pavilion g6 laoptop keyboard problems

In recent days, some of the buttons on the key board does not work. As a student, my daughter used this machine for two years before me? So I do not know the treatment he got! Is there a problem with these keyboards or I will try a removal and cleaning? Please notify. Thank you.

Hi @ADretired

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I see you are having some problems with keyboard and I'll be happy to help you. I would advise to take the keys off and clean it. You can find the right way to do so under the section key stuck in this document from HP, computer laptop keyboard troubleshooting. Also I recommend the last section reinstall or update the software keyboard for laptop. If neither of these options work while looking to replace the keyboard. This is Service and Maintenance Guide for your model and on page 52, you'll find instructions on removal and replacement of the keyboard.

Please help if you can I have a paper to write, and this problem is difficult/impossible to work with.

    Hello

Maybe it's a hardware problem, but it is always worth trying the following.

Open windows control panel, open Device Manager, expand keyboards, right-click on the "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" entry and select uninstall.

When this is finished, stop the laptop.

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.  Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the default values (sometimes it is f5, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion 500-270: keyboard problem

My wired and wireless keyboards do not work on my PC. Problem started today. I tried the power up/down steps and BIOS setting but still no solution. I also ran athe Driver update of test.  If anyone can help?

Another note, function {s} keyboard fine when you connect. Just don't after that login is complete.

Fixed my own problem. Unknown to me, the "ease of access" functions of the keyboard were committed and outweigh external keyboards.  Hope this helps someone.

    Hi Maltesem,

There are a number of different programs of cleaning out there, but some of them are nothing more then spyware and HP does not have one himself. Personally, I use CCleaner on my personal computer at home, but I can't recommend a particular program.

Regarding the upgrade to Windows 8 there is no drivers for Windows 8 for your model. That says Windows 8 could still work and you can find most of the drivers, but some things can not meet as it should that pilots will be not specific to your model.

  • Product: F4U57EA #ABU: HP Pavilion 15-n032sa keyboard problem

I was upgrading the operating system to win 10 and when the process was complete the KB was strangely (keys work or not leave the bad characters).

I returned to 8.1 win, but the KB problem persisted.

Because the fault was present in the two operating systems, I decided that the keyboard was not.

I bought a replacement and equipped, but the problem is still apparent, but I noticed that the keyboard works fine, which points to a hardware problem, perhaps?

Now, I have no idea of what has past and I'm a little worried when I see any issues/questions about laptop HP keyboard.

I can't afford to give up the laptop and buy a new one. -What can anyone suggest a next step, because it is, the laptop is pretty much unusable.

OK, thanks for all your help - too bad we don't have a winner this time but thanks for trying. I think I'll find a replacement motherboard - you don't know anyone that makes that might have a good deal to me, do you? Otherwise, I can hear calling Ebay...
    See you soon

  • HP Pavilion dv6 keyboard problem

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6-2120tx laptop. The specs are Wndows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB Nvidia GeForce.

The problem that I face is that the keyboard lacks some features when I hit and this happens especially in Internet Explorer. I want to be able to type quickly.

The laptop is brand new, almost a month or two and I am facing the problem since I bought it.

Try using another browser (Google Chrome / Firefox) for a test to see if the keyboard problem still occurs. If it is not then the issue could be a problem with Internet Explorer.  What version you have installed? (IE6/IE7 or IE8)

The same thing happens when you type in a document when you use Microsoft Word or Open Office?

  • Portege R830 - Trackpad/keyboard problem

HI - hope someone can help because I have only a few strands of hair left out!

In the last two weeks, a problem has developed with the trackpad - and maybe my keyboard. Here are some of the symptoms

    1. the cursor on the screen suddenly freezes. If I leave the laptop and work back, and it's not.

    2. If I tap on the keyboard (can simply press the keys or I could be typing in a document) and the cursor may freeze again. During this event the little 'mouse/trackpad' power icon flashes briefly on the screen. If I hit another key (literally anywhere on the keyboard) a number of times (not the model number) the icon can cycle and the slider moves and then freeze again.

It's as if each key on the keyboard is somehow the role of the FnF9 key.

Unfortunately I took the laptop on a business trip recently and this time after initialization the laptop - the cursor was frozen and no amount of pressure button thoughtful or random didn't get going. It is a working battery. That scared the hell out of me.

If I plug in a USB keyboard and mouse and then pressing the keys on this keyboard does not cause the cursor to freeze. But he can do anyway - as described in 1. above.

The F9 key will unlock the cursor (I guess re - turn on the trackpad) - but it won't be long before cycle back again.

I did not drop the phone. There is nothing physically wrong with her. The battery holds its charge and it starts successfully. I did no change of material during the month.

The only button on the keyboard that is not working is the mouse/trackpad power button just above the space bar. It feels a bit depressed - but I think that is how it has always been. Juggle it makes no difference to this bizarre and erratic behavior. But perhaps this is relevant.

    When I tried.

    Reinstall the trackpad driver (Synaptics).

    Reinstall the PVAT (value package).

