Hi @bair ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook dv6-2155ee and overheating problems. Here is a link for troubleshooting overheating on the laptop.

I recommend to restore default BIOS. You can restore the BIOS with this document by selecting reload the default BIOS settings. This will restore all the settings back to the original if something has updated and working properly with the fans causing overheating.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

    Hello Ridderz97,
  • Pavilion dv6-2155dx: need to fix the card wifi for dv6-2155dx

Hey guys. I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx with a Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 wifi card. The card was to die for a long time now and about to go off completely. All other PCs and phones connect properly to the internet here, except that this laptop connects, but drops to around every 15 minutes, limited connectivity or so and I have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on to operate for another 15 minutes. Its incredibly annoying and I need help to make sure that I have buy the correct replacement so that it will work. Here is the info I have:

    HP Pavilion dv6-2155 x
    No. WA781UA #ABA

Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 wifi card
    Running Windows 7 64-bit OS
All the drivers are up to date, the computer is free of viruses, spyware, etc.

Basically, I need to know if there is a model specific card Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 that came with this laptop that I need order. I've seen several different of these cards for sale online, but they have all the different numbers and I just need maybe a link or something to show me the exact replacement I need.

Thank you very much for your time and help!

    Yes, you need this one

    https://www.Amazon.com/Intel-5100-512AN_HMW-wireless-572507-001/DP/B00O0GG1L2

The maintenance manual does not list a Centrino Wireless - N 1000 card. You must not only the correct chip, but he must have a part number of HP. Probably your card has this number on it, on a label or on the label that the number of "SPS" and it will be 6 numbers and a dashboard and then three other number 001 usually.

The 5100 card is dual-band 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz so is in fact a better map and will work.

  • HP Dv6 Pavilion 3100us: laptop overheating

Product name: hp pavilion dv6 3100us
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I would like to start by saying as I type this on my laptop HP Pavilion Dv6 3100us... I am in courses run to 84 * c. I've defragmented my hard drive. I took more than 100 GB on my hard drive. Even, I opened my laptop and made a careful cleaning of it all the way to the motherboard 3 times in the month! Not only I already checked the programs running in the background and follow-up. I also changed my power supply for the power saving mode options which makes my state minimum processir 5% and my max as 5%. I also am 95% positive that my bios and all my drivers for this computer is up to date. This computer isn't old yet I got it around 2013.
    My speculations are the following:
    500GB hard drive
    2.1 GHz
Processor of AMD N950 Quad-Core (5650 to be exact)
    Windows Pro 64-bit 10
    x 64 bit processor low
    8 GB Ram

I'm so confused. I want just a normal laptop, so I can bring one to school and have full confidence that I hear a * beep * fan in a college class...

Thanks for the advice in advance.

    HI @vince1234567890,.

    Thank you for your query.

I understand that you have a problem of overheating and you've cleaned the book 3 times in the last month.  You have defragmented your hard drive and removed 100 GB to free up space. You have also changed the power settings and checked for background programs running.

You think you have the latest version of the bios installed.  When I checked the updated BIOS, although there is none listed on Windows 10 are 2 under Windows 7.  Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant , which should help in this process.  You can manually download the updates from the Pavilion dv6-3120us software page and the pilot.

  • ExpertDay query-overheating problem with my Pavilion DV6

    Mr President

First of all, thank you for holding this meeting online.

The laptop in question is only a Pavilion DV6 6121tx with product # QB367PA bought the India

The problem is that the Palm becomes too hot after 10-15 min of use. Please note that it is not a problem with the fan/radiator because they are new and the thermal paste is also cool. CPU and GPU temperatures are quite fine and are cool.

My doubt is what we call the PCH, which becomes too hot. JFYI, the PCH is located just below the palmrest area that becomes hot...

Please take a look at the snapshot

My apologies for the bad image. That's why I removed it.

I agree with chipset problem. I think indeed that this chip is the 'problem '.

Also, be aware that your laptop is not designed to play games.

OK I agree that this laptop run most of the games but it will warm up as a side effect.

    However,.

I searched for information on the PCB and the maximum temperature is...

The PCH may not work above
    + 108 ° C.

    (Page 239)

This is the reason why it took so long

You can find it here. Be warned!

I think it is a mistake to small design. but it's not going to kill your laptop.

If your continuous pch to 100 for a long time, then you can leave the rest of the laptop for a while.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook (bought year 2009 I was working in Qingdao in China as corporate PC) has started making a noise when using, it started about a month there is early December.

I tried restarting several times but its abnormal continues and I am concerned about it a lot--feeling that it will be broken, sooner or later.

  • CPU fan stops spinning after reaching 75 OC on HP Pavilion dv6-6169er

My HP Pavilion dv6-6169er (Core i5 2410M and AMD 6770 M) overheating in games or other heavy duty applications. The fan works fine until the temperature reaches 75 OC. After that it shuts down completely. The only way to get new spin is to stop the laptop and wait for it to cool down. If I try to turn it on before he gets cool I get a right system fan error after bios initializes.

This laptop is 1 year old and my warranty has expired, so I'd appreciate any help.

I thought it was dust or something like that so I disassembled the computer. But it was quite clean inside (good job HP actually!). The only thing I have not tried, it replaces the thermal interface.

Someone at - it had similar problems? It seems that the fan stops turning due to overheat (can't imagine anything more stupid). Thanks for any help in advance!

    Good job...

BIOS HP has been "dumbed down" - some of these typical options, we can if expect to see in a BIOS are not available.  We can speculate on the reasons.

Time of development of the system: replace all what you can without breaking something else.

If you are going to take seriously on parts snatching (continued), make sure you have a backup of the complete picture.  The Windows backup and restore program that will do it for you.  The version of Windows 7 is pretty good; I have an image still fails.  You can depend on the recovery disc for the recovery of the OS, even if these can be a little less reliable (in MY opinion) AND, of course, we must make them in the first place - so many people think that these things AFTER the fact.  The smile.  I am ex - IT... I think that the best backups.

Here is a complete backup solution that has recently caught my attention - little of these things done because for some reason, they always fall into disgrace (failure at work, difficult, complicated, cost money, irritating, stranger, not Linux...).  You could take a look and see if it looks like something interesting.  For Windows / Linux.

Redo backup - recovery - Bare Metal Restore

    ===================================================================================

If you can get a cooler under this area, you might be able to shatter the CPU spent 50% until you can get things repaired... The typical cost of these things is something between US $20 and more.  Think in the range of US $50, one who possesses a fan with variable speed, one On / Off switch and some level of craftsmanship that will last longer than necessary so that the shipping box to take to the recycling bin.  For so much money, you can even get two fans - number of fans is NOT important as the quality, placement of fan and quality, building product, and you think of the overall unit - looks, weight, size, material, feel.  It's not rocket science - just expect to see a BUNCH of refrigerators on the market and expect to spend a few minutes by selecting one you like.  The smile.

I appreciate the comments - and others will, too.  "A picture is worth" and all that.  Many people have problems similar to this one - Visual AIDS are useful.

    Good luck!
