Pavilion DV4: error of hard disk for Pavilion DV4

My notebook, it is far too slow, ran a diagnostic hard drive test system. It is said

DST short: FAILURE

FALITURE ID:Q4KRA3 - 60D7Ge-MFGK01-60SP03

PRODUCT ID: A7J71LA #ABM

What I need to get a new drive or it can be saved?

Hello

24 short drive self-test error code would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the problem of slow performance that you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

Kind regards

You can add another drive to accept backups Time Machine... assuming it is correctly formatted for Mac to Mac OS extended (journaled), but things are not exactly "continue."

You have not indicated if you intend to add the player to the USB port on the Time Capsule, or connect directly to your computer using USB or FireWire connections. Or the other method works, with the option to connect directly to the computer being the faster connection.

Once the disc is added, you would go in Time Machine preferences (click the "clock" at the top of the screen on your Mac) to add the disk for Time Machine backups and delete the old Time Capsule disk, since backups will go is no longer this destination.

Since you have a new drive, Time Machine will do a new full backup of your Mac and then go forward with incremental backups.

  • Workstation 8 Shared VMs on different hard disks for autostart

    Hi people:

Is anyway to take advantage of the feature work station 8 sharing VMs autostart with the start-up of the host OS, but have several virtual machines on different hard drives? Ideally, I would like to have VMs on separate hard disks for performance problems. \

I really don't want to go on the road of ESXi right now. Is it possible to "autostart" other than via the shared "VMs" component of VMware workstation VMs 8? I think this would be a trivial feature to add to the workstation 8 and would make great useful for young kids like me.

    Hello

One last question, I replace the hard drive (160G) in my old Pavilion a800n and wonder what would be the size (well at least 500G) max. Guess I could partition if necessary...

    Hello

Sorry, based on the following specifications, I would not be to HARD disk. If you need more space for data/files, buy an external HARD drive.

To do this, I want to know the configuration of HARD disk as

    1. 2.5 or 3.5
    2. What is SATA or SATA-no?
    3. SATA is compatible for it?
    4. What is the size of the HARD drive that needs to be? -height, length and width.

    Hello

    It's a laptop HP Pavilion 15-p100dx ?

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c04463224

    If Yes, then

    1. it uses standard 2.5 "HDD.

    2. it is a SATA HDD,

3 SATA III (or 3) and SATA II (or 2) is compatible.

    4. all standard HDD laptops would use the same width and length, thickness (hright) can be varry slightly, but your laptop supports 7 mm or 9.5 mm. Better use 9.5 mm because you don't need a frame fill to increase his height.

    5. Yes, HP doesn't produce HARD drives for laptops, it uses Seagate, Toshiba and a few other brands.

    6. you can buy in any computer store BestBuy or Amazon, Newegg...

  • G8 Pavilion laptop hardware error - new hard disk?

Hello, I spoke with a representative from HP and I wanted a second opinion. Here are the facts:

Possible virus causing the model to be very slow and have errors at the start up.

Problems of gel even in "safe mode".

Decided to do a "System Restore" using F8. Follow-up of the steps, took 20 + minutes, FINISHED.

A screen says that I can, "1. update of security for HP and microsoft;   2 re - install any other software;    3. install all the backed up files. I selected 'NEXT' at the bottom of the screen, then, "OPERATING SYSTEM not FOUND '. Now I can't other than 'F' screens anyhere

I call HP. A rep tells me to use F2, test drive. On a quick scan, 1 hard disk failure (SMART disc is OK). The full scan, 1 hard disk failure (SMART disc is OK).  The representative asked me a long code determine the failures, and there is NOT.  I go out of the main system diagnostics page and there are two failure codes: 303 (quick scan) and 305 (full scan). The rep wants codes any longer, but there is not.

My question: do I need a new hard drive, or I can just recovery disks?

