How to prepare a hard disk

OK, lets check in disk management. Your startup disk will appear a Disk0. Stay out of the way than.

The added disk should appear as Disk1.

Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, then:

  • Click here to open the computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Hello:

All the drivers, specifications and manuals are missing from pages support again.

This happened earlier in the week also.

Another Member of the forum has reported the problem to administrators forum, which will be in touch tour HP, but since I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, I don't know how long it will take to restore the missing data to the support pages.

Whether the weekend will not help much either.

  • Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t: problem with the new HP DH16D5S DVD ROM drive

My office is a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t.  I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  I have two HP optical dirives, one is a writer, and the other is just a DVD ROM  Both have always worked perfectly with Windows 7.  After you have installed Windows 10 continuous burner work very well works correctly with autoplay.  However, the DVD - ROM, HP DH16D5S, immediately began using autoplay.  Actually the drive was not yet recognized as a drive when you view the drives in the file Explorer.  Finally, it would seem, sometimes taking also longer than 5 minutes or more before doing so and then would work very well.  I tried different types of media, including music CD, DVD video and DVD software with the same results.  I assumed that it was a problem with the drive, maybe a bad capacitor, etc., which was originally not start correctly.  So I ordered a new DH160D5S, but which seems to have been a waste of time and money, because it does exactly the same thing as the original.  I even changed the cables autour between it and the burner, but it made no difference.  The burner still works fine but not DVD ROM.  I tried to find a more recent driver for it, but had no chance.  I found on a Dell website for this drive which was an update of the firmware for Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not for Windows 10.  I advanced and downloaded, but when I tried to run, I got the message: "your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.  Update has been canceled. »

I want to try a different brand of DVD ROM, but would have to buy one without knowing if it would help.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Since I posted this message I discovered that there is a driver problem with this DVD ROM.  There's no driver available yet to make the drive compatible with Windows 10.  Since then, I returned the drive and replaced by another brand that is compatible with Windows 10.

  • Windows will not install on the new drive for HP Pavilion Elite m9510f

I have a HP Pavilion Elite m9510f operation with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit SP1 and with a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 HDD of 750 GB.

The HARD drive broke down a few weeks ago and is unrecoverable.

I bought Seagate 1 TB hard drive to replace the 750Go again and used the HP recovery discs provided by HP to wipe the disk and reinstall Windows on it.

I can run all the recovery discs 3 without problem, the computer goes through its paces to reinstall Windows and all of a sudden, the computer stops and I get the message "installing Windows could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

What is happening with this?  I use a HARD drive with recovery disks provided by HP.

HARD drive replacement need to be 750Go like the original?

    Any help would be appreciated

Probably a problem with the hard drive being the new type of AF. Windows 7 with SP1 should work better than Vista... but your Vista key will not work with ISO download linked above.

  • Replace the HARD drive in the new Pavilion Elite HPE-180 t.

I'm not a professional computer, but after 30 years of use, the upgrade and repair PC home and the office, I'm embarrassed to post this thread - but here goes.  I took delivery of a few days ago the new highest indicated HP computer model in the topic of this thread.  The new computer is beautiful and everything worked perfectly from the start.  I decided after a few days to check, everything was fine and proceeded to a few pieces of hardware to transfer from my old Dell (a fairly new 1 t WD SATA HDD on which coied got a lot of data from the former count and a new BD/DVD ROM SATA optical drive).  Everything was fine once I figured out how to get these two drives in the enclosure waterproof on the new computer, but all reconnecting the SATA cable on the main came with the computer HARD disk, I broke up some pins on the HARD drive that made it of course useless SATA port.  I of course take full responsibility and do not wish to get involved with HP technical support to replace the disc - and frankly, I prefer not to put another HDD Seagate support because I prefer a 1 t Cavier Black SATA WD which I believe is one of the most reliable RESEARCH on the market right now, and I can buy it for around $200 instead of the $400 I uknderstand fresh HP for the same size of Seagate replacement.

Here's my question, can I just buy a new HDD WD and install it with my own final Win 7 x 64 without the HP recovery disks (they did not come with the new computer, and I had not yet created my own recovery disc).  Frankly I'd rather have a completely clean install of my Win 7 OS without the HP partition and other HP software on the HARD disk.  Is this possible or HP has some sort of identity with their software which must correspond with the BIOS or something like this?  REALLY, I don't want to return the computer to HP to get called into service because I just started a small business that involves a lot of video editing and I can't be without the computer for weeks, while HP is concerned with him (I've read the horror stories about the high cost of the repairs and the long repair time but I do not wish to keep my warranty if possible).

