Pavilion dv5-1203em that has a 500 GB HDD 5400 replacement WD5000BEVT-60ZAT0

Started making grinding noises and worried it will fail soon. I backed everything up and make incremental backups every month or the major software update.

I found this page which has examples of readers for the dv5: -.

http://www.Amazon.co.UK/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?URL=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=HP+Pavilion+dv5+500GB...

I got the laptop computer upgraded with 8 GB of RAM and it is both power-hungry and becomes very hot requiring leaving space for ventilation.

I have a few questions: -.

1. I would of course get the model 7200 / 16 MB fast, but my laptop BIOS will support this, and this will lead to even greater consumption of energy and the heat generated?

2. you would recommend sticking with the 5400/8 MB that I know will it work?

3. I don't see the 1203em in the list of models supported, is there a compatibility list or can any point where it shows it IS supported?

4. the model I have seems to be original HP Italy so I'm having a lot of trouble finding any hardware spare parts - can anyone help?

Thank you to all those who respond

I use the Western Digital Scorpio Black series in both my HP laptops, I have heat problems, they seem to go very cool and 7200 RPM

Any Sata laptop hard drive will work as long as it's 750 GB or smaller, drives 1 TB are thicker and do not fit in some bays of hard disk in several notebooks,.

I like BEKT of the Scorpio black models, they are not as advanced, compatible with multiple operating systems

If you want Advanced Format then go with the BPKT, these work well with Vista and Windows 7 but are kind of a pain when installing with XP.

You are allowed to activate the software on two computers. If this is your second installation on the new machine, the software should assign without problem.

  • Pavilion dv5-1111ax computer laptop processor AMD RM-74 substitute/replacement/upgrade at level

The RM-74 processor is fried.  I get the 2 flashing lights all 3-seconds to 1 second.

I searched the AMD site for the likely replacement candidates and found a number who share the following General charactistics:

    Mode of operation (32 & 64 bit)

    Socket (S1)

    Basic speed (2200 MHz)

    (3600 MHz) system Bus speed

    Power consumption (35W)

    AMD virtualization technology (Yes)

The processor RM-75 has identical to the RM-74 specifications so wouldn't be of any benefit.

ZM-82 has a larger memory cache L2 2 MB as opposed to the cache of 1 MB on the RM-74 and 75 CPU.  These 3 CPU have a SELF architecture 65nm and ZM-82 seemed to be a better performer in flow with the larger L2 cache.  Doesn't it?

2 CPU is AMD Phenom II Triple and quadruple-heart N850 and N970 respectively.  They have a 45nm SOI architecture and a 512 KB L2 cache.

It would seem that one of these 2 CPU would give me a performance gain as a substitute for the RM-74 failed, but, if this can be a reality in my laptop dv5-111ax?  Would need more robust cooling as well?

    This is the page for HP support for your laptop HP Pavilion dv5-1111ax Entertainment and this is the HP Pavilion dv5 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide for your computer. Based on the service guide, the following processors will work in your system;

    HP p/n 484260-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484261-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core ZM-82 35W 2.20 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484262-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core ZM-80 35W 2.10 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484263-001 - Turion Dual-Core 35W RM-70 2.00 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484264-001 - Athlon X 2 Dual-Core 35W QL-60 1.90 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache

This list is not exhaustive but representative of processors installed by HP. Given that all these CPUS are of the same series/carrot, I highly doubt that the Phenom II Nxxx series processors will work in this model. In theory, plus the model number... the best performance in the series. You should not need a cooling solution better, as all processors are rated at 35 watts TDP.

  • Pavilion dv5-1203em windows 7 ultimate x 64 restore

Have taken the following precautions: -.

    Created Windows recovery disc

HP operating system created recovery disks

Run monthly (or more often if the high level of changes in data/system) via Windos Backup on external drive - include backup external drive.

I have a few questions if OK?

