Pavilion dv7-4080us overheating

Greeting,

Over the last 3 months or more I have a problem with my laptop. It is still super hot, make 80 just using browsers and almost 100 c during the game (it is shut sometimes.) Already cleaned the vents, updated the bios and still its heating. I can hear the wind making a lot of noise, but does not seem to be coolin anything. Is anyone having the same problem I am? What should I do to solve it?

Thank you

(my cpu temperature)

A lot of notebook cooling problems occur due to the bad design radiator, bad radiator installation, and the baths of shit pads hp uses.  More on a machine with a high-performance processor, the thermal paste dries up and transfers is much heat.

The solution is to remove the entire fan and heatsink of heat and remove the thermal protection and clean all the old thermal compound off the chips as the seat cushions on.  Replace thermal pads with thin copper pcs.  The thickness of the copper is crucial.  You don't want gaps with the fan in place, but you don't want to not so tight that the fan puts pressure on chips when you tighten it down.  Once the copper is mounted correctly, a drop of arctic silver thermal paste on each side of the copper shims should be enough to spread evenly over the surfaces.  Put too much glue on defeated the purpose of the dough.  Pennies can probably be used to make the copper shims, just be sure they're old copper pennies and not the new zinc ones.

It is hard work and not for the faint of heart.  But it will significantly reduce the heat generated by the chips.

Obviously, change whatever it is inside your laptop will probably be empty all the guarantees, but if you want a cooler machine management, it's the only way I found to do.

  • Fingerprinting and display does not work after the recovery of the system (Pavilion dv7 4080us)

    Hello.

This weekend I decided to do a restore of the system on my Pavilion dv7 4080us (LW170UAR), as I have done several times previously, using the built-in HP and the recovery etc. partition manager.

Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and everything worked OK with the new facility, with the exception of two things:

    • I don't see my AMD display driver listed on device listing Manager. Only 'Intel HD Graphics Family' is listed under graphics cards. I tried to download the drivers from the support page, but it doesn't help.
    • The fingerprint reader does not work. I tried to uninstall the drivers and software several times, rebooting and everything else I've seen that suggestions on these forums, with the files found on the support page of my laptop. No luck yet.

I would appreciate any kind of help. Thank you!

Excellent!  I am happy that you now have the correct drivers installed.

August 7, 2014, my PC Pavilion dv7 stopped working and I took it to Best Buy, where the problem resulted in a bad cord.  I bought a spare for $58,84 power cord at this time.

In December, I received an email from Hewlett-Packard communicate me of the recall program.

I called the telephone number explaining that I wanted to get a refund for my power cord, because I had been forced to buy a power cord prior to notification of the publication.

After having been approved around Department to Department and seen a few different numbers to call - with no satisfaction, I turned on this forum for help.

It is true that I am just stuck?  Even if my power cord was really faulty, because I needed my power cord until HP Announces I want just the cost to cover me?

Someone on this forum had this experience?

  • Pavilion dv7-4080us: upgrade or replacement for dv7 4080us video graphics card

I want to know if I can upgrade the memory of my HP dv7-4080us graphics card. He did an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB of DDR3 memory with up to 3738 MB total dedicated memory graphics card. What this means? I can put more memory or repalce the card? If so, what card should or can I get?

There is no 'card' you might be imagining. The video is one of the dishes chips soldered to the motherboard. You already have the best video system available for dv7-4000 series of laptops, so there is no way upward to something better.

  • Pavilion dv7-4080us laptop, Windows 7. Adding a keyboard and an external display.

I added a Samsung LED HDMI monitor and it works.  I added an external keyboard via USB and it works.   However, when I close the laptop screen/lid on my laptop, the computer shuts down.  How can I close the laptop lid/screen and keep the computer running?  I want to place the external keyboard on top of my laptop because my desktop space is limited.  Thank you.

To be able to close the lid of the laptop and continue to use the external monitor, you have to change the power settings.  Follow these instructions.

    1. Right-click on your desktop.
    2. Select"customization".»
    3. Then select screen saver at the bottom right.
    4. In the menu of the screen saver, select "change the power settings.
    5. On the left side you will see "change the closing the cover.
    6. Select this option and change the settings you want.
    7. Finally, in the power of change settings menu you can change your power plan (when connected to the top) so it works more like a desktop computer and hard drives will not shut.

    I hope it's useful!

  • Laptop HP Pavilion DV7 not really hot...

    Product information:

    Name: HP Pavilion DV7-6193

    OS: Windows 8

Changes to the system: Updated, recently reinstalled Windows 8 video card drivers

    Hello

Lately, my laptop has been get very hot and the fan is really loud, even if I do things as little as surfing the internet, for the moment, I closed all the non-essential programs in the Task Manager I do not use, and turns at 70 degrees (Celsius) sometimes still warmer upwards to 80 degrees (Celsius) while watching videos on Netflix. When used for games, it goes up to 90 degrees. This has happened for a while now, before even to update my video card driver, so I eliminated that as a possible reason. I tried to put it on the mode or balanced in energy saving mode, but not much changes if anything. I disabled switchable graphics problems with no switch cards AMD I have inside (uses Intel on switchable) so I took off switchable graphics for game reasons. I have a cooler laptop that I use, but just worried, why it is not so hot for not heavy use any. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

As your laptop HP Pavilion dv7-6193 Entertainment is two to three years old, you want to maybe blow out the vents with a can of air compressed. When the dirt is trapped in the vents, it reduces the efficiency of the cooling system. This can cause the fan to the race as it tries to cool the CPU. Finally the system is overheated and shut down to protect themselves.