  • Adding 3rd hard drive for HP Pavilion Elite m9250f

I have a Pavilion Elite m9250f running Windows Vista Home 64 bit. The computer currently has two 500 GB hard drives for a total capacity of 1 TB. I would like to add a third drive to increase storage capacity.  I have a SATA to 2 to and cables. When I tried to install the new drive above the two existing disks, he did not slide smoothly. When I removed the already highest reader, I could slide the new drive into but the screws are not line up properly with the new drive. This leads me to believe that I can not install a third drive in the Bay. Is this a correct assumption?

I have an available expansion Bay below the optical drive but am not sure that it is usable for a hard drive. If the use of the expansion Bay is possible, do I have to buy a hook or how to mount the drive in this space?

If necessary, I can copy the data from the secondary drive on an external drive and replace it with the new drive. However, I need confirmation that the secondary is the player in the foreground of both in the hard disc enclosure.

    Thank you for your help.

If the task under the existing optical Bay is open, just use an adapter to fill the space and to mount the drive in there.  Make sure of course that there is a power cord and a SATA port.

First off let me thank the guy who responds to this advance. It may be a few days before I have the chance again. Sometimes the unknown Warrior keyboard deserves a bit more then they get lol. So, thank you.

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE. I just took my first slap to upgrade certain hardware and now I have a FEVER. I should have noted some things while I was there, but I was a little excited to get it working again. I noticed a few differences in my template to the list for the Pavilion Elite HPE, I found this site, but I should be able to answer your questions with a quick glance to see if it's right. HP presents my motherboard as "MS-7613 (lona-GL8E)" but I'm sure that my Board is a Foxconn version 1.01 Aloe with a 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II x 4 processor.

Then. Here's my question, can I put my 1 TB harddrive to two 2 TB drives? And you have any recommendations on which hard drive I use? I'm new at this and so I don't know I might miss information on this for you, but I think I can answer your questions on hard/software that I use.

  • Adding a 3rd HARD drive to my Pavilion elite m9150f

I have a Pavilion Elite m9150f with a motherboard Asus IPIBL-LB. I have 6 sata ports, but only 4 are currently used. It has Vista Home Premium 32-bit running 2 HARD sata drive seagate 360 with a partion recovery and 2 CD/DVD players. I would add a Seagate 2 TB sata as main drive (C) both a bigger partion (posibly update of OS in the future) 20 to 25 GB for recovery (D) copied to starting from the origanal and reformat it as a temp for videos, etc. I can do this by moving the SATAS after the cloneing and move the optical drives and see MOBO them without having to make all kinds of changes to the BIOS. Thanks for any advice in doing so.

    Hello

If you have already two drives hard and two optical drives, then you will have a hard time to find a place inside the PC to secure the third hard disk.

You could try to use a 5.25 "to 3.5 adapter railsand then fix them and the hard drive down inside the PC. Another option would be to expand the two ports of the vacant motherboard to the I/O back plateand use a drive external eSATA dockthat could accommodate two hard disks that are either 2.5 "or 3.5" or a combination. That would give you great flexibility for the exchange of different hard drives while appearing that they are installed in their own country.

You should be able to use a hard drive imaging product to the new hard drive the current boot drive. If you use VISTA then I would avoid using a disc hard format model advanced unless you know for sure that the disc produced Imaging align correctly partitions. In any case, if you use VISTA then upgrade to service pack 2 and run this update Intel utility before you install the new hard drive. Utility update driver Intel Intel Driver Update Utility level Bios 5.43is the latest bios for your PC.

I use Paragon Hard Disk Manager Suite(eval copy) to make the imagery of my hard drive, but there are other products available. Macrium Reflectand Acronis are also good products.

    I guess I can't install a player?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Hello

Your computer is fairly new, you should be ok, installation of a 1 TB drive.  Older computers may have problems of card motherboard/bios with bigger hard drives.  You can also install a SATA2 drive, but if your motherboard doesn't support SATA drive will just default to this speed (SATA2 is backward compatible).  The player below is to consider.