Thanks for any help you can provide!   -Sarah

    Hello

Longer code (up to 24 characters) means that the HARD disk is dead. 305 error would indicate that your hard drive is defective and must be replaced. Please backup your files/data as soon as possible. Is your machine still under warranty? In the affirmative, please call HP for a replacement.

Update: Sorry, I'm a little slow - 3rd opinion then.

    Kind regards.

  • SMART Hard Disk Error - replace hard disk?

A couple of days, I got an error when I start my computer (HP Pavilion dv6-6071eo), saying "SMART hard disk error" followed by a message telling me that SMART disk check has detected and imminent failure. He told me to my backup files, and then press F2 and do a hard drive test. On the last row, it displays "Hard Disk 1 (301).

I tried to run the hard drive test, which does not instantly. I also ran the BIOS hard drive test. It meets the short test without problem and then stopped quite some time after the long trial began with the error "Disk Hard 1 full 305. My computer has also been slow over the last week.

From what I've read so far, it seems that I need to replace my hard drive. Is this correct? If so, it would be a suitable replacement (functional): http://www.dustinhome.se/product/5010151237/western-digital-black-2-5-320gb-7200rpm-sata-300-16mb/#i.... Also, would it not interesting (and possible) upgrade to an SSD for reduction of noise and heat, which is a problem with this laptop (and several other portable simular at HP) compared to other laptops.

In addition, it might be good to mention that my warranty has expired.

Have you checked to see if there is a free space left on the hard drive? A complete hard drive will make the system work very slowly and it may also keep the system working properly if it is fairly comprehensive. The fact that you take the short test means that there is nothing major to mechanically wrong with the drive. Just right-click on the icon for the main C:\ drive likely "computer: and select 'Properties'.» If the disc is not actually full, then I suggest to replace. If you can afford a SSD, Yes, there is no doubt that is the way to go. There is nothing wrong on one ssd, other than an occasional fight to install it. I have been using SSD for awhile and I had installation problems we often see reported here, but do not be discouraged, we are here to help.

  • Second limit of hard disk for P7-1206

I have a P7-1206 Pavilion comes with a 2 TB hard drive.  I would like to install a second hard drive to use for multimedia files.  What is the largest hard drive that I can install?  I guess it will take a 2 TB drive but if I can go higher?

    Hello

The cage of your PC hard drive can accommodate two hard disks.  I would recommend that you add a second hard drive and then redirect your files common files such as: my documents, my pictures, my videos, my music on the second hard drive.

You can add a second drive hard for the data using only that is greater than 2 TB.

    HP Envy 17 17-1190 ca,.
    Windows 7 64 bit
Failure of HARD drive in windows error.
    Error reads:
Windows detected a hard disk problem

    -> Ask later
    Which drive is a failure

The following hard disks are fault condition:

    Disc name: Toshiba Mk1059GSM
    Volume: C:\D:\

No major change except the recorded images and visit the different websites before this error occurred. Use different Wifi access than usual the night before that I was visiting a friend.
I also did the backup under windows has proposed, as well as fact the HARD drive to test on a restart with the following information
    Journal of diagnosis
    Result time

    0301 111311 190805

    Then several no data below.

What are these results? This could be a virus and not a real failure of HARD drive?

I made a backup at this stage, and then the AVG installed anti-virus software to carry out analyses more away in case it's a virus.
Help to identify the journal of diagnosis would be appreciated and so also if it is a virus, as I had seen a virus who himself disguised as a warning from Windows XP HARD drive failure which linked to a Web site to try to extort money from people (although none like this, but a real Windows 7 error)

    Thanks for any help.

  • Try to migrate from the hard disk for ssd drive

Hello, 4 days ago I bought dell inspiron with windows 8.1 5748 and a 1 TB hard drive.

I also bought samsung 250 GB of ssd drive 840EVO to replace the disk of 1 TB of the laptop. I cloned the HARD disk drive and restored the image in the ssd drive and when I mounted the SDS disc and shot to the top of the laptop I got an error that it cannot detect a drive... Press F2 to enter setup F5 for diagnostics and F1 to reboot.

