Pavilion g6 2320tx: hard drive Partition problem.
I am confronted with a difficulty to partition my C drive. Is not be shrunk below 350 GB. I enclose two screenshots from my PC.
Let me know what I am doing wrong.
You are welcome
I suggest you try the options below, in the order listed.
Turn off a quick start:
Open settings and select System. Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.
In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '. Click on the button Save the settings, and then close all open windows.
Restart the computer and check if you can now shrink the C partition to the selected size.
To disable the system restore option:
Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons". Since the new layout, select the input of the system, then Protection of the system in the left pane. Left click Local disk C to highlight the entry and then click Configure. Fill in the radio button next to "disable system protection, click apply and then Ok to save the change."
Restart the computer and check if you can now shrink the C partition to the selected size.
If it is not always shrink the C partition to the required size, then try temporarily disabling the pagefile as follows.
To disable the pagefile:
Open windows control panel, select the input of the system, and then select advanced in the left pane system settings. Left click Local disk C to highlight the entry and then click Configure. Running, click on the settings button. In the next window, select the Advanced tab and under "Virtual memory", select the button change. Uncheck 'Automatically manage the size of pagefile for all readers' and then check the radio against "No file" button Ok in this window and click on apply then Ok in the previous window.
Reboot the laptop and try to reduce the C partition once again.
Note: When you are done, I would recommend the reactivation of all the options above to new, but definitely re - activate the swap file (just chose the option for Windows to automatically manage the size).

I just got the factory reset disks, my pc is out of warranty... Will be factory reset discs allow me to install the new hard drive into the computer and then it will be as if it was directly from the factory?
I did the resets to factory using partition on computers, but never a reset using the discs... so I hesitate just install HDD without knowing if the reset disks will be re-hard drive partition and install the factory installed software.

Big question. Factory reset disks will allow you to bring the laptop to original settings.
If the hard drive is bad or you replace it for a reason any (like changing for one SSD), you can use the same media to reinstall the OS.
I hope this helps!
I have an old Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022). I just upgraded my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and am preparing to take my 500 GB HARD drive 1 TB. I had to order the disk online and wait to happen.
I always try to understand how to create the arrival of my new HARD drive Toshiba Recovery Partition. I do the same thing for an old book, I handled based on something similar to it's original factory State.
I have reflected on the recovery partition, but does not know how it was created. It is not NTFS. Does anyone have experience in the creation of a Toshiba Recovery on a new HARD drive Partition?
And the help is very appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Recovery partition can be created when you use the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install recovery image. Before the partitions to boot OS install will be automatically created, recovery image copied on a recovery and then partition as last step recovery image installation starts.
A sort of migration of files from one to the other HARD disk is not solution.
Only for laptop with factory will work and the usable recovery partition.
How can I create hard drive Partition in my computer hp laptop 15-p073tx? Please tell...
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are looking for help to create a hard disk partition. I can certainly provide that information! Everything you need to know is in this Microsoft Web site: create and format a hard disk partition
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!
on El Capitan, disk utility does not a new external hard drive partitioning.
When is this corrected? Is there a work-around.
With I TB seagate drive and I cannot partition? It is not useful.
Mac mini end of 2014 2.6 Ghz Intel core i 5
Of course, it does.
Select the drive:
Set how many partitions:
Click on the Add [+] button once for each partition that you want to add. You can set the size using the size field.
Before you start to complain about something, it would be wise to get your facts straight.
I just brought a new toshiba laptop Satellite L670.
I just watched the player and its distribution, but they put the 139g on the d drive,
Is there anyway I can change this?
How do you change it?
I put t recommend that before you didn't create a Toshiba Recovery disk!
You must create this disk to reinstall the OS again in case something goes wrong with the HARD drive partitions
In General, you can change the size of partitions in Windows 7 disk management.
To start disk management diskmgmt.msc term use
I have a Compaq Mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter.
The HARD drive has failed and it is not repairable. However, it seems that the recovery partition is OK.
I want to buy a new HARD drive, install the driver on the netbook, and then use the tools/recovery partition to install windows 7 on a new PC.
So, the question is simple: how to copy the recovery for the new HARD drive partition?
If your hard drive of your laptop doesn't have? If this is the case, what do you mean by the "recovery partition is ok? I doubt that this laptop has two hard disks, so if you are able to see this partition of your hard drive may still work.
You will need a set of recovery disks to restore the partitions on the new drive. If you can start Windows, which you can probably not with a dead hard drive, you can follow these steps if you can get into Windows.
If you are unable to boot into Windows, you need a set of disks. You can order it directly from HP. The number of the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836. If you are in another domain, you must visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your region.
I hope that is useful; have a great weekend!
How can I make a DVD of the restore hidden in my external hard drive partition recovery because I want to recover my toshiba satellite L840 that does not respond directly to my hard drive so I put my laptop to an external HARD drive and then I want to copy a DVD recovery partition
Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.
With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.
Otherwise, you can contact Toshiba, and with the model of the product id number and the laptop for Windows, you can buy a set of disks.
I have little space unallocated and add volume to the C drive. But I'm unable to extend the volume that the option "extend volume" was greyed out. Please suggest how to extend the volume on drive C. I use Windows 8 OS 64-bit unique language.
Differnet reasons extend grey Volume
Here are some situations where a Volume "extend" will not work:
1. If there is no allocated or free space on hard drive or the space is not contiguous and after the partition that needs expansion.
2 users want to extend a primary partition, but there is only a free space immediately after the partition target.
3. If the partition is not a NTFS partition. According to Microsoft, which extends the service volume in disk management only works for a vintage or a NTFS partition.
Try using MiniTool Partition Wizard, which can help you with the problem.