    1. the backup I selected includes system image. I do not have a backup of separate data. This means that I will be able to restore the entire disk (only one 500 GB partition C (a) in the event of a disk failure. Someone did he do a restore of the system disk - if yes can they advise the procedure and if the problems encountered? I bought a HARD drive of spare which has the same features except that original (current) is WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB 5400 RPM 8 MB of cache, the replacement is WD Scorpio Black 500 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB cache - is the difference is going to cause a problem if do a restore?

    2. I can't know if the backup is full or incremental backup. Of course, the original backup is full, but is automatically incremental later? The reason why I ask is because they are larger and larger than the original, and there seems to be no option to SELECT a differential? I'm afraid that if I remove an old backup, my restore will fail because the full backup is no longer available?

3 should I do a separate data only backup - it DOESN'T change much, but given that the data are on the same drive as the OS, I assumed that I would have no option but to restore the entire system from image anyway?

My apologies for the newbie questions apparent, only I had a laptop before and paid the price for taking any precaustions.

Thanks to all those who respond and if something is not clear, let me know.

    1. the only problem I've seen with an Image of Windows system restore is when you try to restore a hard drive smaller than the original drive, it will not work, equal or bigger hard drive works.

    2. backup Windows 'image' is incremental if you use the same backup destination where old image backups are stored, it is automatically stored as incremental. I've never used the backup of Windows 'files', so I can't comment on that.

    3. I'm still a simple copy and paste important files on an external drive, I have never rely on a method of backup of important files either.

I do not use Windows System Image backup as it is not complete and has its limitations, I've been using EaseUS Todo backup.

    Dear Sir.

If you can auto discontinuous batches in a single file depends on the printer driver. Check the printer manufacturer's documentation, or the forum.

  • Cannot install any os in a hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev

Hi, my friend has an hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev, he had top, pre installed windows vista. He asked me that if I could make the computer faster, so I told him, of course, you need to change OS to do this, you must install windows 7, I said. So I took with me, put windows 7 dvd, boot from the cd/dvd drive, deleted all partitions, even the recovery partition (I didn't know it came without a copy of disk recovery tools), partitioned the drive into 2 two new partitions, formatted and continued to install the os on the primary. The dvd that I used has all versions of windows 7, 32 and 64 bit, tried all, it gets stuck on the process of expansion, to 0% files (only with one version, she was 14%, I can't remember which), and it gives me the "windows cannot install required files. the file may be corrupted or missing. "Sure... error code: 0 x 80070017. Then, I tried with another dvd with winodws 7 ultimate, same thing. I also tried with the disc do not split into two, one partition, just in case windows is having problems expanding all of the files, just in case, same thing. Then I thought it was a bios thing, he had to be updated, which to be honest there cause of the version it is F.0C, and in the support section of the hp site, I found a newer version of it, which is also described as necessary for the latest operating system upgrade. I thought wow, that's it, I found it, I will upload a version of it bootable, version bootable cd to be precise, cause the bios version there back does not support booting from usb devices, I'll update it and install the operating system. NOPE. The site has an exe of the bios version. I tried to make a disk bootable with the bios in there (with the option of nero boot disc), I guess that I've not done it right, it could be a solution, but I could use some help on this. I also tried to install windows xp, so that I can install it the update of the bios, the same thing, I get the same error, only with the old blue sceen scholl. Finally, I tried to install windows vista Home premium, just in case the bios for a reason any has only accepted this operating system, no way, same error again! So now I'm not stuck wth no operating system, a pc unusable, nothing can be installed on it. I asked my friend that if the cd/dvd drive had some kind of problem, he said, had no problem with game discs, their loading and installation of games. Please HELP I don't know what to do! Thank you

Nevermind, I managed to solve the problem by taking the hard drive, put it in another phone and the windows installation, then put it back. It worked like charm, so the problem is 100% on the DVD player.

