  • HP Pavilion G6: replacement hard drive on hp pavilion g6

Im trying to replace a hard drive on a HP pavilion G6 model number is G6 2239dx so I looked hard drives compatible with this model number that I did not buy directly from HP for a heavy sum. I found the other G6 drives with different model numbers, now I know that I certainly need the model number to order the Pack recovery but on the hard drive. It is somehow specific model number or can I use a hard drive from a 1B79dx of G6 G6 model number or any other g6 also. I'm new on this and do not want to buy something I can't use and have not been able to find clear information, I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated!

    Hello

Basically you can use any standard laptop HARD drive. But please use Hitachi or Toshiba. HP machines use Toshiba HDD much. You don't need special HARD drive to your machine.

    Kind regards.

  • Pavilion dm4, replacing hard drive

    So, I have a HP Pavilion dm4 1165 c: windows 7 64 bit, around a Yes and a half old.

A week before, the hard drive suffered a kind of permanent fatal event and quietly left this death spiral.  If you want to know: any type of shoe was impossible.  System recovery could not even see the drive, an external drive could not speak of it, and it crashed to any machine that has tried.  I had to send it to data recovery - they tell me that the reader has hard errors and at least one of the drive heads does not.  They will be able to pick up stuff for me, but the reader is a loss (yes I know, I know - I should have backed up).

So in my opinion it - I have two problems to solve.  1. I need a new hard drive.  2 - I need stuff to put on my hard drive (it came with nothing - I don't have the disc for the operating system, drivers, nothing).  That offer HP which determination of these problems?  How much are these options?  Who should I talk to?  (I tried to call tech support, but there was a bit of a language barrier.  Also, I'm out of warranty, and they want $60 to solve problems before they'll still talk about replacement of hardware and/or software).

    Hello:

You can order a 500 GB hard drive 7 200 to replace your existing one.  You can't go smaller if you want to use recovery disks.

I love this place to order PC hardware.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&N=100007605%20600030594&IsNodeId=1&BOP=and&order=rating&PageSize=20

I'd go with the first listed, but it is up to you. Look at the reviews and the price and choose the one that suits you best.

You can order HP recovery discs. You will need to call them as the link to the website to order them is broken.  Cost should be less than $20.00

You will need the complete model number of your PC. I do not see a dm4 - 1165dm.  I see a dm4 - 1165dx, and you will need to provide the serial number.

If HP has a set of recovery disc for your PC, you can use this workaround to install W7 on your new HARD drive.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

I need to replace the hard drive to my HP pavilion a6803w desktop computer.  Can I get this HP and how difficult is it to replace?  Is there more than one that can be used or is this specific point.  Thank you.

    Jan,

There are several questions to answer to help you fully. The actual process is not only daunting, but you'll need some advice. Please answer each question in order.

    (1) the original operating system, Windows Vista Edition is Home Premium, functional?

    (2) did you do a full recovery of the DVD set (HP recommends on blank DVD + R and CD - R media)?  It usually takes 2-3 DVD + R and CD - R 1. If not and the drive still works, you could get them now. Otherwise, you can buy the disc required here set http://www.computersurgeons.com/SearchProducts.aspx?sbt=a7803w&bkm=Results#Results

  • Pavilion p6367c: replacement hard drive

2nd HD failure in 4 years. 1st in warranty and HP replaced and provided the recovery disks.  Now failed once again and I bought the replacement of 1 TB drive. I did the recovery disks by following the instructions from PC when I got it originally. I made a new copy a couple of days, when I realized that HD should fail again. Question is what disks to use once I have replace the drive in the PC? Can I use the HP sent me the last time in 2011 for the purpose of recovering the system or use the new I burned on DVD a few days ago? They are essentially the same thing? If I remember the last time, the disks configured with partitions HD, reinstalled the operating system, etc. Please notify. Thank you.

    You are the very welcome.

I just think that factory records could have a better chance of working.

Specific no reason why I feel like that, but it's what I would do.

  • HP Pavilion 17: mouse pad does not work after replacing hard drive

    Hello

After replacing hard drive and installing windows 8.1, I can't use my mouse pad.

