Pavilion dv4: black screen, flashing three HEADED by caps lock and prnt scrn.

So, Ive had this computer for awhile, (not too long) and I noticed that many people have complained that the screen turning black and does not yet.
Now, in my case, my screws come not cancelled, so I'm not able to check the memory problem (as indicated by the sequencing of the lighting).
So is there another way to check what the problem? The screws are glued in place, virtually impossible to return.
It's the first time that did something like that, and I've tried the power reset. It solves nothing.

Hi @Awoken ,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy ad with us.

I see that your computer does not turn and you get a model three blink code. You're right, that does not indicate a problem of memory. If he could get into the operating system, then it would be memory test that you can run, but only if you can get into the operating system. You will need to open and remove the memory. This is Service and Maintenance Guide for your model 50A removal instructions page if you can pass the screws.

  • White screen on Boot and CAPS lock and NUM lock LED blinking on HP Pavilion dv - 6 portable 1210sa

    Hello

    I'm on HP Pavilion dv6 - 1210sa laptop with Windows vista Home Premium (service Pack2). It's the operating system, which is that the laptop came with when I bought in 2010 and later service pack 2 was installed using windows update. I can confirm that my laptop is up-to-date with updates of windows and hp installed periodically. My problem is the following:

    Everytime I turn on my laptop, I can hear the noise from the cooling fan and the led power and feather touch volume buttons and a wi - fi light up. However, the screen remains blank and the CAPS lock and NUM lock Dungeon LED flashing with three second gap between two flashes. They Flash together and blink only once in a single cycle. It keeps flashing even after leaving it for 10 minutes. I have to perform the hard reset several times before I can get it started. This problem started a few months ago with the frequency of the problem more and more. It has now reached a point where I encounter this problem on every start and even after the awakening of the laptop computer from standby or hibernation.

    I know that the flashing of the LEDs is typical diagnoses, but I was unable to understand the real problem. I know the screen works because I tested using an external monitor to work. It should not be the battery (even if it's crap to maintain charge) I tried to restart the laptop with just AC adapter connected (and battery removed) after having done a hard reset and still, the situation did not improve.

    Could someone please tell me what is the problem and what are my options? Think you that formatting my c: / and re - install the OS will solve the problem?

    Thank you.

    Please come back to me

    As long as you keep your files backed up on the outside, it is to you how you want to proceed. First question, however, is you are in warranty or not? If you are in warranty, Yes, call telephone support and will take care to have it sent repair.

    If you are no longer in warranty, however, that the repair can be expensive. You could certainly call for an exact quote, but according to the availability of the room, it might be around $200 and for an out of warranty repair. Money would probably be much more effective if they are presented to a new computer.

    BUT, if you're still able to get the it to power (after trying it several times) and you're OK with the disadvantage, it would be nice to hold off on buying a new computer until it failed completely. I hate this word like that but I want to be realistic with you. I'm sorry that you are having this problem. As I said though, your files are the priority. Keep all your documents and photos and other precious files saved on an external hard drive or flash drive. Let me know if you have any other questions

  • HP Pavilion DV4-2101TU: DV4-2101TU screen flashing

    Hello! I have a problem with the screen flashing. I changed two times of the display cable, the laptop works very well for a few days, but then the problem comes back. If I press at times, at the bottom of the screen, it works very well, at the time when that pressure is removed, it starts flashing again. Is the LCD, problem LCD inverter problem or the cable from the screen once more? And if it is the display cable again which is damaging it again and again?

    If someone can point to the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    The symptoms are exactly what you posted.

    If the connectors are not properly "COZY" mounted, it can be pulling slightly, which is enough for casue you feel.

    When you change the cable yourself, you must ensure that the mylar or tape covers the connections to FIX in order to reduce the movement, if not even once, it appears you are experiencing the symptoms. If you checked these, this could be the inverteer on the back of the lcd screen.

