Pavilion g6: the screen flashes but will not stay
When you press the power button the laptop starts to power. A message "press the esc key to access the boot menu" flashes briefly on the screen, but the it turns off and remains empty. The laptop is continuing with its power in sequence and the screen flashes briefly from time to time showing what seems to be the boot sequence screens, but nothing remains on the screen long enough to see what is displayed. Then, the screen remains blank.

Everything was going well until I refreshed Firefox. Since then, the address bar does not work. If I type in a website or attempt to use the drop-down menu to access a previous site, the site loads but does not "join the service or go the arrow." It is used to automatically load, now it won't load at all! I am running Windows XP
You are running Firefox in compatibility mode for Windows 98 (NT 4.10) according to the user agent.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 4.10; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0
Make sure that you are not Firefox running in compatibility mode.
You can open the properties of the desktop Firefox shortcut via the context menu and check under the tab "compatibility".
Make sure that all items are disabled in the tab "Compatibility" in the Properties window. -
I have flashed my BIOS, the PC POSITIONS, but will not install Vista (or XP)
I could use some help. Update the BIOS on my ASUS M4A78T-E to the version current (1302 to 3406) I hope to solve a weird problem with the system loss of the year in the CMOS. And now VISTA will not load.
Fine finished BIOS (cleared the CMOS memory (pulled the battery, moved rider th 20 minutes), the start-up of the PC will be, going by a screen start, completed POST with no problems, but do not load the o/s.) I get the screen of boot F8 options, it seems to have detected the BIOS change, but the selection of safe mode, through normal startup.
I tried all the boot options, and none will. So, I grabbed my Vista Ultimate 64 bit CD and planned boot from that and run a repair. It does not - files all seem to copy, and then it crashes. Sometimes I can get to the initial screen (much colorful screen), but it still crashes.
I tried with the 32-bit disk with no luck.
I tried with my old Windows Xp disk and files copy them all, but when he seems to want to start Windows, it crashes.
Options?
Thank you!
Lose the date system is usually down to a cmos battery failure, unless its companies specifically named in the bios update information.
If its either that or a motherboard problem, none would be fixed by an update of the bios

If I just powerdown (overnight), leaving a/c, connected, the cursor appears and moves, as my mouse moves. HOWEVER, if I powerdown and completely disconnect the PC, 110V, to keep safe from one close shot of lightning, THEN the problem appears. After the storm passed, I plug the PC into the 110 outlet, turn on the computer and restart it. The cursor appears in the center of the screen, but it will not move when I move my mouse. THE ONLY THING I can do is hit briefly, the power button to turn off the back and then click New to reboot (twice now)... then the cursor appears in the center of the screen and moves when I move my mouse.
Yes, I still think it's the battery. If the computer is turned off but still plugged into the wall, food always provides a small amount of power to the motherboard to keep a ready"" State. In fact, if you stop it, but keep it is plugged, you can send a packet to 'Wake-on-LAN' through the Ethernet that would then turn on your computer so you don't have to press any button at all. This requires that some things are always under tension even when the rest of your computer is turned off. Remove the plug from the wall removes this standby power and now the BIOS of your motherboard must hold his memory by falling back on the battery.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.
Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.
This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:
This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:
-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.htmlFor drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have. Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htmInstallation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.htmlIf you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish. How to disable automatic driver Installation in Windows Vista - drivers