First I made sure to rise properly. After I checked I entered the bios where I noticed that the drive is recognized in the details of the system. The model was correct, the capasity as well. Fashion was ahci.

I ran the diagnostics and they couldn't locate a drive.

So, is this an incompatibility? I checked for updates to the bios and I see I m to date on that. The player is surelly ok as I have tested on another pc...

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Add1ctiv3,

We recommend that you use the recovery disks that are you ready when you got your system to restore the image of the original on the SSD hard drive. Since they have the same size, it should work without problem.

  • Capacity of the hard disk for NX9030

    Hello

I have a laptop HP Compaq NX9030. The hard disk starts to show errors so I intend to replace it. Does anyone know if the laptop has a limited capacity for replacement hard drives?

    Thank you

    Dave

You have the Intel 855 chipset. In order to launch a hard drive larger than 137 GB, you need help for 48-bit Large Block Addressing in the chipset, BIOS and operating system. I find contradictory information on the ability of the chipset 855 doing of 48bits LBA. I also wonder if ever taken HP worth of produce a BIOS that would make 48 bit LBA in this model being the biggest hard drive offered 60 gigs. In other words, I think you should assume 120 GB is size max hard drive you can use and the only way I can think to prove otherwise is to buy the largest disk and install it. Windows XP Sp1a and superior does not large drives.

  • Update hard disk for Satellite 1900 102

    Hi all

I used to work with a Toshiba Satellite 1900 102 since July 2002 and March my hard drive has stopped working (maybe it was time).
Where can I buy records 2.5 "that this series of satellites can be supported?

What is the maximum capacity (in GB) laptop that recognizes the old man?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello

2.5 hard drives can be bought anywhere I think then, either you contact an authorized service provider or you visit your favorite computer store.

I think that the Satellite 1900 limits the 28-bit LBA. This would mean that the size of the HARD disk is limited to 128 GB. The maximum capacity is 120 GB that you can use, but I think that 80 GB would be enough according to your amount of files you want to save on the HARD drive.

One clone free it would be so I can reload Windows on the new drive?
    Thank you
    David

It of also no problem to install Windows on the new HARD drive. For this, you can use the recovery disc.

Of course, the easiest and fastest is to clone the HARD disk.
I found a free program called HDClone Free Edition. I didn't use the program again, but it should also work as the other programs.
For example, I use Acronis image for years. It s not expensive and I never have and problems with the program. It works fast and I never had a faulty image or something else.

  • Need new hard disk for Equium A100

    Hello

I want to replace the 80 GB HDD of my A100 for something big.
    I'm guessing it's a SATA, I'll need?

Nobody knows what is the greatest, my laptop can handle without any performance?
Just to confirm that it is a satellite A100-027

Also, I literally get out the old one, stick in the new and then load Windows XP on it? Is it really as simple as that :/?

    Hello

Yes, the A100 Equium supports the SATA HDD controller and so you will need a SATA 2.5 HARD disk!

    > Also, I literally get out the old one, stick in the new and then load Windows XP on it? Is it really as simple as that :/?
Yes, the upgrade of the HARD drive is not difficult.
In most cases, you will need to remove the HDD from the laptop's HARD drive Bay, then switch the HARD drive bracket to the new HARD drive, then insert the new HARD disc again in Notepad.

    That s it.

  • Replacement of the hard disk for Equium A60-155

I need to replace the hard drive in my equium A60-155. I need to know what is compatible with this model and if the brand of the drive is important in compatibility. For example should be a drive hard toshiba or is it possible to others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

You n t need to install a HDD in particular of Toshiba. You can also use disk of another company.

It is important that you use a HARD drive with support for hardware specifications.

I found these useful discussions on the replacement of the HDD on the Satellite and Equium A60:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=23770&MessageID=87207
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=22183&MessageID=81930

Satellite A60 is very similar to the A60 Equium and so the two series use the same hard disks
