sites, he pointed out that not all wireless mini pci-e cards do work with computers laptops hp.

is this always true? If so what cards are supported? also if this is the case how can I remove this restriction? IMHO, I should be able to use my computer as I see fit, not how the manufacturer decides is acceptable.

Thanks in advance for any info

Harry

    Hello

You write on your laptop. Maybe your laptop isn't ready to install a minPCI wireless network card.
But if it of possible to install so generally the slot card WLan should be placed at the bottom of the unit or under the keyboard.

Then there must be the card only into the slot and then connect the two WLan antenna cables. As far as I know to connect the white cable to the hand and Brown to the auxiliary voltage

Sometimes the Toshiba ASP should install the WLan card because of the validity of the guarantee.

  • Startup gets "Network cable unplugged" on (new) wireless mini-PCI card

Repost in the previous topic was locked, but has not been resolved. Original post below, please see previous post for more details

I recently installed a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and now have intermittent problems connecting my Tecra 9100. If the 9100 has been off for awhile (like overnight), when I restart I get always "Network cable unplugged" for the wireless connection. Reboot several times (anything from 3 upwards) I finally get connected to the router and everything then works fine for hours. Even a quick restart at this point (that is, once that the wireless adapter is connected) does not cause a problem, but as soon as I leave the stop of the machine during a time he fails again on restart.

There are no errors in the event log.

I am using wireless mini-PCI cards and have already updated to the latest version of the driver.

Any ideas gratefully received, for now every morning is a 20 to 30 minutes of rebooting frustration trying to get my connection work.

    Hello

I have the same problem if I stand for laptop and access point at the same time. If the access point is already in use, the connection is established shortly after. First the access point must establish a connection to the modem. Now the wireless connection is not available.

I guess after the second reboot, the connection between the AP and the modem is already finished and you can use the network wireless successfully.

  • Card wireless Mini PCI for Satellite Pro has 10

Someone at - it successfully installed the Toshiba PA3300U-1MPC or any other in Satellite Pro A10 (model PSA15E-01PJY) wireless Mini PCI card? This model already has the internal antenna, the switch and the LED
    mounted.

On the site of Toshiba UK accessories compatibility table indicates that the wireless adapter is compatible with the Satellite Pro A10 series. When I called the helpline (0870 444 89440) Toshiba, we said that this wireless card was not compatible with my laptop and have been unable to provide any internal wireless card that was.

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

@ drewlfths: I m not 100% sure where the wireless network card is placed on Satellite Pro M10.
But in my opinion it s under the keyboard. I think the best way is to contact Toshiba service in your country for details.

By the way: the Satellite Pro M10 supports only the standard Wi - Fi: 802. 11B. In this case I n t think you will be able to use a super G standard.

In your case, I prefer to use an external solution such as a Wlan USB key.

  • Pavilion DV2 1030ea - how to turn on hardware virtualization?

Hi, the processor in my new laptop (that I've recently updated win7 for free through the free upgrade offer from HP!), but some software that I use for work only runs under XP so after installing the software "windows XP mode" from microsoft, it tells me that my hardware virtualization is disabled and must be enabled in the bios Unfortunately HP totally paralyze the phoenix bios removing all semblance of configurability and there is no option to turn it on, is what someone found out how?

    any info is much appreciated

    TIA

OK I worked on how to do it myself, for anyone who is interested to do this first download a tool called symcmos.exe, starting back with a diskette of win98 or a freedos prepared the USB (to do and not just a windows command prompt) with symcmos.exe on the same diskette/usbstick and operating the prompt back ,

    symcmos-V2 - Lcmos - output.txt

When it's finished restart in windows and then edit cmos - output.txt and find the line that reads

    (017D) [0000]

    and change it to show

    (017D) [0001]

then save it as cmos - output1.txt on the disk/usbstick

Now restart in dos with the diskette/usbstick drive and run

    symcmos-V2 - Ucmos - output1.txt

Once it's initialization complete in windows and you will find that your hardware virtualization is now activated. Why HP in their wisdom decided to disable parts of the processors capabilities is beyond me! but there is always a way to turn these things lol.