  • Request help second addition, internal hard drive [HP Pavilion Elite e9290f]

    Hello

Quick question here. I am a music producer and you can always use a ton of extra space as some of my projects are 17 to 20 GB in size. My HP e9290f comes with a stock of 1 TB Seagate (I think) internal hard drive. I intend to add this DeckStar HGST hard 4 TB (7200 RPM)

However, I am not sure, if this drive is compatible with my computer. I talked about the upgrade & maintenance manual but inside, he tells me only how to replace the current internal hard drive. The addition of this amount of space external hard drive is not an option since all my ports are used by external hard drive! Can anyone shed light on what tools I need exactly to connect this HD extra 4TB? I would appreciate your answers, because time is of the essence

    Hello

I have not tested a HDD 4 TB on the motherboard of truckee. In theory, it should work as a data reader set shaped like a GPT disk.

Another option if you don't want to take the risk is to install two hard drives of 2 TB. The one in the location empty in the cage from the hard drive and another in the optical drive Bay (if open) second.  You will need one 3.5 "to 5.25" adapter if you use the optical Bay.

Check on the return policy for the 4 TB harddrive and see if your can return/exchange it if it doesn't work.  Kit retail for Hitachi 4TB has an optional driver if the motherboard of your PC will not format the drive completely outside up to 4 TB.

When I re - install the original HD loaded with Win7, everything works as it
    expected.

Any ideas on what] s going on here?

    Hello:

The problem is that you must incorporate the necessary sata ahci drivers for windows XP to see the hard drive.

Has Windows 7 and XP is too old an operating system to make them.

Read the info at the link below, section of Intel and then read the downloadable PDF document for instructions on how to integrate all the drivers.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-0x0000007B-BSOD/m-p/114120#M17758

The only other way to install XP on this model is to go into the bios, the storage section and change the setting of sata ahci to ide emulation, save the setting here and once again, when you go out.

The problem is that if you do this, you cannot change the setting for the preferred setting of DCIS, unless you know how to install the correct ahci sata driver after installing XP from the controller.  If you try to just change the setting back on ahci without having to install the controller driver, the PC does not start upward.

Try "slipstreaming" the drivers first and if you can't swing, install XP in IDE mode and I'll help you get the drivers installed, so you can change the BIOS to ahci setting.

  • Replacement for HP Pavilion Elite e9250t HARD drive

I get an error message saying "A disk in a RAID 0 volume is a failure".

I plan to replace both drives, currently, to 500 discs with a capacity higher than as 2 TB each. The Pavilion Elite e9250t supports 2 TB disks? And can I install them with RAID, so that my data is protected?

    Hello JMHP,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you have questions about your desktop PC HP Pavilion Elite e9250t supports 2 TB disks and whether or not it supports RAID. According to HP Pavilion Elite e9250t desktop PC product specifications and configurable Options , your computer supports "2 TB (2 x 1 TB) 7200 RPM SATA 3 G (3.0 Gb/s) ' so the answer to your first question is 'YES', it will support a 2 TB hard. As to your second question as to if she supports RAID, indio motherboard (which is what you have) supports the following:

    • Integrated RAID controller: P55 (same as previously introduced application ICH9r RAID)
    • Steps to configure RAID (internal link to setup for P55, even the steps of configuration for ICH10r and ICH9r)
    • Intel RAID solution is called Intel Matrix Storage Technology (outside link)
    • Only some models indio compatible ship RAID (see datasheet for your model). Compatible RAID means that the system is ready to be configured for RAID 0 or RAID 1.
    • Migration from 1 to 0 is supported by material in the world.
    • RAID modes supported *:
      • RAID 0
      • RAID 1
    • Additional resources:

    * NOTE: three hard disks requires a RAID 5 and RAID 10 four hard drives. While the hardware can support other RAID modes, only RAID 0 and RAID 1 modes are supported on models that include this motherboard.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 500f D: SSD replacement for HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500f to original desktop PC hard drive

    Hi all!

I would like to replace the original hard drive came with my desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500f with an SSD, but when I tried, I got the error message that my SSD drive was not big enough. The original hard drive is 1.35 TB. What size an SSD should be to replace the original CT 1.35 supplied with my HP so that I could use the 1.35 disc as my second drive and the ssd as my main drive?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Yes I think a 240 GB SSD would be sufficient.  Using the hard drive for storage is a good idea.

