Pavilion Dv5-2074dx: Pavillion DV5 home/screen replacement/station

Nice day

I need help to identify my model type and screen compatibility settings for replacement.

The product is a Pavillion Dv5-2074dx and the screen is toast, was crushed in a luggage bag by an air carrier.

The device works well, but it is unusable with the screen in the current state.

I have a few questions.

(1) what is the best place to find a screen and what are the "Noo - Noo a ' when buying a replacement?

(2) where can I find a docking station, and which is limiting the size of the screen to an external display?

(3) is something that a guy who has replaced several screens parts and pieces of smart phone can handle the replacement?

(4) should I replace the cable between the body and the screen as well?

OK so, technically, it was not a "few" and "many" questions.

The unit worked well for about 6 months a few years ago and has been inactive since.

I want to bring back to life.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Hello

1 copy the following place:

http://PartSurfer.HP.com/search.aspx?SearchText=WQ751UA

everything you need: right part # and you can also buy other stores such as Amazon

2. I do not think that your computer has a correct docking port, but you can buy something like one of the following platforms

http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04155381.PDF%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0

3. Yes but it is better to see a dealer approved HP if you couldn't do it yourself

4. No, there external por (s), you can connect from there, no internal. For a normal screen new screen should have cables to go with it.

The following manual will give you some ideas how to replace a screen:

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02666786.PDF

I don't think that you need a dock. Your computer has VGA and HMDI ports, you can connect to an external monitor using seasonal ports. For best results, buy a monitor with HDMI port.

Kind regards.

  • Pavilion dv5/entertainment: Pavilion dv5/entertainment - screen

    Hello to HP,

Honestly, I would like to ask your advice - computer Pavilion laptop dv5 entertainment 'second hand', I had for about 5 years, the former owner sold it for me because of a problem with screen (vertical streaks from time to time, bright appeared). When the problem started becoming more frequent, we took apart the laptop with my brother, we got to the gondola of the LCD and roll and move it somehow (we realized that this cable may be sensitive when opening and plugging the laptop so it can cause the problem) and it worked, the streaks appeared rarely since (we did it about 2 years ago). About 1 years ago I gave my notebook to served to clean (I mean they cleaned only the fan, even I asked them to clean all the laptop) so I use rather an external fan to avoid overheating... that s all, I did with my laptop related material all the time I...

Now on the problem itself: about 3 days ago, I've been exceptionally on laptop for a long time without any pause (10 hours, I was downloading something) I left the room for about an hour and when I came back, I wanted to continue but the phone didn t want to "wake up" to the black screen. But I want everything but the screen worked.

I went it 'almost' turned off, turn it on on and, as a first step, I saw this: the screen is divided into parts half/half, one of them is black, one of them about white, I listen all noise when itself from the laptop as normal (works of fan, disk, diods shimmer..) but the screen turns absolutely black within a certain time. So, is it possible that this may be caused by the cable of the LCD (but I didn t go with my laptop, I was away when it happened) or more likely is another problem? I read a few similar 'diagnostic' saying it's because of a 'graphics freeze chips game', but there is the only difference - the black image on my screen when starting the laptop is.

The State previous the cell od appeared before this problem is: no warning of the system. Sometimes, at the start, it took about half an hour before the laptop worked normally (it was slow), but then it improved... but about a month ago, it began to be better and better and the problem started to no longer exists.

Thank you in advance, best regards,

    Anna

Theres only 2 things that can cause that:

1 broken LCD hinges all about cable.

2 overheating GPU which gives slowly upward, a very common on these laptops DV problem.

  • HP Pavilion dv5 (KS878) screen becomes black. Flickers. Sometimes works with AC adapter / CC.

    Dear HP users,

I've had my HP Pavilion dv5z-1000 for four years now.  My parents bought this computer during the sale of the labor day in 2008.  After almost a year of daily use, I encountered my first problem.  One night during my first year of high school the screen burned completely. In my head I was scared and called HP the next day.  Thank God I was under warranty and they replaced or repaired the LCD screen for me.

Nearly a year later, when no unsecured computer does the same thing again.  This time I couldn't see the computer zap or FRY in front of me.  I turned it on one day and to my surprise, the screen was black.  I took out the battery, turned on the computer with the charger, and the screen started to work again.  Unfortunetely, these two hours of happy he was working while on the load screen went black again.  I called HP and they said I would have to pay because I wasn't not under warranty anymore.

My father has bought a new computer dell laptop after that and I used it since.  I'm now going to College, and I desperately want to FIX this HP computer and use it as a backup.

While on the current the sceen can work for a certain period of time.  Sometimes, the screen can last for 2 + hours or only barely 1 minute, in which there are flickers constantly and then boom - the screen goes black again.

I tried these solutions and I tried to connect the computer to an external monitor (my LG TV) via an RGB - PC cable and the result is connectionless.  I heard that there are countless problems with screens HP including, in particular, the model I bought.  If anyone has any suggestions on what is causing this problem please let me know.  I still don't know if this is my video card, motherboard, the LCD screen, or if the wire connections are damaged/loose.