Last March, I bought a Hp Pavilion n211dx-15 and 9 months after I bought it, I had some problems with the RAM because of my eletricity, but I already bought a new pair of ram sticks. I tried to do the system recovery Image minimized by myself because I didn't know it was a problem of ram, in the middle of the installation, the computer froze and the pixels have been going nuts. In any case, when I had the fixed ram, I started the computer and I saw that I had altogether 90 GB of HARD disk space (it comes with a 750 GB HARD drive), the windows installation is fine and all, but my HDD shows that 90GB total and the computer comes with a 750 GB HARD drive , I do not have what to do (if I have to install stuff and HARD drive drivers).
MAN! I thought about it! I clicked on extend the volume and then chose the unallocated space to send C:\\ thank you!
Long story short, OS could not start windows with a missing BOOTMGR message, recovery disc, not work, ordered new HP recovery disks. To cover, I ordered a new hard drive to replace it, with the same characteristics but a 1 Toshiba to.
OK, installed the hard drive and used recovery disks at HP, but when you restart always get BOOTMGR missing error message. Make a new recovery disk for windows 7 64 bit internet and serious on a bootable CD. It starts, but found recovery does not list an OS system on hard drive. Did the hard restart more once, install hardrive checked again, the cables and connections. Took another installation of the HP recovery discs and also led a bootable disc that was to fix the problems with installing a new HHD and activation of the HHD working properly. Working always nothing. Get the same message. Cast recovery manager got into the prompt orders and done a repair of the bootrec nothing / new. Checked the directory and found at the bottom of the list that it lists zero OS System. So, how can I get my hard drive formatted to accept the installation of the OS? Any ideas to try, I have read and tried all the messages, I could very well on this forum. Thank you...
Thanks for the reply, yes my hard drive failed and I installed a new one, but after using the purchased HP recovery disc though HP, showed that a black bootmgr error saying screen was missing.
Found on the HP disks partitioned hard drive, with windows on X:\ but was again start-up C:\ which was just a recovery image. X drive was not complete, he lacked all the drivers and could not activate or change and C disc drive letter. I didn't know how to do this in the command prompt.
Fixed my problem with a windows 7 installation no disc not the recovery disks that came from HP, if all goes well, they will work to reinstall all drivers to the laptop, but we'll see. Used (computer repair) on the installation disk and it repaired the bootmgr. Thanks anyway...
HIE hope you had help wonderful festive seasons.please... my laptop is saying check imminent smart disk which is the first messege it shows after having turned it on... He also tells me tht drive hard problem l shud back up my data...
It is very wise. You need a new hard drive and you need to back up everything while you can. Post back if you need more specific help.
Hi, I had this HP G6 for over a year and guaranteed missed a few months ago. It is the second laptop I got from HP. It was a replacement for my HP 2000 model who broke in less than half a year. It broke now. When I try to start the laptop takes me to the screen of SMART hard disk error hard drive 1 list (301). When I try to take stock of hard disk in the diagnostic system it fails and he gives me this failure ID: 90EC0C - 5 T 5709-MFGH5A-608703. My question is that replace HARD drive would solve this problem? If Yes, what models can replace this with? Should it be as SMART compatible.
Yes replacing the hard drive would solve the problem. You can use any hard drive laptop 2.5 inch SATA; they are the industry standard. All hard drives are compatible SMART and not having CHIP would be like having a car with no lights on dash oil pressure. You can remain in blissful ignorance while the parties fail around you and do you more damage as you keep rolling.
Post back and we can walk helps you purchase, install, and upgrade the software on a new hard drive. It will cost less than US $100... as low as $60, depending on the size and speed.
Never before have I had a problem with a hard drive. I'll go along to watch Youtube plays a game and what ever and the hard drive with just stop working. The light that indicates the disk hard something it's been stuck on but when I arrived in Task Manager there is nothing using the hard disk and its 100%. After a while of this, I have to stop him because he is so locked up. Then, usually when I start it back up I wait because if I immediately she (of a hard disk failure), even if I can make it work if I wait like 15 minutes that I don't quite understand. Also when I try to update the computer he fails to do so and uninstalls the updats and goes back to what it was before. I got this computer a little over a year now, and it really started to hurt. What I'm asking is, if there is anything I can do to fix this or should I just get a new hard drive. At the moment I'm typeing my portable macbook almost 10 years, because it is more reliable than my PC for $ 600 1 years.
Well it appers that I need a new hard drive. I'm not well versed in the language of hard training if im not sure what to buy. Could you recommend something to me. I'm looking to spend $ 50 and I need it to be 250 GB or more. I much appreciated help!
I'm happy to help you.
You can actually buy the same size or larger than the existing hard drive for System Recovery media work. The offered readers when you bought the computer are 1 to, 2-to-3. As indicated, you can buy one the same size or more great. Here's a 1 TB drive that will work on your computer. If you don't want to buy this one, it's a good example of what you need.
