Pavilion dv6 - 7013cl - black screen with caps lock led flashes constantly at startup.

The laptop was running hot. I cleaned the dust from the fan area. The battery is bad. I checked the voltage on the charger that was 43v - bought a new charger is 18.5 v. I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I have now a black screen with the cap lock key blinks blue continuously and the f12 key led light ceases to orange. Any suggestions what I should try next and which snaps the seeing Cap continuously flashes means - that is a code or have a meaning?

  • HP Pavilion laptop g6: black screen with white cursor, connect

My laptop is a few years old and today after I log in, I get a black screen with a white cursor. I read a few threads on the forums and have tried to take the battery out and pressing the button for 30secs-2mins (tried twice). I can access everything ok in Mode safe, so made a malware bites scan & clean registry. No maleware was found and I rebooted, but always the same black screen when you connect in normal mode. I tried to access the Advanced tab in the BIOS to make the test hardware, but I do not have this tab. I'm out of ideas. Help, please

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

As it works OK in safe mode, then it's SOMETHING that is loaded at startup which is screw up the display.  Could be a runtime program. could be drivers, might be a Service.

    No easy way to tell.

Demarrer start in safe mode, type MSCONFIG in the start area.  When that opens, turn off ALL startup items. Reset.

The PC now work, if one (or more) of these numbers - and you have to go through a tedious process of re-enabling them one at a time until the PC fails again.  The last of them that you re-activated was the problem.

Here is a tutorial on how to do it: http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/

If the PC still does not work with all startup items disabled, then return to msconfig and click on the Services tab.  Check the hide services Ms.  Then turn off half superior Services.  Reset.

If the problem is resolved, you will need to go through a tedious process of reactivating a Service at a time until you find the one that is the problem.

If the problem is not resolved, turn off the other half of the services.  Repeat as above.

    No easy way to do...

    Good luck

  • Unresponsive, black screen with mobile mouse, Odd blue lines during startup (Vista 32)

First a little background seems to be in order.

At first my problems seemed associated GPU. Play games would often result in freezes after explosive and muzzle flash effects. The entire computer freezes, pixel green and pink lined the edges of most objects. The only solution was to turn it off and restart it manually.

The problem persisted in programs like the use of the internet for non flash based sites average.

In Device Manager, I noticed a few red flags on my graphics card and problems with my drivers (I've updated my drivers recently, but after the initial problems) but I couldn't find a way to remedy the situation.

Now start is messed up. The loading with green bars screen has shifted but evenly spaced blue lines on the entire screen. It takes a lot of time on this screen before the end. After that, it becomes a blank black screen with only my mouse visible and usable.

All I can do is to move, clicking does nothing.

Startup Repair seems to be corrupted on my computer from a previous problem, because it no longer works and a few start up via F8 options I tried show no effect.

    Safe mode shows no difference.

I'm sure if the GPU is a part of the problem, but I have a nVidia 9800 GT.

    -Thanks in advance.

By using the Vista recovery disc did fix my computer.

After some trial and error, with execution of the various options for disk based, I finally got a restore point for work and now my computer is working again (I am actually posting about it right now!)

I couldn't get startup repair to make no progress, nor could the repair options do much.

But I was able to restore for some time in mid-August and I hope I can keep this race.

I still have the blue lines when you start upward, but they appear not anywhere after that. I think that the root of my problem lies in my graphics card because my computer does not show that any evidence that I'm using a (cannot run games) and the device manager says that the device has been disabled due to a problem (code 43).

But I'll leave a thread in the hardware forum where it belongs.

Thank you all for your help, it is appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6031eo - black screen (backlight problem)

I ve bought a new laptop Pavilion DV6-6031eo 2 weeks ago, and it worked fine until today.

    The question:

When I turn on the laptop, it starts as usual and the system works perfectly, but the screen is black, so I can´t use it, unless you use another monitor, think I Don t want to. I think it has something to do with the backlight, or perhaps the retroeclairages cable routes.
HP logo at the back of my screen used to light up when I turned on my laptop, but now it s too messed up.

No backlight and no light in the HP logo.

I ve sent an email to HP TotalCare, since I got my warranty (lasts 1 year) and I would like to know if they will cover it.