  • Power adapter - HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ

    Hello

I bought the HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ, and it stops itself almost instantly after the initialization of the operating system (just at the moment where the HP Setup programs starts). I have two suggestions for this topic:

    1. the CPU heats too quickly and the protection of the motherboard turns on and off the computer.

2 in the specification of the product, I noticed the power adapter must have 120 W power (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01997646), but I received with adapter 90 W (adapter fault current may have been replaced by the Distributor, I don't know), and what I think, is that it does not provide the computer with enough power so it shuts down. What I mean, is there a strict rule on food and their use adapters (specified model should be used with the adapter specified etc..)

Can you guide me I just think, or there might be another problem.

I was looking for an explanation on the closure and the motherboard overheating protection seemed reasonable to me. I was wondering is this a common problem or I am luck one of perhaps hundreds of thousands made notebooks with Core i-5?

I removed the battery and left it on the power adapter, but it's the same thing.

I did not understand you completely clear. You mean that even with less powerful adapter(>120 Watts) the laptop should work well, and the battery should be charged, but for once more. Or should I contact my supplier and only get the right adapter (120 Watts).

    Best regards

Contact your provider and ask so he could be replaced by the model in the specifications of the laptop. The 90 Watt power adapter will work, but this isn't what has been specified to be included in the purchase.

I suggest that you try a hard reset

Remove the battery and the AC adapter.

Press and hold the power adapter for > 15 seconds.

Plug the power adapter (with the battery always off)

    Press the laptop power button.

Your laptop is now boot into Windows?

    If it is not then

Press the power button and press the F8 key to enter the BIOS.

If you are able to enter the BIOS and make the memory test.

Please post your results here in your thread.

    HP laptop shutdown document.

  • Pavilion dv7-6b63us: update Bios

I have a Pavilion dv7-6b63us laptop.  I went into the Windows in file Explorer folder, msinfo32.exe entries in the search block and found that my Bios version is dated F.02 03/10/2011.  Then, I went to the section drivers and downloads for HP software and clicked on the Bios, and they showed a version of Bios F.1C dated 18/02/2016.  I downloaded the version F.1C and save my download folder.  It is safe for me to install this version of Bios on my laptop?  I read somewhere that you could be in a lot of trouble if you install a version of Bios that is not intended for your computer.  Can someone make sure it's OK to go ahead and install the Biso F.1C version?

If the fan does not work, then it sounds like a bad fan sensor or a bad connection going to the sensor.

The upgrade of the BIOS will not solve the error message fan you are experencing. In addition, it is not recommended that you upgrade the BIOS if the fan is malfunctioning under the fan kicks in full throttle during the upgrade as a precaution. If the fan does not work and you upgrade the BIOS and overheating of the computer will power off computer and will be probably corrupted BIOS and brick your computer.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 1130el goes black

Hi everyone, it's my old laptop, hp pavilion dv7 1130el purchased 5 years previously, there always wokerd very well, but now the screen goes black without reasons... at first I thought it might be overheating, but it is completely random:

-sometimes works even when is hot

-sometimes goes blackafter I turn it on and then open google

-sometimes works for some time, when its not hot and then goes black

I don't have a second monitor to connect it, but even if the screen goes black I can still hear the music of youtube, so I guess it's just the screen.

HP Pavilion dv7 1130el, Windows 7 ultimate, runned fine for a year with this OS.

    Thank you!

OK, I solved the problem of cleaning the computer laptop, also changed the thermal paste.

    Thank you very much

I have no viruses, checked for any material conflics and found nothing Device Manager.

The behavior looks like an overheating problem.

By chance, have any of you tried to use canned air to blow out the vents with?

The graphics card and processor are more deeply in the unit. While the events may appear not necessarily immediate sings, there might be dust accumulate more in is not normally visible. • HP Pavilion dv7 - 4157cl

my hp Pavilion dv7 - 4157cl turns on but does not display. the monitor is completely black.

I connected an external monitor and still no display.

    Mahemac,

Thanks for your reply and input. The device belonged to a friend.

I opened the unit to check the fan cooling and the video card. It turns out that the cooling fan has been discolored by overheating and corroded. I thought that the video card was also damaged and consecuently the motherboard. So instead of investing in a complete motherboard repair, we opted to just buy a new laptop.

My experience with HP is not very positive. HP has a history with very bad monitor, video and cooling problems.

You really need to move to more reliable components.

    with respect and honesty.

I bought a cooling package to help with the overheating, which helped. How can I get rid of this error message? Post here or join my email [email protected]. Thank you.