I use my droid 2 LED flashlight to see the screen sometimes.  My office is always in the background when it turns black.

Help a future student.  It's always a great laptop except the * beep * screen is the only problem.

I agree with you that it is the power inverter and that is why I asked you to use the flashlight. Electric inverters cost less than $20 and a computer store should help you to replace at least for an hour work. Some stores charge $40 - $150 / hr would be fork and I think that in my area, most is about $50-$ 80.  I think that the forums of HP (I think we have to show you the answer?) would be a good reason to buy another HP!

  • Occasional screen flicker (HP Pavilion dv5-1010us)

    Greetings,

I bought my HP Pavilion dv5-1010us Entertainment pc precisely the Labor Day 2008 due to a current sale.

The screen tends to flicker in mostly white with thin bars of color (reflecting the colours that are supposed to be shown) vertical to the Center and some goes horizontal upward.

The problem arose only recently, and it appears sporadically. Sometimes he just blinks a couple seconds, then returns to normal and doesn't happen for a while. Other times, he'll almost constantly, and I don't see what I'm doing.

Also, sometimes, before or after the screen flashed, thick horizontal bars darken the screen and move up and down several times, vaguely remenisant for when you take a video of television or similar, and horizontal bars scrolling down it.

It seems to happen also only usually when a) the lapotp isn't on a resistant surface, small tremors every now and again because of the surface, and b) whenever I have tilt the screen.

Sometimes, just put the screen to another post he corrects, but most of the time, I just have to wait until it stops flashing.

I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit,

graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9200 M GS

in Device Manager, it says the driver is 'Generic PnP monitor', but he also says that it's the updated driver.

    (Short version)

    Specifications of the computer:

    Vista Home Premium 64-bit

    nVidia GeForce 9200 M GS

    'Generic PnP monitor' pilot

Question: Screen flickers sporadically mainly white with a few fine lines color when the laptop screen is tilted or unstable and sometimes at very random times.

    The problem only recently.

I called earlier to HP support. (Sometimes at the begginning of the month).

There was nothing that they could do over the phone, so they sent me a box on 2 days shipping from FedEx.

Got the box and sent my laptop. They received it the 7 and 8 sent using FedEx. I got it on the 10th.

From what I can tell, it's a brand new screen. The top of my laptop (the back of the monitor) had a few minor and cosmetic scratches in the surface of the it normal wear and tear when I sent it. When I got the laptop repaired, there is a movie on top of the laptop (the back of the screen). I peeled off the power, and there is no scratches whatsoever.

Certainly it's even portable, although (my touchpad has a few marks on it, too, normal wear and tear.) I often use this machine. ). Therefore, a new screen.

The left side is also is no longer loose at all, and it works exactly as it should.

I used every day since I got back and have had no problems or issues at all the.

The only solution seems to be to send in, unfortunately. On the positive side, however, it only took about 7 business days after I got out the phone with them for me to have the back already.

I called on a Tuesday evening has obtained the box this Thursday evening when I'm off work, he left FedEx on Friday, they got it on the following Tuesday, and he had fixed and shipped Wednesday, for me to have received this Friday.

In short, it is a pity that the screen stopped working properly, it was not too scary to little more than a week without it.

  • HP Pavilion Dv5 screen compatibility

I was wondering if I would be able to replace the screen of my HP Pavilion Dv5-1125nr with that of my HP Pavilion Dv5-1002nr model?

Recently, the display on my laptop turns off. The screen will be for a bit and then the backlight turns off but image will still be on the screen. Thinking that it was a problem with the inverter I ordered a new one and installed with the same results. Computer works with external projector so I think that the LEDs is bad. I have used the computer for more than a year and not to turn it off. Computer tends to overheat like most HPs.

As the screen on the HP Pavilion Dv5-1002nr works very well, it would be good to know if I could just spend it.

    Thank you

    Erik

PS: I guess it would be nice to get out them but some assurance would be nice. Here are the laptop stat pages:

  • How can I fix lines horizontal randomly and glitter for the LCD screens for HP Pavilion dv5 Vista?

How can I correct random lines horizontal and glitter for the LCD screens for windows vista HP Pavilion dv5? Only, it happens randomly and can get all a few minutes at a time every few hours. The entire screen white and black and horizontal lines will appear during the flickering on the half top of the screen only. Nothing else changes. My sound is immutable, and none of my screens change the size or location. However, they may appear up and down during the flashing. Can someone give me an idea of what is wrong? I looked on Google for possible corrections, but most of them seem to be for refresh rate and I don't have a notch for this and can't change it according to the steps they offer.

Read my initial response on what it takes to please.

    "See if this helps you:

These lines indicate corruption graphics driver or lack of graphic material.

Go to the HP Web site > Search a drivers and download article > search your laptop model number > your operating system > drivers for it: either video / graphic / Chipset (according to the wording it) > download and install the drivers.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If that fixed it, it seems to me be a problem of graphic material.

Because it's a laptop; If under warranty, contact HP.