Hopefully, I will get a response as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

PS: Sorry for my bad English. I m of the Denmark, so it s not my mother tongue.

    Hello

Guaranteed that you have on this model it will cover for you and your English is very good.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-2008eo: black screen

After downloading Windows 10 my work computer stop, black screen and I can't turn it on.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

    * Scenario1 * if you press the button to turn on the computer and it does nothing (no light, no sound, no picture on screen) that sound like a hardware problem and is less likely to be caused by Windows 10.

    * scenario2 * if you press the power button, the computer starts (it has little light on the screen) but the screen is black and white (but working) happened after Windows upgrade 10, then it's software caused by the bad update of the new operating system (defective or full).

Here's a full article on the startup problem. It's very good details and covers pretty much everythng. Please, read and follow the instructions. Even though it says Windows 8.1, it is applicable for Windows 10, so > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03515402

If the problem is as scenario 2, I guess you can use the built in the recovery of the computer partition so that you restore the computer and Windows if you default factory and get back to work. Information and instructions here:

  • HP Pavilion Elite e9220y PC, black screen with blinking underscore.

Hello. I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9220y with Windows 7. I have a black screen with a flashing underscore.

I stood and went to the bathroom and came back to this (on fiance mobile atm). If I go, I can do ctrl + alt + delete and get everything except the system recovery... so I made a recovery CD.

In the recovery CD, I get the options to
    Startup Repair
    System restore
    System Image recovery

    Windows Memory Diagnostic
    Command prompt.

I have everything but my mouse, screen and keyboard connected. No CD in except for the recovery CD.

Startup Repair found nothing, so I tried to restore the system... He said it restored to an earlier date, but I get the same screen and the same options... So I tried the following steps:

Boot from the new rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line. When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

Remove the rescue CD and try to restart now.

Above always leads to have the black screen with the underscore flashing with the same options available... I'm so lost...

If possible, I'd like to back up my files I have. I have plans on my computer that I spent working long hours and lots of family photos. BUT if this is not possible (I have not access to a second round to save the files), then I'm more than willing to start again... I want to just that my computer back... I have not even had it for three years yet.

So any help to get back on the rails would be greatly appreciated... Thank you in advance.

  • black screen with no cursor or available bios

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop, which seems to agree, but has a black screen with no cursor.  The fan runs for a few seconds and flashing lights show near the top right the keyboad and cap lock button.  I pulled the hard drive and tested ok and tried to move the memory with no luck.  I also tried the trick to reset by turning off the power switch for a minute.  I searched this forum and anywhere on the internet that I could find, and all I could gather was that it is not uncommon, but no one seemed to have an answer.   The cmos battery cause this?  I always have one battery to verify, but it's a different style and I have to order a.  This computer is about two years old and with Vista.

Never mind! Looks like you got.

  • Satellite X 205-SLi3 - black screen with the mobile mouse at startup

I have a computer laptop X 205 - Sli 3 satellite, which is a little more than a month and running windows Vista. (let me know if the exact specifications make a difference)

Yesterday morning my laptop was working fine, I arrested him at home because I need to take to work with me to get some files there. However, when I tried to turn it back on all I got was a black screen with cursor mouse mobile white dead center. I saw other posts with similar problems, but no solutions.

Loads everything up as normal at the beginning: I get the Toshiba load screen (this allows me to make changes to the boot from there with F2, F8, F12 or, but none seems to have no effect) and I get the little green loading bar of Microsoft just before the screen blinks a few times and then turns black except for the white mouse. The touchpad, Capslock and scroll lock keys * are * admissible, but the function keys and Ctrl + Alt + Delete to do * not * work. There is no way to stop the laptop at this point without maintaining the power button.

I tried to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, only to get exactly the same result after Windows loading bar. (only a lower resolution on this beautiful Virgin high-def screen mouse cursor). I activated the boot record, nothing, I tried to start with the "last known good configuration", nothing.

I tried windows repair options: repair system, System Restore (it * was * a windows update just before restore point in my laptop screwed up and I m wondering if that has something to do with it because it was the first time the computer was turned off since the auto update installed... but get an older restore point does not help) , as well as the windows memory diagnostic tool. Everything is displayed normally but still black screen after the loading bar Microsoft...