I even tried to re-imaging of HARD drive to one of these days - and the other just after that I bought the laptop in 2012. Which should have solved if it was a software/driver problem - but it didn't.

One thing I did not, is venturing into the BIOS. Maybe there is something in them?

In Device Manager that everything is listed - no warning at all. There seems to be be no IRQ conflict.

This could be a hardware problem? I read that the keyboards on R830 are quite likely to damage/stoppage of work. A the United Kingdom popular auction site has sellers who claim to have sold more than 40! That's a lot of R830s who have had new keyboards.

I also know that a replacement is a pain, so I hope that's not it.

Someone at - it suggestions? It makes me crazy.

I google extensively and can't come up with anything either. There are the usual raft of people trying to find how to activate the trackpad or disable - but none seem to be struggling with the laptop made for them.

    Help!

    Hello

According to the description of your problem, it seems that the touchpad is disabled automatically.
As you have already mentioned, the touchpad can be enabled and disabled by using the FN + F9 key combination function

Since you have also some keyboard problems, my theory is that there is a problem of keyboard that may be responsible for the touchpad ON / OFF question.

What do you think of this theory?

I put t think there is a software problem because as you already reset the system to the point in time at the beginning (factory settings?). This is why I think that the conflict of software cannot be the reason for this.

  • Satellite Pro C50 keyboard problems - A - 1 L 6

    Hello

I just bought this new Satellite Pro.

I have installed all the drivers and updated the bios to the latest version, but I still have the same problem: when I write, many times my keyboard writes double letters (for example, all ten words written keyboard a letter double, as "keybboard").

I tried also to change the properties of the keypad on the control panel of Windows 8, but nothing has changed.

I called support, but they just told me that I have to bring my laptop in a helpdesk: but I need my new computer to work, and I wouldn't be happy to lose at least 4 weeks!

And, support told me that, if the laptop has no hardware problem, I would have to pay for assistance...
    .
So, this is my first experience and unlucy in the world of Toshiba...
Is there someone who can give me some advice to solve this problem?
It may be a problem running on the new laptops, and someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi guys,.

As far as I know that these similar keyboard problems in the past could be resolved by the BIOS updated.
I found the new BIOS for Satellite Pro C50 - A
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/BIOS-20140912105436.zip
    Worth a try

Another question: If someone has done to test a USB external keyboard?
In the case where the external USB keyboard would work correctly, this issue isn't associated with BIOS or keyboard controller but probably his keyboard fault internal.

  • On Satellite L750D keyboard problem

    L750D keyboard problems

Hi some of the keys on my L750D don't work correctly for example
The R key works fine in word format, BUT on a page web, it removes what I typed above
The SHIFT key in MS word deletes a line on the web pages need you out of the box, in which you type
Key 4 above the alpha keys is stuck and only appears as the sign $
Enter the key 4 on the left is fine
The caps lock light doesn't turn on but works fine

    Everything else seems fine,
Because the R key work different in different applications I m thinking that it s not a problem of keyboard more in the settings (I did a restore without help)
Please help is it possible to reset the keyboard to its original settings?

I can only imagine that you can try to fix this BIOS update. Have you checked on the Toshiba support page if the newer BIOS version is available?

  • Portege M600: keyboard problem

    Hello

My M600 just got a little problem (I hope) today.

The 'x 'key' doesn't quite work. I have to press very hard to show the letter 'x '. It seems that the upper-left hand corner of this key is stuck, so he bends to the bottom right when I press on it. How can I solve this problem?

I am located in Glasgow (G4 0JQ) and do not know if there are any office of maintenance here, but just know the nationalwide Service Pick-Up & return for laptops Web site. However, I prefer to deal face to face with the engineer in a few minutes, because I guess this isn't a big deal, isn't it?

    Thank you very much
    Ting

    Hi Ting

What to say? You know that the best solution is ASP and finally change the keyboard. I really don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you check out http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP. You will see where is the nearest ASP. Make a call and see what they say on keyboard problem.

    Hello

It's very strange can you check if this keyboard problem happening using an external USB keyboard?

If the USB keyboard works, your problem is related to the fault of the internal keyboard. In this case it must be replaced.

My C50-A283 satellite keyboard does not work properly. It will automatically start and back. Some keys don't work not that is 'L', 'I' button does not work. Even using "on the keyboard of the screen" or external keyboard, the result is the same.
    Thank you.
my laptop has active windows 8 OS

    Hi noor21

If you have similar issues using internal and external keyboard, then I recommend you to run a recovery process that would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

After this check, if your BIOS is up to date.

If the keyboard problem will always appear even if you define the laptop back to factory settings, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba because the keyboard failure may be related to hardware problems.

  • Re: Satellite L650 keyboard problem

Hi, I have a satellite L650. After the initial installation of the operating system, I have a keyboard problem.

    When I press SHIFT @ I get. "

    When I press SHIFT "I get @"

Most of the SHIFT functions work properly, but there are still a few examples like that.

I checked the forums and google the problem, in other models there was problems of similar keyboard that have been fixed with a BIOS update.

The BIOS installed on my machine is 1.6 which seems to be the last. I installed the 32-bit version of windows 7.