These articles HOWTO HP should be useful.

You should be able to install the SSD in the existing hard drive cage as it is put into service for three hard drives.  Use a 2.5 "to 3.5" adapter.  You also need a SATA data cable.

Don't forget to create the external recovery media and backup your data.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 not recognizing their 'new' capacity of 750 GB HARD drive.

    I have a model of HP Pavilion dv7 - 2173cl with:

    1. Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 CPU processor.
    2. Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit (factory installed Vista update) OS.
    3. 2048 MB is memory.

'SMART' HARD drive imminent failure message received:

    1. Original disc installed HARD is a 500 GB Western Digital model WD5000DBEVT.
    2. SMART two weeks' ago error messages indicating imminent failure of HDD appeared.
    3. A check of the HP Web site checked the error number corresponds to "imminent HARD drive failure.
    4. The message prompted me to 'save' the HARD drive.
    5. I completed a backup of files and an image via the "Backup and Restore" feature backup of Windows 7.
    6. The backup has been to an external Seagate 1 TB USB connected external HARD disk
    7. In addition, I created a 'Windows 7 64 bit system repair disc' using the backup and restore of Windows 7 feature.

    Replacement HARD drive:

    1. I bought a 750 GB (7200 RPM) Western Digital model WD75000BPKX.
    2. When formatting the HARD disk (via the CD of 'Windows 7 64 bit system repair disc') replacement I observed the formatting of the process that the size of the disc HARD has been reported that 500 GB (compared to the actual size of 750 GB).
    3. With the help of the rollback on the CD "repair" feature I restored it (backup on external USB connected HDD image) image.
    4. Later, I check the 'properties' from the 'device' (the new HDD of 750 GB and observed that Windows 7 also pointed out this new HARD drive as a 500 GB drive (compared to a 750 GB drive).

    Site HP Web search:

    1. A search in the Web of HP SP5575, referred to as software download site and 'run' to identify a 'Advanced Format hard drive.
    2. A downloaded execution of and run this software has given rise to the audit that the 'new' Western Digital model WD75000BPKX is an 'Advanced Format Hard Drive.
    3. The site also shows to support a 'Advanced Format hard drive' the "device driver" must be at least version 9.6.01014 Rev: has (the current version is 6.1.7600.16385).
    4. The SP50624 Web site, referred to as software to download and 'run' to update the disk device driver (found in Control Panel/Device Manager/disk drives/Driver/updated updated driver for Windows 7).
    5. I have downloaded and run SP50624 and as a guest 'Update Driver' selected in the Control Panel/Device Manager/disk/disk driver and also "indicated the location where the new driver after 'running' SP50624.
    6. Windows has responded with "the driver is up to date" and selected version 6.1.7600.16385 driver (i.e., would not version 9.6.01014 Rev: A).
    7. The software (e.g., Windows) running on the 'new' unacceptable short slow disk. It is a symptom commonly identified when a disk with 'Advanced Format' works without the drivers appropriate and formatting.

    Issues and options:

    1. Is there a solution that will allow the model of HP Pavilion dv7 - 2173cl to use this 'new HARD drive (a compatible disc HARD driver update that will install or another available solution that will accommodate a HARD drive to Format advanced such as the 750 GB (7200 RPM) Western Digital model WD75000BPKX)?
    2. Or is my only solution regarding the HP Pavilion model dv7 - 2173 cl to buy a 500 GB HDD without 'Advanced Format '?
    3. And finally buy a vintage/new laptop today.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Problem solved.

I solved the problem as follows:

    1. I chose to reload Windows 7 from "scratch" after your positive validation of this approach.
    2. This required me to reload all applications (for example, Microsoft Office).
    3. Note: A reload of the OS and Applications from "scratch" requires access to the "Product Key".
    4. During the initial charging of Windows 7 and the formatting of the 'new' drive Windows 7 provided the possibility to remove the partitions (remove/reorder) that had been affected by the recovery process 'attempt' described above. With the help of this function I eliminated the partitions and 'Add' the "unallocated" space to the overall capacity of 750 GB HARD drive.
    5. After reloading the OS, I checked via 'Properties' that all of the 750Go were present and available - success.

    Thank you for your support.