    But I think you should check your connections as you mentioned that it works for a few days.  The person who did the work may have set no new band/Ribbon mylar for connections to hold it still.

Yes I exceeded my ability of a novice at this stage. In the start screen, F10, Bios 5.18 review 18/06/2008 is listed if that helps. Thanks for any help you can offer. Have you connected the laptop to an external monitor or TV? Please try this step first to see if the display on the external monitor or TV is black too.

  • Pavilion dv4-2155dx screen shows no info on the first boot

    My machine generally works very well, except for one annoying thing: on my previous Pavilion (dv4-1435dx), he showed the HP logo and a message that made me know I could press F2 or do anything to get into the BIOS setup screen.

    But on this machine, all I get is a black screen, which makes it very difficult to know when to start press any function button is necessary.

    Is there a way to turn it back on, or it has never been available on this model?

    If someone knows something, your help is appreciated!

    I think that HP this disabled by default on new versions of the bios, use F10 to enter the bios and see if there is a setting, you can change to return to the home screen, or press ESC to show for this start-up cycle.

    Key to the new laptops HP options, everyone can work on your

    ESC = Boot screen

    F1 = Information System

    F2 = System Diagnostics

    F9 = Startup Manager

    F10 = Bios setup

    F11 = HP System Recovery

    After using F10 to enter the bios use F9 to load the bios default settings.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - cursor black screen flashing

    Hi all

    I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro L300 Vista.

    The customer earned him in because when it starts it goes to home Toshiba screen then goes to a black screen with cursor flashing at the top left. I connected external monitor with the same result. Swapped RAM as well.

    Have run Memtest (spent), Seagate HDD long test (past), Ultimate boot CD and Winternals without success.
    * F8 does not work * and no more than the resumption of the plant.

    Can enter the BIOS F2 and F12 no problems and the HARD drive is listed.

    I reinstalled Vista on CD and on reboot it goes back to blinking cursor. I tried booting from the Vista CD repair and system restore. FixBoot commands and FixMbr prompt as well as with the same result.
    I feel that it may be a corrupt CMOS sensor? It's like the OS installs correctly, but the computer loses his memory on reboot where the operating system?

    Is the battery CMOS easily accessible and removable on this model?

    Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Is - fixable at lower cost?

    Hello

    If you have clients, I guess you're a technician and hope you have a few pieces of equipment in your store.
    Have you tried to set the BIOS to default settings and check again?
    If possible try to exchange the HARD drive and test the functionality again.
    You can use laptop with Linux live CD (HARD drive not required)?

    To be honest that I think n problem t is ORGANIC and, in my opinion, the exchange of the CMOS battery is not necessary.

    Please test it with the new HARD drive and post comments.

  • HP Pavilion dv6: black screen with cursor after the connection

    For two weeks, my laptop lost sound through the speakers and plug headphones.  The computer recognizes there is a problem of devices not be enabled on troubleshooting menus, but when I check the devices individually and test says they are on and sound screens played... even if there is none.

    Due to this recurring problem, I downloaded the drivers for my system updated and uninstalled the old series and restarted my system.  Since then, I get a black screen after login and could make even spybot search and destroy scan my items, but that's all.  Computer still starts in safe mode and can run the Task Manager... Help?

    Hello

    Boot the computer normally and log.

    Black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.

    Select Task Manager.

    Select the process tab and select to show processes from all users (lower-left).

    Click the column heading to organize the processes in alphabetical order.

    Look for an entry called to run once Wrapper (RunOnce.exe) - If you see it listed, right-click on it and select end task.

    If your office now appears, download AdwCleaner on the following link (there are 4-5 second delay until it's available)- Save in your downloads folder.

    https://toolslib.NET/downloads/finish/1/

    A once downloaded, close all programs, open your download folder and double-click the application to run it (click Yes to any uac prompt).

    Click the scan button.

    When the results are displayed, click the Clean button - when you are prompted to restart, click Ok.

    It starts on the desktop correctly now?