If is not under warranty, contact a repair shop, local. »

Hi HP, im asking if there is a replacement for HP pAVILION DV5-1050ee motherboard. What is the part number? • Pavilion dv5-1111ax computer laptop processor AMD RM-74 substitute/replacement/upgrade at level

The RM-74 processor is fried.  I get the 2 flashing lights all 3-seconds to 1 second.

I searched the AMD site for the likely replacement candidates and found a number who share the following General charactistics:

    Mode of operation (32 & 64 bit)

    Socket (S1)

    Basic speed (2200 MHz)

    (3600 MHz) system Bus speed

    Power consumption (35W)

    AMD virtualization technology (Yes)

The processor RM-75 has identical to the RM-74 specifications so wouldn't be of any benefit.

ZM-82 has a larger memory cache L2 2 MB as opposed to the cache of 1 MB on the RM-74 and 75 CPU.  These 3 CPU have a SELF architecture 65nm and ZM-82 seemed to be a better performer in flow with the larger L2 cache.  Doesn't it?

2 CPU is AMD Phenom II Triple and quadruple-heart N850 and N970 respectively.  They have a 45nm SOI architecture and a 512 KB L2 cache.

It would seem that one of these 2 CPU would give me a performance gain as a substitute for the RM-74 failed, but, if this can be a reality in my laptop dv5-111ax?  Would need more robust cooling as well?

    This is the page for HP support for your laptop HP Pavilion dv5-1111ax Entertainment and this is the HP Pavilion dv5 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide for your computer. Based on the service guide, the following processors will work in your system;

    HP p/n 484260-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484261-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core ZM-82 35W 2.20 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484262-001 - Turion Ultra Dual-Core ZM-80 35W 2.10 GHz processor with 2 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484263-001 - Turion Dual-Core 35W RM-70 2.00 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache

    HP p/n 484264-001 - Athlon X 2 Dual-Core 35W QL-60 1.90 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache

This list is not exhaustive but representative of processors installed by HP. Given that all these CPUS are of the same series/carrot, I highly doubt that the Phenom II Nxxx series processors will work in this model. In theory, plus the model number... the best performance in the series. You should not need a cooling solution better, as all processors are rated at 35 watts TDP.

  • Pavilion dv5-1203em that has a 500 GB HDD 5400 replacement WD5000BEVT-60ZAT0

Started making grinding noises and worried it will fail soon. I backed everything up and make incremental backups every month or the major software update.

I found this page which has examples of readers for the dv5: -.

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?URL=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=HP+Pavilion+dv5+500GB...

I got the laptop computer upgraded with 8 GB of RAM and it is both power-hungry and becomes very hot requiring leaving space for ventilation.

    I have a few questions: -.

    1. I would of course get the model 7200 / 16 MB fast, but my laptop BIOS will support this, and this will lead to even greater consumption of energy and the heat generated?

    2. you would recommend sticking with the 5400/8 MB that I know will it work?

    3. I don't see the 1203em in the list of models supported, is there a compatibility list or can any point where it shows it IS supported?

    4. the model I have seems to be original HP Italy so I'm having a lot of trouble finding any hardware spare parts - can anyone help?

Thank you to all those who respond

I use the Western Digital Scorpio Black series in both my HP laptops, I have heat problems, they seem to go very cool and 7200 RPM

Any Sata laptop hard drive will work as long as it's 750 GB or smaller, drives 1 TB are thicker and do not fit in some bays of hard disk in several notebooks,.

I like BEKT of the Scorpio black models, they are not as advanced, compatible with multiple operating systems

If you want Advanced Format then go with the BPKT, these work well with Vista and Windows 7 but are kind of a pain when installing with XP.

Hello, I'm recovering from the corruption of BIOS, hoping that it is not a failed mobo.

I downloaded the latest BIOS update for my system, but I can't this file to install on an external USB key using HP instructions to restore the BIOS.

To 1.11 step, I don't get the "HP system BIOS Update Utility" screen. Instead, I get this:

    My questions:

    1. is there an easy way to get this .exe on a USB? (I tried 3 computers and 3 cards USB, WTH then?)

    2. If not, can I just unzip and create a bootable USB in another program by copy/pasting the BIOS file?

    3. is there anything else I should try before flashing the BIOS?

Thanks in advance for your help. ^^

UPDATE: the "BIOS error" was in fact the video card that failed due to repeated overheating. The repair shop, replace the video card and repaired the overheating problem (I don't ask how), and my computer is like new.

For those who have a similar with their computer, my error "BIOS" problem (as it is coded by flashing lights of my computer) turns out to be a video card has failed.

The repair shop, said that what happens when computers overheat frequently, which mine did. Thus, they have changed the video card and solved the overheating problem, and my computer is in working condition.

Well, until recently, I found an old hp laptop to my father and he let me keep. I know he has had some problems in the past, so I went online and found ways on how to fully factory reset, I tried many tricks and tips, but none match the menu or options. What I'm trying to understand, is how to CORRECTLY and accurately factory reset Pavilion dv5, which runs on Windows 7 Home premium.