I also tried the debug mode, and directory services restore mode just for the heck of it - each time the black screen of death.

I even put in the Toshiba recovery disc and put my laptop to boot from the CD rather than the HD (it gives me the same options by pressing F8 and go to repair are starting only I didn't have to put my admin password)

The only thing I can think that I n t done is format my whole hard drive, I know that this is not always a solution, and I prefer to keep all my school and work files if possible. Fortunately I am able to get into the command prompt BACK and some of the most important things am copy on a USB key, but I'll still probably lose all my programs and larger files.

    Someone had a similar problem?
If so, what was the solution?
I would call all technical support, but I won't have time until after the new year to spend on the phone and I have a feeling that their solution will be to format and use the recovery disc.

Man, such an expensive machine and then all this work of wouldn because of some software sh... So, if you have backed up your most important files, then, I would _recommend_ you to recover your machine. Won´t solve you anything just trying to find the error, believe me, you'll go nuts.

Just put the recovery in the drive and start the process of "delete-all-my-programs-but-protect-my-nerves-and-make-everything-OK".

    Welcome them

  • Black screen with blinking cursor! tried everything!

OK, so this is going to sound familiar.

I was on my computer when (it seems that windows update force rebooted my system) my computer rebooted in the middle of doing me stuff, got the windows stop screen.  When it restarts I got was a black screen with a blinking cursor.  The only options on the splash screen that works are the program installation, diagnosis and menu start. For some reason, hit F11 to restore the system does nothing and it will pass just to the black screen. Another strange note is that simply type the power button it will stop, I don't need to keep it.

    (1) I went into the bios and restored the default values.

    (2) I called they sent me a microsoft repair disc.

    (3) I tried the Startup Repair, which would have finished enough instantly and tell me that no problem has been detected and if I recently fixed a device, remove and restart. Everything is attached are the mouse/keyboard factory.
    (4) I've tried many system restore points and they all failed. nothing has worked and all generated the error: (0x800700b7)
    (5) I made this

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

When the pc still doesn't load, I put the repair back disc in and got an error message windows boot files where invalid and had the ability to repair and restart or cancel.  After trying blaze these and try several BCD I built always get the same flashing cursor.

    (6) I reloaded windows on a separate hard drive and scanned all viruses, checked the drive to see if there was even loaded windows (out of curiosity because nothing works)

    (7) so everything is saved, but I have 5 years of programming, I don't want to lose or reload due to the download time.

Is there anything I can try that will work?

    Windows 7 64 bit

HP Pavilion AMD phenom processor 4 cores.

motherboard, power supply, gpu, amd chip, all works with a different hard drive, but I really really really don't want a fresh reload

    Please haaalllppp

  • I have the virus of file recovery, now I have a black screen with cursor blinking in the upper left corner.

I have a Pavilion Notebook and recently caught the virus from file recovery.  I bought and ran the disc of Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security.  Now, I get a black screen with a flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the screen.  All tests ran for memory, hard disk, etc. are OK.  Now I have a recovery disk, but have not backed up my files.  Any suggestions?

Download your backed up files, then you can boot from your recovery disks to reinstall Windows.Several options to do so.

Remove the hard drive and attach it to one > USB adapter . Plug it into another computer via usb port and copy files off the power.

You can use > Ubuntu Live CD to boot from and backup files.

OR ->Kaspersky CD has the ability to back up files.

  • Black screen with cursor environment

    Hello

My PC is about 2 weeks old and he already has problems starting. When you push the power button, the usual 4 colored dots that form the Windows logo is created, and the text "Starting Windows" is displayed. Then she leads to a black screen with the cursor in the Middle, in most of time mobile. AND IT JUST SITS THERE. I waited 10, 20, 40 minutes and nothing happened. So, I forced a stoppage. The second time worked well, fortunately. This happens almost every day, and it becomes a nuisance.

The second question is when I managed to connect to Windows and Office looks very good. Suddenly, the monitor would go black and he would say "go to sleep" as if she were to lose the signal. But all cables are secure, and the HP LV2311 monitor is less than one month.

I do not touch anything inside the pc other than the fans when I went to check if everything was safe. I also installed most of the drivers from the HP Support Web page, virus scans with Kasperky and restore the computer to an earlier time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
