  I have two question about upgrading my laptop. I use it for web surfing, movies, some excellent/word work etc... for the most part on a regular basis.

  (1) I have seen that my RAM can be upgraded to 8 GB. Currently, I am working at 1333 MHz 4RAM. If I buy 2 x 4 GB 1600 MHz will it work on this laptop, I went into the BIOS and have not seen that I can change the speed of ram anywhere nor has seen how much can this support for portable computers, so should I buy 1x4Go 1333 MHz instead if it only supports 1600 MHz.

  (2) can I put my disk HARD 700 GB Seagate 5400 RPM SATA II 3.0 Gbps with Samsung 850EVO 250 GB SSD? I know that SATA III drives are retro-compatible meaning can work on SATA II but is it useful, how much speed will I use if my laptop does not support SATA III.

  It will not run at 1600 mhz just so buy another 4 GB of DDR3-1333 memory. The SSD is the best upgrade you can do. Certainly worth. SSD SATA-III will work fine on a SATA-II bus. There is very little difference in actual operation.

  Find it me hard to believe that it is a BIOS problem.

  I suspect that your SSD is not configured correctly.

  If you have access to another Windows Office that has a SATA port, you can connect the SSD and put up with the diskpart utility.

  If you still have problems with it after trying that, then return it to the seller and get a Samsung EVO 850 sata SSD.

  Consider yourself lucky that your SSD is not the new kind of NVMe m2. They are not easy for novices in installation and compatible only with the new types of BIOS and systemboards.

  I'm having a weird behavior with Signal to simulate and while loops. Attached a photo of my program. The problem I have is that when I use Stop to stop inside while loop, then use to restart the inner loop, simulate Signal instantly generates a bunch of points of data between when I pressed Stop and Go. By example, if I stop for 5 seconds, wait 5 seconds, then press Go, it will instantly generate data for t = 5 t = 10. What I need is for the generation of signals to stop when I press stop and continue where it left off when I press Go. How can I accomplish this?   I restarted my computer and my HP Mediasmart icon in the taskbar is empty, when I click on it windows says it can't open because that its been moved, renamed or deleted. But the show task up if I right click on it like watch a dvd, listen to mp3's, see, modify or download photos, see modify or download videos. (all links in the task too much work) Then trying to understand the problem, that I thought I could basically icon/link to pull a bit of my HP Dock in the taskbar hoping it would be duplicate and appear in the taskbar. But to the contrary after leaving the dock and release the mouse button, it disappeared. How do I trouble the white icon and pick up the other icon in the dock? I pulled the HP Mediasmart icon directory .exe file and it is stuck in the dock, but it works the same. The original had an arrow below and if I clicked it, a drop-down list with all tasks would come down. With that I pulled from the directory that I have to click on it and then a new bar appears with different icons for each task.

  Well I solved the problem with the taskbar, I downloaded the hp mediasmart smartmenu, went into the directory and PIN to the taskbar. But I still can't one of the docking station will work as before.

  Hi and thanks again for the rear display.  If you can do it is no longer a restoration following options is a complete recovery of the system, return to the original configuration.  You want to back up all your information before you do.  Once it starts it will wipe your system clean.

I went to start and it starts very slowly due to a gray screen just sat there for about 30 seconds and then it shows the apple logo and it takes another 15 seconds to load. I used SuperDuper to clone my my SSD HARD drive and installed the SSD and it starts normally. The only issue was the gray screen. I've heard that I need to go into system preferences and select Startup disk, then my boot drive, but there is no choice. Help, please.

  Adil is correct. The RAM and hard drive are considered "replaceable consumer units", which means Lenovo allows not only, but expect end users to manage any updates of these components by themselves.

A SATA 500 GB of data and an SSD 128 GB containing the operating system and other programs.   The SSD drive that contains the operating system failed.  When I install the replacement SSD, I intend to use the HP System recovery DVD (2) which came with the unit.  If I load the recovery disks will be erase/format all my data-files in the 500 GB drive.

  The new drive is "naked".

  I just remove the second disk while making the recovery operation and slap it in when the process is complete. Better safe than sorry. Theoretically, the recovery disks will not affect the second drive, but it's really easy to be sure that they will not be 100%.