This mode is for a HP DV2-1030ea with F27 bios version. I may be able to help others with different laptop/bios versions so if you want your on virt material just after here

  • Satellite A30 - 303 install wireless mini PCI card internal

    Hello
I am installing a PA3300U (Atheros) mini PCI WiFi internal card and have a basic question that I hope someone will be able to answer. There are two cables, white and black (under the cover of the wireless card on the case) which I suppose are for the internal antenna. The question is where do these attach to on the mini-PCI card (unfortunately I have no instructions for the card mounting)?
I'll be very grateful for any assistance with this.
    Best regards, Dave.

    Hello

I don't actually see one of the Atheros cards, but on other brands, there are two connectors that are marked with the HAND and to THE.
A white cable normally goes to the HAND and a black to the auxiliary voltage

  • ? PRO/Wireless mini PCI card will switch

This question has been posted before, but I have not found a solution

I have installed a PRO mini-PCI card / Wireless 2915ABG in my A30. It is recognized as a card very well, but I can't turn it on. Not with the switch and or the software.

    Any tips?

    Hi rothirgo,

As far as I know Satellite A30 series is built with Atheros and Agere wireless card. This means that Toshiba has been test machines with just these two cards and do not support another manufacturer of the WL card for this machine. If you have the Intel card and good driver, it should work too.

Is in the device, a problem Manager? When your card has been properly installed, go to control panel > network connections. If there is Wireless Network Connection showed that it should be enabled.

If you do this, you can now search for available networks in the wireless network connection properties.

Just one last question. You have wireless on / off switch on the left side of your laptop? What Wireless Card on FN + F8 check if there is an answer.

Please let me know what you have done and are there any error messages.

  • Wireless Mini-PCI card does not work after installing it in socket

I have laptop satellite A30, it has a plug for a mini PCI card.

The problem that I can not power on the wireless?
There is a switch for this perpose on the side of the laptop, but when I change nothing happen!
Also press the Fn with F8 button but nothing is also happening.
I discuss this issue with other friends, they told me that there must be something in the BIOS and activiate/deactiviate the wireless, but I can't find anything related to map wireless in BIOS?
For this I need your help
    Concerning

    Hi guys,.

THX starbucks for the post, but I must correct you:

As the wireless card in the mini-pci card slot is the only one, there is NO onboard wireless card. So it can't be anything to be disabled except the pci socket.
And regarding the problem: perhaps the card is not compatible with this machine. I suggest to buy a card based on the atheros chipset because they are known to work VERY well (in fact they work) in almost all brands without bigger problems and they do in computers laptop toshiba.

If the card was not recognized then another card must be installed-> atheros and not INTEL chipset

    Welcome them

  • Replacement wireless Mini-PCI on PLL10E NB100-12 s

    Greetings from Barcelona!

My question is, if this would be the replacement rate card Wireless miniPCI possible for Wireless-N. I mean if the motherboard support this type of card.

The map in question is (in Spanish):

    Link: [http://www.ciudadwireless.com/ubiquiti_networks_ubiquiti_sr71-e_hi-performance_mimo_wireless_mini_express_atheros_ar9 280-p - 2765.html]

Don't be fooled the image. It has nothing to do with the product.

The drivers are also not a problem because the last Atheros chipset supports also this. No problem for disassembly, is not the first time that I deleted it. I tried to change the hard drive, and I find the card. My question is if the motherboard this card. I want to confirm before buying anything.

    A hug to everyone.

    EDIT: sorry! I have a Toshiba NB-100-12 s PLL10E

    Hello

The mother need card WLan miniPCI.
AFAIK there is no limitation of the motherboard.

But the Draft N needs 3 son antenna the usual 802.11 A, B or G supports 2-wire antenna WLan. So, in my view, this could be a problem.

  • Wireless mini PCI Intel 2200 bg work on Satellite 1410 303

After reading this forum, I decided to try the Intel 2200. I was ready to cover the PIN 11 and 13, as mentioned by many, if necessary.

Be a happy surprise, the map works! even without covering the pins. Be sure to connect the cables properly:

    White-> HAND
    Brown / black-> to THE

The driver on the CD has been installed everything first, using the typical option. Nothing else was installed.

The machine was purchased 3 years ago. Yes, the unit was delivered with the slot at the rear, but empty, with two tiny cables (white/black) inside. However, the switch and the light on the side of the machine do not work.