I installed the Synaptics driver but it didn't help.

How can I check that mousepad device is not damaged when replacing the hard drive and which also can I try to fix the mouse pad?

    USB mouse works fine.

    See you soon

The only way to be sure is to open it up and see if the touchpad cable was disconnected during the upgrade of the hard drive. That's my bet. Easy to forget when you're winding. You don't provide complete model number, but many of the recent models Pavilion 17 require removal of the cover together to get hard disk that requires disconnection of the touchpad cable.

  • How to remove HP Pavilion a1514n desktop hard drive?

I just bought a new desktop computer and need to take my old one at Best Buy for recycling, and I know that they charge to remove the hard drive.

I have opened the case and pulled out the 2 screws that hold the drive hard into the cage and disconnected the cables... but I can't get to the two screws on the opposite side, who seem to hold the drive in place.

Any advice to reach the elusive side? I looked everywhere on the web for the last 5 hours, without success.

Thanks in advance, for advice or tips!

  • A100 replacement hard drive

I saw the other posts on this but no definitive answer.
My HARD drive is dying and needs to be replaced. I see the posotion from the LHS is under the Palm drive and there seems to be one removable flap - other posts say there is only one screw to remove, but there is no visible screws under the machine.

I've changed hard disks on other Toshibas with absolutetly no problem - someone at - it ideas?

    Hello

Replace HARD drive on this laptop is not simply the procedure. I'm not 100% sure, but the entire Palm rest/Touchpad should be removed first. HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw, but you'll see him only if the Palm is deleted.

When this screw is removed, hold the HARD drive tab and pull the HARD drive bracket. Next step is to detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.
The device is quite new and first of all, check if the warranty is still valid.

It is not so easy to change the HARD drive on this model.
You have to remove many parts like keyboard, screen, cover and screw a lot.
It's a little tricky, so you should have experience with this.

As Akuma, go to a local ASP (authorized service provider) has said. They can help you replace the HARD drive.

  • Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.

The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.

I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.

Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.

Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?

    Thank you very much

Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?

I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.

Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.

  • HP ENVY 14 2020NR: need a recommendation for a replacement hard drive

    Greetings,

I have an a HP ENVY 14 2020NR with a hard drive died. Blue several screens before the new year, did a complete system restore, which seemed to have fixed things. Unfortunately, after 10 days the blue screens are back. The unit is several years old, and my next step is to replace the hard drive. I have all the data backed up elsewhere and ready DVD restore disc.

Here are the specs of the drive:

    Hitachi disc HARD 7 K 750-750. P/N H2T7501672S.

I am trying to identify the right replacement hard drive. Looks like it was 750 GB at 7200 RPM. Some choice out there. Can anyone recommend the correct replacement hard drive?

    Thanks in advance!

    DaniBoy

Based on the laptop HP ENVY 14 - Maintenance Service Guide, it seems that your computer supports the following readers and more.

6.35 cm (2.5 in) hard drives (HD) and the SSDS (SSD), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in)
    Customer-accessible
    Serial ATA
Supports the following hard disk configurations:
    ● 750 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 640 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 500 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 320 GB (7200 RPM)

Supports the following simple SSD drive configurations:
    ● 128 GB mSATA,
    ● 80 GB, mSATA
    ● 160 GB, SATA

According to the above information, any hard disk 2.5 "SATA or SSD of 9.5 mm and 7.0 mm profile should work fine. This includes the newer readers who are more capacious.

Please see Newegg - internal laptop hard drivesfor a few recommendations of HDD and Newegg - internal SSD for a certain number of decent SSD.

  • Satellite Pro 2100: How do I reinstall the OS after replacing HARD drive

I have a Toshiba SP2100 and I want to replace the hard drive, but I don't have any recovery CD
So, how can I put the o/s back on?

Try to connect the external HARD drive to the computer via the USB port and try to copy all content from the internal HARD disk external HARD drive. Then you could try to insert the external HARD drive in the laptop.
But I've never tried this procedure and don t know if it will work.

But usually after replacing HARD drive you should boot from the Boot CD as recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
After the installation of clean Windows OS, you can visit the Toshiba drivers and you can download and install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities.