    Thank you

  • How to connect my device bluetooth on HP Pavilion dv5-1135ee

    Hello

In fact my bluetooth device is not plugged in, although the wireless LAN works fine!

All the time I try to change the Bluetooth options in order to allow others to see my computer, he said "it seems your bluetooth device not connected correctly.

Please info on how to connect my bluetooth device on HP Pavilion dv5-1135ee, keeping in mind that the turn on button is a perspective!

and with this optical touch, I activated the WLAN + Bluetooth

Wireless LAN works, and has no Bluetooth!

I tried to download Bluetooth driver associated with my (Vista home edition) operating system from HP website, but @ acertain point configuration stopped, saying the same error that 'Bluetooth device is not detected.

    Any Info?

    Kind regards

Thank you very much, the problem has been resolved.

The Solution: Run Windows Update and everything will be solved, actually it was an error inherenet on vista (Micrososft ISATAP adapter) so it might conflict with the Bluetooth device, and once the update is installed, all return to it's origin.

You can retrieve only data files has not be erased. Normally, you will have to pay for software such as Getdata or service to retrieve data/files, but there are some free products:

Hi, I can't find in services upgrade hp, an option for my operation system windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. And now? Help me please! I need to update the Bios of my HP Pavilion DV5-1235dx.

What is pass or don't pass don't not with Windows 8.1 you think that an update of the BIOS would help? The latest version of the BIOS is F.21 and HP has not issued any supported Windows 8/8.1 for this model, which was originally a Vista machine.

  • Cannot access connections wireless on HP Pavilion dv5

Product name HP Pavilion DV5 laptop

Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

Error message: Wireless message "no connection is available.

No changes were made to the system

I can't access wireless connections, even if the other devices have access to connections.  Wireless adapters work, but I can't seem to 'see' all wireless connections. /

This has just occurred recently-never a problem in the past.

    Any recommendations?

I recommend you update your BIOS. Go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html , and then type the name of your product in the search box.  Choose the Dv5 Entertainment Notebook that you have and select.  On the next page select your operating system Windows 7 Home 32 or 64-bit. Once on the correct driver for your laptop page choose BIOS in the list of drivers. Please update your BIOS and reboot. This should bring your WIFI connection. Please let me know if that solves this problem.

  • Possible to move the Pavilion DV5 hard drive to the newer model?

    Hello.

I have a little old (but LARGE) laptop - DV5 - 1133ca (FS036UA@ABC) that has intermittent problems with the display.

It blinks and goes sometimes totally blank.  Then I plug in an external monitor and continue to work.  A few days later, he can work or not.  Fix sometimes repositioning the screen slightly with the hinges.  I'm sure it's some sort of cable inside or something.

In any CASE - due to time and complexity with the upgrade to a new laptop (reloading programs, etc.) and the daily use of it - I was wondering if it was possible to buy a new laptop HP OR a model slightly more recent HP Pavilion (IE. Dv6 and DV7 with a little more power) and simply swap my hard drive.

I understand that I would have probably to update many of the drivers - but in general would that work?

Y at - it or the particular models that I should consider to mitigate any possible problems?

    Is this a good solution?

Thank you for your help in advance.

    Bill

    See if it works...

Download and run this graphics driver.

This package provides the video/graphics driver for the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset in portable models supported and operating systems.

    File name: sp45601.exe

Conclusion of any windows error that can occur.

Go to Device Manager and click on the device to Microsoft Basic graphics card.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

You physically impossible to move your USB 3.0 only medium is a PCMIA card that has connections USB3. With respect to the processor that depends on the P/n, and then repair will tell you if you can or cannot go to i5.

I did a search for general model since I have not exactly P/N... and came with this...

Intel processor (includes the thermal material replacement):

    Intel Dual Core i7 - 640 M 2.80 GHz (turbo SC up to 3.50 GHz), 35W processor (FSB 1066 MHz, 3 MB L3 cache)