[Edited by: admin on 22 July 05 18:08]

    Hi bobbao

It's very nice to know that the new Intel wireless card works properly. As you can see, that the antenna cable is properly connected should avoid any problems. Some of the 1410 series come with WLAN and the other units are WLAN ready as your.

I wish you much fun with your oldie ;)

  • Tecra 9100 - W-LAN-Mini-PCI-card upgrade

    Hello everyone,

    I ve got a with the W-LAN-onboard Tecra 9100 working doesn´t.
    Instead of repairing the old W - Lan Mini-PCI-card I want to move to a new standard (802. 11 b / g with 108 Mbit/s max) Mini-PCI card.

I prefer the mini Notebook-WLAN-Gigabyte GN-WIAG02 PCI adapter.

Is it possible to chance the card built into the Gigabyte card?

    Hello

It s nice that you want to upgrade your wireless mini-pci network card. But I suggest you rather a card with an Atheros chipset. The best choice is perhaps a card with a Chipset of Atheros 5005GS since I upgraded my Tecra 9100 with this card and it works like charm. (and not so expensive as other s cards)

To swap the card, you must remove the plastic cover of the keyboard and unscrew the two screws in order to release the keyboard.
After removing the keyboard, you will find an aluminum side cover left which is set with a special torx screws. The best would be to get these torx screwdriver to loosen this bolt and remove the cover.
After removal, you will see the map with the cables that lead to the antenna. (One white and one black) Be very CAREFUL when remove the Connector cables, because if damage you one of the cable connectors there is no return since the cables are cables "Mini-coax" and cannot be "connected."

I warn you, just do it if you're really sure and if you know what you're doing, because I won't take any responsibility if damage you something on your machine. Otherwise, I wish good luck and would appreciate some comments on your success.

    See you soon

  • Satellite P300-23F-mini-PCI Wireless card Replace?

Question: would it be possible to replace the card of wireless mini-PCI Intel 5100AGN with version 4965AGN or 5300AGN?

The thing is, recently I bought the Satellite P300-23F. Great laptop. Apart from one thing. I use the Intel 5100AGN wireless. Type of damage, the rest of the components used to build this laptop are high-end. I would have liked to see the 5300AGN of even the old 4965AGN adapter instead. These are both a bit more expensive, but still on the market for the price difference is a simple slice of $20. The 5100AGN TX is only 150 Mbit, which is half as fast as the two other Intel wireless modules. In general, a lot of people seem to have problems with the 5100AGN, seems to be a troublesome product altogether.

Performance of the real world of the 5100AGN on a Linksys WRT54G is around 15 Mbps (1, 8 MB/s). My other computer laptop, equipped with a 4965AGN will be double that in the same circumstances. Tried all the drivers I could find, but the above values are the best I can get.

    Hello

I think that this should be possible, but you must use Mini-PCI cards.
The antenna WLan that is placed behind the screen provides two sons; black & white.
A white cable normally goes to the HAND and a black to the auxiliary voltage

    Hello

As far as I know, the unplugged network cable message just for LAN (Local Area connection-LAN) and not wireless.

If you want to check this map to disable LAN in Device Manager. After starting the laptop turn on the wireless card, check the status using the FN + F8 key combination. Wi - Fi is activated after a short time, you should be able to use your wireless network.

You can enable the option Show icon in notification area when connected. You can find it in the properties of wireless under the general tab.

Hello, my laptop Hp G62 b04SL 2009 can support an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wifi card?

    RAM: 4 GB

    Thank you all!

Yes, he absolutely has a whitelist. I do not know where to come from tips in the other 2 posts and this is a mistake. Laptop wi - fi modules are readily available on the market. I have a drawer full of them to prove it. Unfortunately, HP had about one year-10 ran to block the installation of any wi - fi (module) card but a specific group of cards specific firmware HP and identity. In other words, the ONLY cards that can be installed are the very specific listed for your model in your area in the maintenance manual. This prevented the owners of manufactured HP laptops before about Q4 2013 to upgrade to the latest wireless technology. Your laptop is longer than that if you're stuck with what is indicated in the maintenance manual.

Not my decision, just tell it like it is.
